I am here because Ncsoft GMs told me to create a topic here in the forums suggestions so if this offends anyone don’t reply. I complained to them it would cause a stir and they wouldn’t listen so here I am.

The new Zodiac Skins are amazing, I love most of them except for 1. The staff has a rams head on it, identical to the pagan god Baphomet. Its a mockery of every religion on the planet and it mocks Humanity as a whole. I find this disturbing to be seen on a Kids game which is rated E. I also find it extremely offensive. Its identical to the Occult symbols and shouldn’t be on this game. Needless to say it is a game with fake gods and a storyline but this actually represents real world Occult Symbolism which leads us to the real problem. Is there people in Arena.net worshiping this kinda stuff? And if so keep it out of the freakin game. Don’t design something that kids will see and accept as ok. Its evil and shouldn’t be messed with in any shape or form. Either you remove it or I WILL get this posted and aired. It wont be on some random, news network that no one will see either. The fact that you also allow guilds with Religious titles in the game is beyond me. I’ve submitted a ticket to Ncsoft over a month ago for a guild that was violating the TOS. They said they did an investigation and determined it wasn’t. Right! Come on, I know this subject is very touchy but it states

“The guidelines listed below outline the types of names that you may NOT use, and apply to display, character, guild, and pet names.” ~ “Reference religious or historical figures”

Anet has clearly violated their own TOS, and Ncsoft has allowed this guild to get away with it as well since it clearly is in reference to a religion. I wont name the guild clearly but anet will know who I’m talking about.

P.S. GW2 is rated T for TEEN.

also, just because it is a rams head doesnt mean its idolatry of baphoment or whoever you think it is. infact, the symbol the state of Nevada in america uses for the Big Horned Sheep (state animal) looks exactly like the one from the zodiac staff.

Second, thank you to the OP for making this staff seem cool. I was gonna just write it off as a goat, but now that I know it’s ‘true’ meaning I have to own it.

Third, I think the real injured party here is Baphomet. Poor, misunderstood Baphomet. Why don’t you like his pretty face? I’m sure his feelings are hurt that you made a whole thread about how any reference to him is offensive (sorry ‘offencive’). I think an apology is in order.

One goathead will look like every other. seems to me that you are drawing connections where there doesn’t need to be. Look at the fawns in Narnia by C.S. Lewis. They are direct similarities to the greek god pan, who was latter described as how the classic Christian devil looks. But since they clearly aren’t the devil, there is no problem.

In the US perhaps. In the UK it’s rated PEGI 12 and in Germany, where the OP claims he’s from it could be different again if their own censor board has issued a classification.

On another note, if God exists, then he’s been asleep for many millennia. You only need to look at the bloodshed and slaughter carried out in the name of religion and “race” over the years to see that: Holocaust, Rwanda, Yugoslavia, Islamic militancy, Christian militancy, Crusades, etc., etc.

If God exists, he’s not someone I’d want to be worshipping, that’s for sure.

I don’t get it OP, I actually like Baphomet, he’s a really cool guy. He gives free booze and throws some great parties.

Why should the symbolism for my main man Baphobro (that’s what we call him when we’re worshipping) be removed? Having it removed would be offensive to me and my Baphobuddies.

I too would love to send them my encouragement also, but I know in this world, that there is nothing they can do. Perhaps if the majority of their customers lived in a more rational country, there would be a better chance. However, as it stands we are dealing with ’murica. With this one nut though, they wont be removing this staff from the game, however, they will continue to censor and ban people who make any religious references in their character names or forum posts.

You do realize that the swastika is a symbol that has been used by civilizations for over 7 thousand years and the word “swastika” literally means “to be good”, or “luck”, right? It is the basis for how 4-leaf clovers were synonymous with being lucky, because the 4-leaf clover resembles the swastika symbol. Should clovers be banned? Would you boycott Lucky Charms cereal because of the shape of the clover resembling the swastika and how its being synonymous with bringing luck is directly attributable to the meaning of the swastika? Just because one guy used the symbol as the label for something bad, does not make the symbol bad, it makes the acts committed under the symbol bad.

OP, you are ridiculous! What if a weapon had a Christian symbol? Would you get upset then? I bet not. What’s your problem with pagans? Pagans are great! I’ve met many pagans, and they are nice people with a beautiful religion. So what if Arenanet IS worshipping pagan gods? There’s nothing wrong with that!

Real world religions are NOT offensive. If it’s not your cup of tea, then don’t get involved. Furthermore, it’s us humans who give power to images and symbols. They don’t mean anything bad unless we decide to freak out and say “That’s bad!”. I honestly hope this is a troll post…
