Endgame missing
Came here expecting a where are the raids rant… but I have to agree with you that a dungeon finder would be nice and they really have to do something about the WvW queues… even if they show us where we are in the queue that would help, so I know how long it’s going to be.
Your title is still misleading. Neither of those have to do with end game because you can do them from lvl 2 (WvW) or 30 (dungeons).
Please don’t add a dungeon finder, searching a group works perfectly fine.

Ugh, the dungeon finder is the last thing this game needs. Right now, I am super happy that the servers have a community to them. People actually have to seek out groups (which really isn’t that hard since you can do 5 of any class).
Maybe a dungeon finder to the extent of ONLY searching for other people looking for a group would be nice.
All of that automated b/s that other games have, I do not want to see here…
Please don’t add a dungeon finder, searching a group works perfectly fine.
This is like saying: please don’t give me a car, I can walk to work just fine.

It works but takes time, so why should I search manualy for a group like back in 2004 when dungeon-finders are an established feature of modern mmo’s, i want to play the actual game and not the “spamm chat with searching for members for xxx makro” game.
Please don’t add a dungeon finder, searching a group works perfectly fine.
Umm, why not?
Well here is a new argument for the forums. Lol….pro and con support for dungeon finders in MMOs is like saying vanilla is better than chocolate (it isnt btw). I personally dont understand why people who have no issue filling groups without a DF would be opposed to implementing one…I mean, if you don’t like the DF, don’t use it….but let others have the choice of using a DF or not. How would the presence of a DF hurt any of you naysayers?
the game often detects my messages as spam after posting “lfm cm story” a few times. this is really annoying. also, i’d like a way to reach more people than just map chat with this, maybe it wouldn’t take half an hour or more to get a group together, then.

Or is it that you just want to control other players’ enjoyment of the game?
And I think it’s funny that after a while your message will be suppressed for excessive messaging if you keep saying “LFM such and such.”
Really Anet, you give me this ancient system of finding a group and then penalize me for using it. Smart.
As long as the dungeon find is confined to server I don’t see the big deal. As these dungeon require coordination conversation and community building will inevitably happen.
That said I don’t think it should be high a priority at this time.

So You Hit 80? A Quick Endgame Handbook
If you can’t find anything there to keep your interest, well, it’s not that the game doesn’t have anything to do. It just doesn’t have that particular thing you want to do.
Edit: HA! Ill figure out this textile thing eventually

There is always lack of content at endgame. In every game. At least until the next content update….of which I wouldn’t expect any time soon since the game only opened on Aug 28th.
But there is plenty of content you passed by on your screaming run toward level 80.
If you join an active guild, there is no reason for a dungeon finder.

No dungeon finder. Just a simple window that would go something like this.
name —- lvl(?) —- looking for
player 1 —- 42 —- AC (S), AC(E)
player 2 —- 40 —- AC (E)
player 3 —- 28 —- DE
This will be server wide list, not zone wide, so you can go out any where in the world and see and be seen by everyone on YOUR server. Then you just have to click on the name, send a whisper if they are looking to do what you are and form groups. Without spamming chat, and without ‘groups are hard, make one for me’ LFD that people are talking about here.
You keep social interaction this way. And keeping it server only means how you act, behave and play will grant you reputation among the server community. Making people accountable for how they act. If you act like a jerk, you will gain that rep and soon find yourself unable to get groups as easily. If you act respectful, helpful, good player, you will be known for that.

So you basically want a dungeon finder, just without the actual system so you don’t have to admit that you want a dungeon finder. The only difference between what you want and a dungeon finder is that the dungeon finder automatically forms the group instead of forcing you to message strangers.

I never said I want anything, so I don’t have to admit to anything. I am just offering some middle ground…offering a solution instead of being a whiny crybaby saying gimmie gimmie, i need, i need.
And this is a group finder that the player still has some control over. Control over who they play with.
This is an massively multiplayer game after all, forbid if you have to actually talk to other players. The horror. And with what you want, you’re still forced to play with strangers, but with no control over who those strangers are. And if it ends up cross server, it would force people to play with players who have no sense of accountablity, so they end up acting like jerks.
Again, no control over any of it. No server community. Just a game filled with self entitled people who can act and do whatever they want with no consequences.

SWTOR tried to get away with no dungeon finder and failed. This game will eventually incorporate such a feature, the question is: when?

Ah I see, but still, you’re “choosing” random strangers. I’m personally all for a LFD as long as it is restricted to your own server.

I’m under the impression that half of these terrible threads coming out are posted by players fresh over from WoW. Pretty easy to spot.

Wait, what, you dungeon-found endgame?
I’m pretty sure you couldn’t dungeon find most of the major raids.
The thing is that this game has a sort of in-game dungeon finder, particularily with Arah. You literally just ask about it there and you’ll get a freaking party.

Yes, I"M CHOOSING. And, while playing, we all can be getting to know each other. Getting to know if I like them or not, for whatever reasons. So, for the next time I go looking for a group, I can open the group finder window and say, humm I really enjoyed playing with that guy, or no, he was a pain, I want to avoid any groups with him….
I mean, think about it…you want something that does it for you. So, if you get thrust together with someone who just brings the group down, you have a choice. Suck it up and deal with a less than desireable group experience or be forced to leave and try again.
Whereas my suggestion, puts the control back into your hands. You can hand pick who you group with. If you have bad experience with player 1, you can just not ask him to join or not invite him if he whispers you.
I mean I offered, what I feel, is a good middle ground. It is more than spamming chat channel, but it is not so hand-holding antisocial as lfd.
I at least offered a solution.
Please don’t add a dungeon finder, searching a group works perfectly fine.
Hmmm….I seem to recall a recent MMO release where people were saying this. It was pretty much one of the downfalls of the game.
Here is my take on the LFD issue. I say put one it. Its a great tool for people that dont have time to find groups, or dont have a lot of friends or a guild to play with.
If you would rather not have LFD, then simply dont use it. Other people like myself like that feature of other games.

Yeah I agree, it’s a good compromise. Hopefully it would work better than it did in SWToR, as that’s basically the same system they had in place at launch and literally nobody used it

This game and that ’game’ are different. Nobody cares what happened to that other game. And unless you have hardcore proof that a lack of a LFD tool was a part of the downfall of said game, then your words are simply an assumption.

Very much this. I suspect this is how the function that’s already in the game works but no one EVER uses it because it’s so hidden… (press Y)
I want to do WvW but don’t want to wait hours in a queue, so that’s a big minus.
Afraid there’s nothing they can do. The caps on WvW are there to make the battlefield manageably populated without ruining the experience, and keep lag relatively at-bay. Try swapping to a less crowded server or wait a couple weeks.
I want to do explorable dungeons, but don’t want to search an eternity for a party , why is there no dungeon-finder?
ArenaNet has taken the communal stance on this one. If they introduce dungeon finders, they risk destroying the sense of community (as is the case for all MMOs that introduce this feature). Seeing as how community is one of the most important things to them, I highly doubt that they’d introduce this feature.
I figure I should also mention: all the dungeons in the game exist within the world for a reason. Many of the later dungeons require you to push the world to a state where the dungeon can be opened. I imagine it’s set up that way to force dungeoneers into the world at large and keep the open world PVE populated.
I was never a fan of small-scale pvp so spvp doesn’t interest me a bit.
I was never a fan of leveling alts or professions, so that’s not content for me.
Fair enough. You’re actively choosing not to participate in fairly large aspects of the game—just know that complaining about a lack of content while choosing not to participate in two significant portions of the experience is doesn’t help your argument much.
A few things that I plan to do that you have not mentioned:
- 100% world completion
- Legendary weapons
- Scavenging for the coolest looking cosmetic armor for transmuting
- Collecting all the dyes
- Exploration achievements
Just keep in mind that your bold title of ‘endgame missing’ comes off as all sorts of ignorant when you choose not to participate in large portions of the content designed for end-game.
I mean, I don’t do end-game raiding in other games. It isn’t for me. But I know better than to run around saying that there’s nothing for me to do at max level.

Then you don’t have to use it, the rest of us can use the dungeon finder and find a group much quicker and much more efficient than you will ever be able to.
The server’s community? People are mostly in overflow looking for groups in Lions Arch, that benefits nothing since it’s cross server. Nice try, but you have no reason not to want a dungeon finder.
Please don’t add a dungeon finder, searching a group works perfectly fine.

Its not about being lazy. I just have limited time to play because of work and other things. I dont want to spend my game time sitting around an instance spamming LFG, if dont have to.
I would rather queue up, and quest until my turn pops. Simple as that.
And yes that WAS one of the main reasons that other MMO from a galaxy far far away failed so hard. If you had been in the game and on the forums there were tons of posts and complaints about not being able to find groups for flashpoints and heroic quests. People got sick of spamming LFG and started quitting. I was one of them. It was not the only reason, but it was one of the main ones.

Your proof? Pretty sure on my server there are hundreds of players out in the world, and not sitting in overflow.
Was out in the Plains of Ashford, and most of the Map chat were people getting dungeon runs. Pass by AC? TONS of people hanging out front.
Like, really?
