So today I was just thinking about what the next stage of events and lore could be like for guild wars 2 and I had this imaginative idea that I thought I would throw it out there.
The idea is dynamic labyrinth:
The lore:
Deep within the land ravished by the dragons four ancient labyrinths have been found. The labyrinths are highly dangerous and it seems as if they were built to keep intruders out. Those few adventures who have gone in and returned to tell of their adventure are returning with something quite remarkable. They have found what appears to be pieces of an ancient map. What it leads to is yet unknown. But asurian scholars are sure of a few things. Whatever it is, it’s located somewhere in the crystal desert. And one thing is very clear, ancient Tyria wanted it forgotten. (I’m no expert on GW2 lore and realize this could clash with other lore)
The mechanics:
The idea would be a gigantic open world dungeon that not only is a constantly changing dynamic event itself but has dynamic events within it. The idea is that paths within the labyrinth are dynamic and constantly changing. Don’t get cut off from your party members or the door may close before your eyes. Within the labyrinth your sure to find dynamic puzzles that must be completed to open new paths, adventures and researchers in need of aid, and of course new dangers around every corner.
Labyrinth types:
Shevepeaks labyrinth: this labyrinth seems to be made of living ice. The maze is constantly changing and can frustrate the heartiest of Norns. Your best bet is to keep moving, lest you find yourself like one of the very life like ice sculptures that seem to populate this frozen dungeon.
Asurian warp maze: this strange and ancient place is more of an electricians nightmare then anything else. Primitive floor panels warp a player much like an asurian gate, but the destination and effects are often unpredictable. It’s an odd day when you step on one panel a charr and walk off another a human!
Endless night catacombs: deep within ancient Ascalonian ruins are endless caves. Grab a torch on your way down for you won’t be seeing the light of day for a long time. And did I mention the ghost? Yea, when they are done messing with your mind, your sure to be right when you mention to your other party members that you have seen that rock three times already.
Tyrian lake: who would have expected what seems like an endless ocean hidden underneath Tyria itself. One can only imagine how such a structured labyrinth was built under so much pressure. Not to mention the ancient marine animals the size of a bus who shouldn’t even exist. I wonder how much pressure the aqua breathers can handle?
Well those were some preliminary thoughts i had. Like em, hate em. Just thought I would share. See ya in game.
