I think it would be awesome if there was an NPC who would let you play previously completed story steps, only giving you reduced XP and Gold rewards and no items for recompletion. Additionally, once you’ve totally completed the personal story, making different decisions in previous story steps will unlock the alternate story steps that we didn’t take. Furthermore, for story steps where previous decisions only have a minor effect (such as which ally accompanies you on a mission), you should be able to decide which version of the story step you get by tracing a path through the story tree (only being able to select decisions you’ve actually made before) up to that step.

I hope I explained that clearly enough…

EDIT: You would only be able to go through the possible story steps presented to you by the choices you made at character creation, so if, for instance, you created a Blood Legion charr, you couldn’t play the Iron Legion or Ash Legion story steps. You would still need to make a new character for that.

I’d say, replayable story is good enough for me. Make new characters if you want the experience the other storylines.

Yes, but some people may want to experience all the stories without having to delete so many characters to make new ones.

There is no need to delete characters, since you can buy character slots in the trading post using gems. And of course gems don’t need to be bought with real world money, since the gems-for-gold feature is in the game.

The idea of the personal storyline is to make decisions that affect your character in a certain way. To bypass that to have all the story options available doesnt make the story line for your character unique as it’s suposed to be. I would have agreed with you if the only way for players to have more character slots would be with real life money, but that’s not the case.

Valid point. I knew you could get more character slots, but the question here is: What is the ~absolute maximum~ number of character slots you can have? GW1 had an absolute cap; did they remove that cap in GW2?

I dont know about the cap, but currently it’s known that you can have more than 15 character slots.

Interesting…then, perhaps just the ability to replay completed story steps?
