I don’t know about other commanders in WvW, but i would think that having commanders (who are tagged up) to have a different chat color to pop out more in chat, sometimes people miss what the commanders have said in chat, this gives people the availability to distinguish a commanders thought/commands in WvW chat. There is a /Team chat that pops out a little more than /Map, but everyone can use that and it gets cluttered. There is also /Squad chat, but that only works if people join your squad which 75% of people in WvW don’t even know about.

We already have many different chat colours, so adding more colours might be a problem for some people.

What I would fully support would be a customisable system – if we had an options menu where every player can pick their own preferred colours for different chat types.

This way,

• WvWers would be able to make commander chat stand out more for them,
• RPers could make it so emotes and /say are highlighted better,
• I personally would make /map gray and /party stand out more,
• get rid of pink for /whisper,
• in PvP quickly make chat colour match your team colour,
• etc. etc.

At the same time you would be able to not override commander chat lines with a different colour, preserving the status quo for players who like the current system and don’t want to see a rainbow in PvE /map chat.

I like the idea of making “commands” easier to see, but I have some concerns:

1. Many people turn on the commander tag, but do not lead (especially in PvE).
2. Some commanders’ words aren’t, shall we say, helpful to the team effort.

I like the idea of additional customization, especially if it means I could choose to turn off seeing commander tags, on the map and in chat (if the OP suggestion gets implemented).

It would be nice if there were linkable commands for the commanders to use. Like you could click on a location, then select attack/guard/rally/flank or whatever. I do agree that commanders need a dif. color in chat, or maybe italics or bold, would def. help me out.

(I’m not a commander myself so my opinion might not be worth as much, but just thought I would put it out there.)
