Q:
Fera Moan – 80 Mesmer
Q:
Is there any way to modify the guest & transfer options?
Clicking “Guest” generates an obvious, intentional, look-at-what-you’re-about-to-do confirmation from the game.
Clicking “Transfer” does NOT generate a confirmation; instead, it transfers you. Period. It just take the gems and your kitten is on the server with no recourse for 7 days.
IMHO, I think these two need to be reversed. It matters little if I accidentally guest on the wrong server. It matters a LOT if I can so easily and with no recourse transfer my entire account.
I’m a WvW guild leakitten eople are counting on me and at present, I feel utterly homeless, lol.
I’m a competent adult with the ability to read AND push buttons, and yet I still managed to make this mistake. And I have paid for it. Literally. I’m seperated from my guild for 7 days and paid 1000 gems for the privilege. Since I’ve received no response from my ticket, it looks as though I’ll be paying 1800 gems to return to my (higher population) home server

It should be easy to guest and really difficult to transfer.
There should be a separate interface row for the two functions:

Agreed. It is very strange that there is a verification box for guesting and not one for a transfer. I know I miss-click enough that it would not be difficult for me to make the same error. Knowing this I’ll be sure not to have extra gems on me when planning to guest on another server.
The same thing happened to several members of a former guild and that was several months ago now. You’d have thought this would have received enough attention to be addressed by now.
We need more hoops for transferring than guesting as it’s a more permanent action!
Give us back our Feramoan!

That’s a nasty way to discover the lack of a confirmation button.
Have an up-vote. Here’s hoping you may get some lee-way in terms of the mountain of gems it has cost you, even if you need to go sit in the corner of another server to think about your actions ;o)
This is no small loss. Not only has Feramoan lost all those gems, but Crystal Desert has lost Fera for a week!
Please clean up the UI so others don’t encounter the same difficulties. It’s especially frustrating when this kind of thing happens.
Get your kitten back in CD!
Anything that requires you to spend gems should come with a confirmation button, no exceptions. It’s not hard to slip up and press the wrong button on the transfer screen seeing as both buttons are right next to each other. It’s a silly oversight. It’ll keep happening and you’re providing an unnecessary headache for your fans.
ah, but if you make an innocent mistake and end up losing gems, then you need to shell out more cash to buy more gems to make up for the mistake, and then even more to get back to the original amount of gems you started with.
it’s not too hard to figure out why they stick with something that is so obviously bad.
Just a bump for a good suggestion

This is definitely a nasty UI issue. Please make it a priority to fix this!
I’ll sign onto this as well, as i have recently accidentally transferred servers. The UI boxes are very similar, with the exception that the transfer UI shows gems. By time my eye caught that, I had already click ok. At least add a second level of confirmation to the server transfer UI, especially since we are spending gems.
Do people really pay this little attention to what they are clicking?
There is quite some space between the Guest and Transfer buttons, and unless you watch something else (which would be silly when it involves money) it would be quite hard to click the wrong one.
The two options are right next to each other, with only a minimum button padding between them. Not only that, but Transfer is given the corner, making it the more prominent choice and thus easier to hit by accident.
But it’s not really about that. The OP is making a solid point – there should be some measure of confirmation before you actually Transfer. There are confirmation dialogs all over this game for less meaningful actions. There’s no excuse to not have one for an action that costs 1000 gems, let alone being irreversible for a week.
Embarrassingly, I just made exactly the same mistake. In my case, it will cost 2,800 gems and a week to fix it, since I spent to move to a high-pop and I’ll want to return to my full-pop server.
I’ve filed a support ticket. If I get a different answer from the OP, I’ll add it to this post.
So, even when we are aware of how easy it is to make this mistake and try to be careful, it’s still easy to do this. It should be hard to transfer, easier to guest.
Short story: support came through! Less than 24 hours after miss-clicking and requesting help from support, I was returned to my original server and my gems were restored!
This was done as a one-time courtesy: if I make the same (or similar) mistake again, I won’t expect a refund. This seems fair to me, since I share in the responsibility. At the same time, I still believe that the dev team should make it much more difficult for others to make the same mistake: guesting should only require a single confirmation; transferring should require multiple steps, including a reminder of the gem costs.

My wife did the same thing last week so for a week now we had to guest with each other. Like other said before it isn’t only the travel cost but also the cost of transferring back. It would be nice that my wife and I or back together (in game on the same server, not that we split up for this ;-p)
She contacted support in game and never gotten a response.
What I also don’t get with the way it is implemented now is that it discourages you to have extra gems on your account a spur of the moment purchase. The ‘funny’ thing is that without the gems from the achievement chests she wouldn’t even had enough gems to pay the transfer. So the 400 free gems could end up costing us 2800 gems (we play on medium server so the transfer back is a kitteneaper).
She contacted support in game and never gotten a response.
She needs to file a formal support ticket. The in-game /bug report function is just that: it reports bugs; very few people ever get contacted directly this way.

Good luck.
Excellent suggestion. +1 Anything that a) costs money and b) is irreversible should require a confirmation.

I just made a similar mistake a few hours ago trying to do Teq while guesting on TC with my brother. The game crashed soon after the event started, and in my hurry to get back in the game, I clicked the wrong button… Good thing this place has solid walls, otherwise there’d be some holes I would also have to pay to fix.
I filed a support ticket and hope the resolution is similar to the treatment Illconceived Was Na received (but hopefully more direct!), since both TC and BG are high population servers and I won’t even be able to transfer back without having to buy gems.
Extremely disappointing to see that this hasn’t been fixed after what looks like months since the original complaints… It can’t be that hard to have a separate menu for transfers, or to at least add an additional warning, can it?
look at it this way it’ll give you time to scope out the competition get to kow them personally thus being able to better predict them .
Oh man. I always assumed that the transfer button had a confirmation dialog. o_O
That is scary… I guest all the time
