I have an idea on how to improve the current Personal Story. You can do this by adding missions to do in between the instances, it’s kind of how it works in the living story. For example this Halloween you went into an instance and met the Bloody Prince, then you had to go in the open world to find a Candy Corn Elemental to seal the Bloody Prince.

As you see here, you had to do an objective or objectives in the open world in order to progress further to the next instance. This could easily be added into the current Personal Story in between instances. It would really improve that part of the game, make it more fluid and fill up those holes you get in the story while leveling from 1-80.

That’s how guild wars 1 stories were but gw1 is a different game and really I’d have to say I prefer the way they told the story much better in it especially since this way I can’t go replay my favorite scenes and the lack of bonus objectives.

Yea it drastically needs to be improved, your ‘personal’ story that you chose during creation is only about 4 missions long and after that it’s a bunch of in betweens that are forgettable only to find out you’ve been thrown into another character’s story where you remain the side character to a sylvari named Trahearne.

Your “Personal story” turns into “Trahearnes story, follow the useless salad and do nothing” around the 50ish one? I cant recall its been over a year since I last cared/did any of it.

What they need to do is remove the useless salad, then redo everything from the island where my most favourite char ever has to die </3 R.I.P Tybalt, up to Arah story mode, and give us a personal story that is actually personal, with us in command, and a lot more options/choices we can make resulting in different paths.

Also, They should re-do Arah story mode, and give us a proper fight at the end, not some pathetic “sit on the cannon hurr durr” (I actually cant even remember this properly, I guess it just wasn’t good enough for me to remember)

I agree with you guys. The part with Trehearne needs more characters involved and not 100% focus on Zhaitan and Trehearne. They could have added really interesting characters in the story which would make it more intriguing, characters that had connections to parts of Tyria and connections to existing characters in the story or NPCs in the world of Tyria.

Zhaitan fight was lame. ArenaNet have said they are working on something like raiding, but their take on raiding so it won’t actually be WoW raiding. Rift raiding was pretty fun though.

I think they should split it out into three stories.

1. Personal story – remains personal. It is centered around your homeland, introduces you to many people there. You find out about your background, your friends background, etc. The dungeon in that area and other things could add to it.

2. The story of the order you join. You find out much more about the order. You do much more with and for the order. Specific order missions, etc.

3. The Pact/Dragon story. Totally separate from the rest. You are working for/with these folks.

It’s a kitten conspiracy. Kittens gonna be kittens. All is vain!

That’s a good idea. I support it.
I really don’t consider the order part and the pact/dragon parts to be personal. It should be more like missions in GW1. If they ever are going to rework it.

Id like to see the personal Story improved by added optional Side Quests, that if you fulfill them all within the personal story main task, that you improve through them your rewards at the end.

its the same concept, like Missions of GW1, where they had all also a Main Task and a Bonus Task and if you fulfilled the Bonus Task too, then you received more experience for example.

Also people should be rewarded with something, if they help out in personal stories of other players.
Currently theres absolutely no incentive to help anyone out in personal stories, because the helper receives absolutely nothign for his/her help, not even experience, no gold, no karma, no nothing!!!!
That must change.
A player that helps out an other player in a PS, should receive at the end of the story 75% of the Exp that the PS starter received + some materials for example, which become more valueable, so higher the level of the personal story part was.

Would be a nice way to get some t6 materials a bit easier, if you help out other people in the orr personal story parts for example, that would help also to revitalize orr a bit.

Personal Stories on the other hand need to become finally also replayable/resetable and then replayable, if a player wants for example to make a change in his personal story, then there should be an item in the Ingame Shop, I name it for exampel now the “Stone of Amnesia”, that lets you forget your current personal story history and lets you replay your pesonal story and resets your character to level 1 back also (but no warries, your equipment and skill points won’t be lost, you can’t only use them temporarely, until your back at lvl 80, that way make those leveling scrolls that raise u directly to lvl 20 also sense for people, which have only max lvl charas)

Anet needs to implement Hard Mode for Personal Story for people which use the Stone of Amnesia, so that when you replayyour first time your personal story (and maybe use the chance to make changes) you can decide them, if you want to replay it on Normal or Hard Mode, where Hard Mode will naturally be more rewarding then.

Combien this with new achievements for doing the personal stories on Hard Mode together with a new title for completing the personal story on hard mode, et voila.
