While I have searched these forums for this suggestion and I have looked at all the posts concerning this, I think that Dyes should be made account wide once it’s learned on one toon.

Many have said that doing this would kill the Dye market, but I believe it won’t. ANet has shown that they can create new dyes to stimulate the dye market and even those once-in-a-blue-moon dyes such as seen with those from the Flame and Frost Dye sets which will be leaving shortly.

Not to mention GW2 still gets new players every day who will buy the perfect dyes for their characters armor.

So in short: Making dyes account wide will not kill the dye market as long as ANet makes event exclusive dyes.

The whole reason why it is not account bound is to entice people to buy dyes from the Gem Store. Originally it was supposed to be account bound, but that changed when Nexus bought 15% of the company and got one of their own people to take over the Gem shop development. This is why dyes, pets, and weapon skins are all gambling from the Gem Store.

No… Money sink is good.

And it’s purely cosmetic so its not like you HAVE to grind for them.

Also what is this about dyes and the gem store? I have two 65~ characters and through pve I’ve goten celestial and a few other expensive dyes…

I’d have to see while I would prefer them to be account unlocked it isn’t too much of a concern most of the times aside from my ranger who I’m getting all dyes minus gem exclusive ones for I usually have a color scheme exclusive to them and so I don’t really need them to be account unlocked granted if you just want to make all your characters abyss and celestial then well I’d say try some color. Also far more important things than account unlocked dyes like /flute come on arena net

You don’t even know the name of the company you’re hating on, how can we take anything you say seriously? Not to mention that Account bound dyes were “announced” 2 years before launch. Things change in that amount of time and Anet saw fit to make them bound to your character. Stop throwing around baseless “facts” that don’t contribute anything to the conversation.

Dyes are fine. They could be 100x worse then they are now, it could be like other games where dyes are a one shot deal.

Imagine collecting 6 abyss dyes just to dye your armor once on one character.

I would like dyes panel to be for your entire account. I just don’t think Anet will ever do it.

All I can do is speak for myself with the following statements.
I would certainly being willing to actually buy some dyes from the store if two things happened
1)they weren’t random mystery packs
2)they were account bound.

Just my thoughts…
