Replayable story steps + story tree
I’d say, replayable story is good enough for me. Make new characters if you want the experience the other storylines.

Yes, but some people may want to experience all the stories without having to delete so many characters to make new ones.
There is no need to delete characters, since you can buy character slots in the trading post using gems. And of course gems don’t need to be bought with real world money, since the gems-for-gold feature is in the game.
The idea of the personal storyline is to make decisions that affect your character in a certain way. To bypass that to have all the story options available doesnt make the story line for your character unique as it’s suposed to be. I would have agreed with you if the only way for players to have more character slots would be with real life money, but that’s not the case.

Valid point. I knew you could get more character slots, but the question here is: What is the ~absolute maximum~ number of character slots you can have? GW1 had an absolute cap; did they remove that cap in GW2?

I dont know about the cap, but currently it’s known that you can have more than 15 character slots.

Interesting…then, perhaps just the ability to replay completed story steps?
