Hello there,

This post is directed to ArenaNet developers and players, since there is a lot of misunderstanding throughout the forum regarding the Legendary Weapons and mainly the precursors. Before get into that we need to know and understand what the source of these complaints is:

The Legendary Status

So, to make myself clear, it’s important to take a look at the very first video about the Legendary Weapons [by Arena Net].

This allows us to conclude that the purpose of having a Legendary weapon is not only to get it’s beautiful skin but most importantly to show everyone that you are a true Guild Wars 2 master player, it’s an item that showcases your achievements. Therefore it must be the hardest item to obtain in the game.

Now, keeping that in mind, let’s take a closer look into the current process of crafting the legendary itself. The average legendary weapon costs:

  • 500 Dungeon Tokens (account bound)
  • 1.010.100 Karma or 7500 Fractal Relics (account bound)
  • 339 Skill Points (account bound)
  • Gift of Exploration (account bound)
  • 500 Badges of Honor (account bound)
  • being a mastercrafter in 2 crafting professions
  • 120 Gold (buyable stuff from NPCs
  • 1100+ Gold (stuff only buyable from BLTCo)
    OR
  • just buy it from the Black Lion Trading Company

So, you don’t need to be a hardcore gamer to understand where the most difficult part of obtaining these items lays on. Yes, I’m talking about the gold. Because anyone can make the gift of mastery and the gift of fortune with ease, and not feeling half way through!
So that’s it…? More than half of the legendary weapon is just about gold? What about being a master of the game? Am I a master of the game just because I farmed the “cat” out of it? What about being a Dungeon Master? or a Master Crafter, or a Weapon Master, or the the Savior of Tyria, or a Realm Avenger, or perhaps being an arena champion?

To finish this post, I would like to suggest the game developers to review the recipe of the legendary weapons and change it in any way they see fit to match the true concept it was initially theorized. And please remember to keep it freaking hard.

Yeah mate there have been a lot of discussions over this. I think it is pointless to make legendaries that are practically created by farming gold, which doesn’t require any skill or real effort at all, as long as you’re braindead. This has reduced the legendary status to: no-life goldfarmer item. Nothing less, nothing more.

My suggestion: create a whole bunch of legendaries and require SKILL in order to get them, so there aren’t 20 people running around with the same one in a range of 1,000m.

good that i found this thread, i have a suggestion too.

I have a warrior myself, she is my everything and only char so far.
i have collected 75% for my Twilight (the 3 gifts).
All i need is dusk of rage but i really don’t want to spent all the time farming gold only to buy it from the trade post.
i wouldn’t feel like a player that has the hornor to use a legendary …

To the suggestion:
to include a NPC where you can start the so called scavanger hunt BUT only if you have 75% (the 3 gifts).

Why ?
1.) that not everyone just can get a legendary and they will appear everywhere
2.) people that don’t have the 3 gifts know that they can get the precursor when they have them

To the NPC (scavanger hunt):

what i really want to know is more about the legendary.
people just crafting their legendary without knowing anything about it …
if i create my legendary then i would want to know the story behind it, and a story about the precursor…

so my idea for the scavanger hunt is to create a story that can be done once a day and last about max 4 weeks.
and in the story you will get information about the story of the precursor and your legendary, which you want to craft.

also i would like to know what defines a legendary.

i had an idea about helping out people in the story all around in the world of Guild Wars 2 and in the end you will become a legend and receive the legendary to play with until you reach the final state where you fight a boss with the legendary you want to craft and at the end the fight end’s in a draw and the legendary gets broken or something like that and what is left is the precursor which you receive at the end..

i really hope that we will see a better option than only farming gold to get our legendary’s in the future and i am going to continue on thinking about a good way for the scavanger hunt.
