Q:

Make a option that allows me to fully explore the world (if i already did it once on one lvl 80 character, and only for newly 80 lvl characters) but forfeit any future rewards i might get for exploring the whole map (i’m talking about items from full zone explore and the gifts of exploration).

So if my main has 100% world explore. Let my alt have a option to loose all explore rewards but get 100% world explore also.

But how lvl up your characters? Option maybe i just don’t see the fun in it

“Characters” implies they are all different and not just avatars of yourself. Call them avatars or the popular term “toon”

I like this idea, but lets expand on it a bit.

Instead of complete world unlock, lets limit it to waypoints that are commonly used (ones near World Bosses, Champ Trains, and World Events).

You don’t want to kitten your Alt’s from easy EXP.

But in return, no map completion on the Alts (no Gifts) but you can still complete each zone for Leveling up rewards.

I like the idea of having the option of getting all of the revealed on newly leveled 80 alts, simplified area/map completion, easier world event/living world participation, etc. That said, even if none of the other points are given, one should still forgo any area/map completion rewards.

If all you want are the WPs just run there and get them, why waste any dev time with this when there are bigger fish to fry? :o

It takes less than a half-hour per zone, generally, to solo-run to all or most of the WPs as a level 80, the possible exceptions being in Orr where a brand new 80 in greens or rares might have some issues getting to all the areas in half an hour- but that’s what guildies and friends are for!

So I vote NO on this.

That is the established term in roleplaying games though and has been fore decades. Hence PC = player character, NPC = non-player character.

Noooooo! Not “toon!” Back in the bad old days (coughWOWcough) the characters (and the entire game) really were cartoonish…. because they were, in fact, cartoons, or “toons.”

Thankfully, nothing about GW2 (except the Super Adventure Box, which is a special case) is cartoonish, and calling our characters, some of whom we spent 3-4 hours on in character creation and/or Makeover Kits, plus sometimes enormous sums of in-game gold and Gem Store dollars just for appearance items, “toons” trivializes them and the effort some of us put into their appearance.

So let’s let the expression “toons” die a well-deserved death in GW2. Like Barrens Chat and Resto Druids, it isn’t appropriate for this game.

I’ve personally thought about this suggestion myself, so you definitely have my support on this. I hate how, despite having world completion, I literally have to do it all over again for my alts – this is frustrating because when some living stories require you to have a certain level or location unlocked, it’s that much more difficult to complete.

Heck, I didn’t even bother with the Tequatl living story because not only would levelling take me ages, but getting there and unlocking the waypoints again to make it easier was just too much for me. I don’t really care about missing out on the gifts of exploration and all the rewards, I just want world completion for my alts so I can get around with ease – I did it before on one character (before ultimately deleting him in the end because I was unhappy with his look), I shouldn’t have to do it multiple times.

Forever a supporter of more male skimpy armor

I really think the idea removes replayability. Yeah, you’ve done it before, but with a different class the experience can be (even ever so slight) different than the time before. Personally I think that what really needs to be done is to add unique race-based and class-based stories that trek all across each and every map such that as you are engaged in performing the story quests and instances, you will most assuredly not only level but would also complete most of the existing objectives.

Imagine a warrior only story that is interesting and fun but is dramatically different from that of a mesmer story occurring in the same area. These should be epic quests and stories that give your character identity and which become apart of you the player. The point is, if you make each story path different, fun and challenging, you won’t notice as much that you’re also completing the same map as you’ve completed several times before. The stories could have both individualized instances that you enter, but could also have open world events that pop up (and scale) because your character is at that part of the story where you have to face an enemy outside the Vigil Keep, for instance. Since it would pop in the open world, others could assist and since it can be made to scale with the number of players in that area the difficulty can be tailored such that it is challenging but still possible to complete regardless of how many people are there. Talk about a dynamic event, and one that is not on a looped timer.

I suggested some storylines here which I think would be cool to have in the game.

I assume that what you are mostly concerned with is not having the waypoints for new characters. What I would suggest instead of 100% Map Completion at lvl 80 would be instead have all wp’s revealed at start. Downside is you have to pay the lvl 80 cost to wp and still forgo all map completion rewards, xp on expanding the map, and xp on poi.

This way you get absolutely no map exploring rewards from the start . But you aren’t put at a total disadvantage since you can still get your skill pts and gain the rewards from doing hearts. Plus I would think it would be easier to add in if they just tag it as a function after you do your character creation and 1st instance, over asking when you hit lvl 80.

Also choosing from the start means you can’t change your mind. For example I create a mez as an alt, but I don’t really like it so much. After giving it some time/lvls/new skills I still don’t like it but I’m lvl40. At that point I say to myself let’s just power lvl the rest of the way to 80 and choose 100% map explore. Another example could be you just hit lvl 80, but with out intending to you got a lot of map explored, originally you were going to choose 100% at lvl 80 but you change your mind since you have so much explored/explored the key wp’s you wanted. Because there are advantages to choosing at lvl 80 is why I suggest you have to choose from the start.

If ppl still find it unfair how some people unlock all the wp’s at start they could always add a lvl requirement for using wp’s (just for those who choose this option not normal play). That way it would prevent a lvl10 from join a zerg in Orr doing a temple and getting the loot.

Edit: One more thing you can only create a 100% map completion character once every 3 days. That way it can prevent players from rerolling x amount a times a days to farm something like world bosses/temples/jps ect.

On a side note I personally am not interested in this I’m just giving a suggestion for those who would like something like this. Such as my boyfriend who doesn’t play very much, but when he does he like to play with me and has to spend 5-10mins running through maps to get to where I am, for him this would be useful.
