If you do the human storyline you’ll actually notice a few races at your and Minister Wi’s partys . The Canthan sector of Divinity’s Reach as i take it was taken out at last minute so we lost the Asian influence there . You will also find a mix of races around the city .
What bugs me is that the skin tone of the Krytans should actually be darker than it actually is as opposed to those in say the Ascaonian settlement or the Rurikton sector

It seems that Krytans have been mixed up with Ascalonians somewhere along the development process. The way I understand it, Krytans are more like Mediterranean peoples of our real world and the Ascalonians would be the more lighter skinned northern European peoples.
But I could be totally wrong, of course.
Do you even lift, bro?
Just because cultures trade doesn’t mean they intermix willingly. But yes there should be a slight difference between Ascalonian and Krytan peoples.
Ascalonians were more plains type people – cool and dry zone.
Kryta was more of a ocean-side jungle with some swampland – warm and sea-breezed areas.
Anyway, 250 years is not enough time to negate color differences between races.
I didn’t mean mix as in mixing blood…
Do you even lift, bro?
I don’t suppose it crossed anyone’s mind since this game isn’t a representation of earth. If it was, there wouldn’t be Asuran, Charr or Nord races in it.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.

The different human civilizations do rely on distinct parallels to our own world.
So.
Yeah.

Except that Elona Cantha and Tyria are distinctly African Asian and European
i also think there aren’t enough black and red charr in the world. nor are there enough red sylvari. they’re all green. what’s up with that?
Ive seen quite a few red and purple Sylvari
I don´t see any rainbow azura. Why? What Anet has against rainbow people? [ironic mode off]
Why you can´t see so much difference is: elona, cantha and kryta are continents far apart. Kryta is like europeans, pale skin, european faces. Cantha is like Orient, olive pale skin, oriental faces. Elona is like Africa, black skin, african faces.
Jesus, why people need to be so racist that they think everyone is racist?
evolverzilla.2359 its Tyria not Kryta . Kryta is only one of the nations on the Tyrian continent
evolverzilla.2359 its Tyria not Kryta . Kryta is only one of the nations on the Tyrian continent
And? Where did i said Kryta instead of Tyria?
I don´t see your point here.
What is the point of having the ability to create a character of any complexion but the game itself has all Caucasians in the humanoid cities? There are no people that look of Asian or african or any olive complexion decent? Really?
Hoebrak is Nordic. I understand the concept behind the race, but you mean to tell me that all humans must be Caucasian? Really?
Is ridiculous and shameful. It’s not just gw2 that does it but since the Devs want suggestions, how about adding a little diversity in your cities.
Chill out. If you had played Guild Wars 1, you’d know that other ethnic groups are present in the GW universe on other continents. Cantha is a primarily Asian continent and Elona is mostly African.
Also, the character creation system allows your character to be any ethnicity AND if you choose the missing sister storyline, you get to personally choose your ancestry.
Honestly, “racial equality” posts on online gaming forums are usually ridiculous.
You guys just don’t get it, do you? I think the point he is trying to make is that the Krytans in GW2 do not look like the Krytans in GW1?
Do you even lift, bro?
I think the “people of color” will come with an expansion pack in the future.

Concidering he never even mentions Krytans, and speaks specifically for Asian and African vs Caucasian, I’m going to go with, that’s not the case.

Errrmmmm…
What? Nope… he said about Asians and Africans, not about the tanned tone of COASTAL KRYTANS had. People in kryta, in the past live on COASTAL cities. They had more tanned tone, not african tone, not african faces, just tanned skin. When you go to some forest outposts you see less tanned people, in steppes, more tanned people again.
Now look at the picture.
She is krytan, she is using a whtie mantle armor and… she is caucasian.
So this “racist” discussion is kitten. Close this topic and move ahead.

Then you should proof read your posts you called Kryta a continent and referred to Cantha Elona and Kryta so you made the same mistake twice in the same post.
@adine
Australia is a continent… South America is a continent… North america is a continent…
Earth is the world.
Elona, Cantha and Kryta are continents. Tyria is the world.
I really don´t see your point here.

Read this:
“Elona, often called the Land of the Golden Sun, is a continent that is found southeast of Tyria and northeast of Cantha and the Battle Isles.”
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Cantha
“Cantha is a continent in the world of Tyria that was first introduced in Guild Wars Factions”
Like I said… CONTINENTS far apart. When you have a point please elighten me.
(edited by evolverzilla.2359)
There aren’t even any default african faces. Kind of a shame. They need too many 12-year-old caucasian girl faces.

That is the problem. Why does a FANTASY game have to reflect our race centered skin color “we are from x environment so we are all x skin tone?” What about RPers that want to play a game culture that is different but also a reflection of them? Fantasy is about creating new worlds to escape from our own. So why are we confined to the racial skin tone/ facial characteristics if our world?

are you blind? there’s different colors everywhere >_< look around!
I think I remember hearing that instead of picking the “born on the streets, born of nobility, born of whatever the last one is” option in the creation, it used to be “born of ascalonian, krytan, or Cantha” decent. Right before launch it was removed and replaced with what we have now.
I know that doesn’t acknowledge the OP, but it’s a ridiculous post so yeah.

Very first line "Tyria is a continent in the world of the same name. "
Dude, what’s the problem, you can have dark skin if you want to?
