While we’re at it I’d like them to introduce 2 other classes and multiply x 3 the number of available utility/elite skills on current classes.

Well, in a way this is already the case with the weapon you can take from the ground. Your suggestion, should include armour too. A warrior should be able to wear light and medium armour.
The problem raised by the previous poster (Orpheal), who have forget to argument or never learned to, is that the game is not designed for. In game where every one can wield everything, you generally have to really learn the skill (ie not use it a few time to unlock the skill in 2 days). Second, there are very few link between the weapon and your class, that is a sword is a sword, it does not allow you to cast spell because you are an elementalist. There can be interaction if you have some aquipement : like no casting spell in heavy armour (though in some RPG you can).
Though I rather play no class game with everyone able to use all equipement, I reckon that the game system of GW2 does not allow it in the present situation. Or at least you should develop plus the game play issue.
You don’t have to argue over every stuff, if you have a clear opinion over something that won’t change, regardless of any arguments.
People should stop trying to make out of GW2 a GW1 clone and finally accept, that this is a new game, not GW1.5
If you just need a reason, take Game Balance and Skill Variety…
Elementalists with all weapons avaiable to them would be just OP compared to all other Classes as they multiply every Skill x4 for each element
If you’d give them now Swords for both hands, maces, axes for both hands, great swords, hammers, warhorns and torches, then they would instantly get
20+12+20+20+20+8+8 = 108 Skills more …
So just NO, this stands out of reasoning for Game Balance.

There are crazy things… mesmers with greatsword and dual sword are pathetic in its design.
It is a fact that we need more weapons to use, or at least weapon skills to chose from.
It is also possible to give all weapon to all class, if its designed to use with great style.

All weapons for all classes? No. That would be the end of the game. While that was possible in GW1, unless you had a weapon the class was designed for, the weapon and your combat abilities with it were severely crimped. True there were specialized farming builds to take advantage of specific weapons and abilities, but for generic adventuring, you went with class specific weapons and roles.
