Haven’t seen a thread for this topic yet so I figured I’d give it a shot. Anet has mentioned new weapons and I’m very curious to see the ideas you guys have for this subject! Please try to keep your posts short n sweet, I wanna be able to see everyone’s input. And bear in mind it doesn’t have to be just a new weapon. It can be current weapons but expanded to another class. Here, I’ll go first.

I’d like to see perhaps a submachine gun type for the ranger, engineer, and/or thief.

I’d really like to see a 2h Great/Battle Axe for Warrior, Necro, and possibly Ranger; A Halberd for Guardian, Mesmer, and Warrior; Above-ground spear for Guardian; and Hammer and MH Mace for Engineer.

On your suggestion Komet, I think a sub machine gun for any class is sort of not really “In the GW2 time”, but maybe give Ranger and Thief the rife. Have a Rifle Ranger get powerful ranged shots with a jump back, and a Rifle Thief get some 1500 range sniping abilities.

Would be cool to see gauntlets. Some professions use them to brawl, while others use them for magic/tech abilities.

I also want a two-handed axe for Warrior and possibly Necromancer. Since Mesmers get greatsword, why not a two-hander for Necromancers besides staff? You might wonder: what about Elementalists? I feel they should be able to use a one-handed sword (Gandalf says “hi”).

The obstacle is the path.

I would love to see MH pistol for mesmers, and perhaps dagger OH for new phantasm ^^ Also i think that rifle for thief seems like a great idea

Batons – Both hands, could be treated like a two hander, although its duel wield.

Available to Warriors, Thieves.

Morning Star or Flails – these could be mace skins or a new weapon category all by itself

New Class – monk (runes are there already)
Martial Combatists.
Weapons – Bowstaff, Fists, Batons

New Class – Survivalist
Makeshift Artist
Can use whatever they get there hands on.

Monk has already been in GW1 so why not? However monk is now part of the Guardian class of gw2

Lovin the stuff I see so far in here

Gonna re-mention something I posted a while ago in response to theives not having any 1200 range weapon attacks anymore. To basically combine the whip and flail ideas that have already been mentioned, how about a Whipchain? I could see several classes well-suited to a long ranged wep like this, such as thief, mesmer, ele, maybe even necro or engi. It could have a decent amount of cc either in the form of stuns/daze, pulls either toward player, or player toward foe, and it could pierce all targets between you and target, hitting both on release and return, like the lightning whip. Anything like this I’d find super fun.

I also mentioned both a 1 AND 2-handed Melee spear, as well as a throwing spear.

Scythe is a MUST in my opinion, and in the same vein, I would love a longer range/wider spread melee weapon like a crescent blade that did maybe 450 range cleave damage and had some aoe as well as condition attacks. Plus if it were 1 handed, you could DUAL WIELD them

There was an idea for a chain skin for whips… but it seems you’er going beyond that.

engineer char already have the “come here!” effect when your fighting for life so whip chain. but for weapons instead of ax bring in the scythe from guildwars 1 and have it on necro and stuff. even bring back a balanced dervish , monk, paragon . and for races make kodan and tengu at least player races skritt maybe.

I played WOW until about level 30, then left, just an EQ clone. Reason we won’t see monks stims more from the Asian factor then anything else, fact is, allot of the named weapons simply put could just be skins for existing weapons. Halberd (Greatsword Skin), GreatAxe (Greatsword Skin)
Staff (Hammer skin).

BtT: 2h Axe, Scythe (and maybe Whips too^^)

Rifles for Thiefs (Sniper)
Maindhand-Sword for Eles, Offhand Thief and/or Ranger
1h Axe for Guardians
Mesmer Pistol Mainhand
Ranger Mace (Just Sword for dual wield melee isn’t enough )
Mace for Engineer (Mainhand)
