I was just thinking of some ideas for special armor dyes that arena-net could make that would have new visual effects. They’re probably not all “great” ideas, but I’m just putting it out there.

Glow In the Dark Dye: Obviously, this would be a dye that glows when it is dark, similar to the AC dungeon weapons.

Invisible Dye: This would let players hide parts of their armor, like if they didn’t want their chest armor to be visible

Chrome Dye: This would be a very reflective dye, mirror like.

Fluffy Dye: This would make the armor look plushy, maybe with stitches? I don’t know…lol.

If anyone else has ideas please post them, I think there’s a lot of potential in affecting player customization.

Glow dye could be an aspect of the sylvari glow, they could probably incorporate that into a dye with not too much effort.

Fluffy dye, plush backpack people would love this, so long as we don’t end up with a million furrys :P

I’d like aura dyes, which in essence i guess would be like glow in the dark but all the time. Aura hues around armor. This could cause major lag though if not done right.

You are correct, the legendary weapon “The Juggernaut” has a special effect which makes your armor metallic and reflective. Due to this, I don’t think they should make a chrome dye to trivialize The Juggernaut’s effect, but I do like the idea of exotic or special dyes overall.

The Chrome effect is the defining effect of The Juggernaut, it is a special aura which drives people to make the skin. While I don’t have the skin myself, I’m pretty sure anyone with The Juggernaut would rage if Anet removed the chrome effect (just look at what happened when they changed The Predator’s sound effect…).

Just get a better effect for juggernaut -> People who got juggernaut for the effect now can dye their armor for the effect, and still have a weapon with unikittenfect (Given that juggernaut gets a new effect)

EDIT: Apparently, you can not say “unique” followed by “effect”. Maybe someone could finetune the word filter?

All I can say is that auras and special effects have, and always will be reserved for legendary weapons. While unique dyes is a cool idea, it would ruin many current and future legendary weapons in the game.

Why can’t we also have legendary items? Why do you only want to have legendary weapons and not cool armor?

I don’t think having special effects on armor would affect the status of the legendary weapons at all. This could only improve the game, and I look forward to more high level items as a whole.
