Hello all. This is not a ‘bug’ or really anything I can post a pic for at this time. However, I figured it was worth the time to post on the forms about this.. My suggestion is to look for these players, and let the dev team know about what I saw.. in hopes that it may aid them if needed.

Today, around 12:23pm EST on Maguuma server, in Brisban Wildlands, some of the guild was in group running around. We stopped for a moment at this Heart vendor (Peacemaker klodi), we saw this naked, bot like named player log in (inside) the iron ore node. They gathered it and disappeared. A few second pass.. they then appear inside the tree right next to it..

I did not get a screen shot.. but I targeted the player to show the others and got their name that way before they disappeared. So, I added to friends list and reported. I am willing to bet most other players will not even be able to see the name or respond quick enough to report this player (or others that may be out there like them).

I reported the ‘botting’ shortly after time post above while on my Elementalist. Should narrow it down enough for devs to find the info I hope.. and me not post the person’s account/player name here.

Why not?

Level 80 Charr – 324 achievement points total – appeared right next to me in Frostgorge, harvested 3 logs or whatever from a tree then vanished fractions of a second after the final logswing; did not hear or see any stealth being used and stayed there looking for him for 15s.

Now, the responsibility of reporting these bots on the players is a feasible short term conclusion. However, this is not going to be the ultimate solution. Teleport hacks are very difficult to track, probably why these guys are using them. I’m not sure how GW2 back end works, but I would image it is much like other mmos to some extent. A server kick (check for xyz corr. from server to client) on the back end would probably be one of the better solutions. It seems these players are not running or actually moving to these ‘nodes’ given the few statements made on the forums. That is all, for now.

I have run into these bots a few times now. One place I know that’s fairly easy to spot and report them is in Straights of Devastation, near the Waywarde Way area. There’s a spot that has 4-5 cypress trees that can be chop’d down. They tend to appear at one, chop it down, disappear & reappear at the next. Happen to be killing elementals there today and reported 4 or 5.

Hmm… that must be something like what I ran into yesterday north of Yak’s Bend. I saw a Mithril Ore vein on my mini map, and a dead player nearby. Both are usually a reason for me to head over in that direction. As I got closer, I saw TWO dead Players, then three. By the time I got there, I found at least 8 dead, naked players and no serious monsters in the area to account for it.

I killed the monsters, revived one or two of the players (without a “TY” of course – they weren’t even moving at first, so I figured they were AFK.) I did my mining and before I knew it everyone was up and running around (naked), mostly the favored Ranger Profession with pets dashing about.

When it dawned on me that I must’ve awakened some Chinese Gold Farming group I got out of there. I hate being anywhere in the vicinity of them. Anymore, I will not revive any naked players out in the middle of nowhere. I’m sure the majority of toons in that state are bots.

I have been seeing these bots around too.

I just really wish Arenanet would respond to bot reports quicker because there have been occasions where I reported a bot and then saw the same bot running around 2 weeks later. Giving the bots that much time really hurts the economy.

i say if they are doing that way then why not put a shard debuff damg from attemping to gather while naked that damages you while you mine if you dont have proper clothing on such as you know shoe+chest+hat that does like 30% damg via health. I mean in real world if u were to try to mine vein with out clothes you would be in pain after all that rock and shards flying at your bare skin. this would slow down or even halt certain area from being bot spammed annnnd they would be force to spend gold to pay for repairs. by all mean keep em there but do this make repairs 200% for the reported bot and flag by mod. Thus they have to spend gold to keep their bots running lol.

If you mean not wearing all three at once (shoe+chest+hat) then I disagree. Some people’s characters deliberately don’t wear shoes (my ele/necro doesn’t for instance) or chest armour (like a couple of people I know who play norn males), and should not be penalised for that, after all they’re already taking a stat hit anyway. A better idea would be the shard debuff you mention but only if the character is completely naked (lacking all three) as most bots tend to be after a short while anyway.

These potential bots also appear on the rich Ori ore in Southsun Cove.

Naked level ~5’s, appearing, mining the Ore, disappearing.

Might be the reason Ori dropped rapidly over the last 2 weeks (and does further so).

This is especially weird since Ori Mining picks need you to be level 60, but I’m certain these characters mining the Ore were Level 5.

Bots can’t be always blocked but remove the cash incentive for botting and they will almost entirely disappear.
