With the upcoming introduction of new legendary weapons and “trinkets”, this is Anet’s chance to get them right. Here is a list of differences I would like to see to make this set much better:

1. Account Bound. Legendary weapons should of never been on the TP. It is too late for the first set, but please correct this for the new weapons.

2. Less buying, more playing. You can buy almost everything you need for a legendary on the TP. You only need badges (currently thrown at us in obsene numbers), karma, SP’s, Map exploration, and a few dungeon tokens. Everything else can just be bought. I suggest vastly increasing the dungeon tokens, add in laurels and other account bound items, and decrease the buyable items.

3. Less sparkle, more awesomeness. Most of the first legendary weapons are pretty silly… the pistol, the SB, and the mace in particular. That’s fine for the people who want that sort of thing, but please diversify. Necros just look silly with their selection of legendary weapons.

4. Fix the engineer legendary problem. This has been well dicussed and acknowledged, but make sure there is a solution before adding in more.

If you have more please post them so the devs know what we want in terms of the next gen legendary weapons.

My suggestion, DO NOT tie them in any way to guild missions. there are far to many people in small guilds that are unable to earn merits and guild tokens.

  • Base them on existing or future GW lore – most of the existing legendaries seem to be pretty random and arbitrary in name & looks.
  • Since there won’t be a HUGE variety of available per weapon type, it would be really awesome if we could dye any particle effects any colour, as to make them fit the current character’s outfit and personality. For instance, Red flames, green flames or black flames would completely transform a flaming sword into something with a personality.

Something I thought of a while ago as well, but also to late to do. Release a new set of legendary weapons with the release of each Elder Dragon that reflect the appearance of the dragons, so jormag’s would be far more unique versions of the corrupted skins with particle effects.

Why would making them account bound be a bad thing exactly?

  1. But then you run into the opposite issue. Instead of complaining that it’s all about grinding gold, people will just complain that it’s all about grinding whatever you change it to. Laurels are already causing people to complain that Ascended stuff is timegated. Dungeon Tokens are already hoarded by people in massive quantities, so that wouldn’t really change anything at all.
  2. You call them silly, but there are people who genuinely like them. For example, I think that the effect of Dreamer is hilarious, but similarly I think that the whole design of Twilight is sad. It’s a freaking massive sword of reflective darkness. That’s not only very 12-year-old, but also way too overdone.

And let’s not forget, Legendaries do not need to be the shiniest, coolest skins in the game. All they need is to have something special about them, such as the footprints or the moving parts.

I’m all for some of the suggestions, but I disagree that there should be different types of legendaries. Any changes applied to the mechanics of legendaries should be for ALL legendaries, past and future.

i think the new set of legendaries should be more for another specific weapon, the first set was greatly focused on the greatsword, which is good, but remember there are proffessions that cannot use it, i think the new set should be focused on stakitten , where there were 3 greatswords on the first set, maybe 2 or 3 stakitten for the second so theres more diversity. i dont know, sounded better in my mind.

Love my Dreamer and specially crafted it first because of its beautiful, unique design and crazy rainbows and unicorns.

That said, if all of the legendaries were this overt, it would detract from this one’s effects!

I agree that legendaries should be account bound.
They were supposed to show dedication of player who played the game, who fought for the weapon, who commited his time and effort to get it. From only this point of view it’s so… so annoying that there is an option to just pay to get it…

Every class should have legendary weapon of each type (now there’s nothing for necro to use to make him look more… like necromancer). I know that making so many legendaries would take a lot of time but one additional item in the game could give many players something to play for (not to mention legendary armor pieces if they were to be added) for a long time.

Another thing to fight for could be optional effects or special dyes for legendaries (rare drops from specific champions).

Legendaries should be lore-related (please no more unicorns kittenting rainbows from theirs’ kitten – at least until every class have some really got ones, then ‘special’ ones can be added) – like hammer from dragon claw/tooth, shield from branded creature skin, etc.

I agree with number 3. We have enough cutesy and silly weapons. Time for some serious stuff. And enough with the same effects for everything. Every other weapon leaves a trail of goo in the wielder’s footsteps. Many leave trails of color through the air when swung. Come on, ANet! I know you have more imaginative talent working for you! Let’s see new effects (not so over-the-top, please) and a variety of effects.

Exactly, I really hope the new legendaries will have this “majestic” look I want from them. At the moment the only majestic legendaries in my opinion are Twilight & Sunrise and Juggernaut. Maybe Bifrost and Flameseeker. Scrap the idea of making these stupid jokes like Quip. Or at least add only 1 or 2 jokes.

For some reason most of the one handers seem kinda plain. Try to make them have the same impressive looks as the two handers.

Well, considering the fact that world completion gives only two gifts of exploration, I see no problem with having them be sold on the tp. Remember, to craft one of these things a player had to: 1. Get world completion
2. Farm Badges and Tokens
3. Farm/buy gold to buy mats or farm mats
4. Spend gold at one time or another to level crafting to 400
5. Can’t forget how precursors work
Only a dedicated player would be able to do all of the above in a short amount of time to do it several times, why should that player not be able to sell his work? For every Legendary crafted, someone put in the time.

For every Legendary bought, the buyer has also put in time or real money to support the game. They are only skins. Be glad Anet didn’t go ahead and say that you need 10k achievement points to get a mat needed or something.

However, if you’re talking making them account-bound after equipping them on a character of yours, I’d be for that. Would save a transmutation cycle and fine trans stone.

I wish they had a system like in GW1. You buy a weapon, equip a weapon. It only becomes soulbound after customizing it to a certain character for a damage increase, otherwise you could use the weapon on any character or resell it.

I agree, more serious weapons. I do like how they treated Twilight and its counterpart.
One Light Weapon/One Dark Weapon/One Other Weapon (could be silly like the moot or serious like eternity).

I want some information/lore about each new item (old items also). Even weapons at karma vendors with the little inscriptions have more lore attached to them. Ascended accessories have the same thing. Ascended more so because of the naming the item policy. What I want are books or clues around the world that tell of this items existence.

All in all, whether you bought or built…the creators and the buyers probably put in similar work. With how much gems convert to gold for a very long time now(probably December), and how much mats have stayed pretty steady since about a month after the lost shores event, I’d say you overestimate how many have spent REAL money on these things.
Not that many on the TP anyhow. Many have none.

No your wrong, legendarys HAVE to be the best looking weapons in the Game. There would be no point in working so hard for months on end to make 1 if it was for making some cheap looking broadsword.

As far as staff’s go, anything that sparkles and glows is a bonus in my book. Id love to see a Staff that you can dye any colar you want.
A Staff I invisioned would have a Holographic Angel bust with her hands crossed on the head of the staff while wielded, made of Pure white diamonds like the Gw1 Crystal Flame Staff. When casting spells would reveal Angel wings 3/4 of the way up the back of the staff with a swirling aura around the staff. The wielder would have a Halo around the head and be covered in a glowing white aura or glow. The Staff user would leave Diamond Crystals when walking and the Staff would transform the spells into a Holographic Diamond or crystal formation through the air with Glowing White Dust behind it. The staff would stow with no holographics visable but the wielder would glow all white with a gold halo over head all the time.

I like bitfrost but there should have been more Crystal and transperancy with it and more visial effects when walking. Specialy when using spells. Thats the 1 thing that made me so angry about it, hearing all the hype over it and then seeing it..was so disapointing ugh. I almost quit gw2 when I saw it from the shock of dissaproval.
