Ullrom – Mesmer
Single Player Dungeon crawl
Ullrom – Mesmer
This is kinda what I thought they should have done with the Story Mode for each Dungeon. Being able to do them solo would make them easier to get done as a lot of people do not want to go back and do them again to help you get them done.
I hoping that the new implementation of the dungeon rewards in the upcoming Queen’s Jubilee patch, that the 50 silver reward will be enough to bring back vets to get stories done.
Well, given the fact that Ellen and Evon candidate trials ids a great example of how hard solo dungeons would be, 1% of population could complete them the way they would be intended to be done.
The greatest challenges for dungeons is getting a group, LFG finder would help.
Off done right however, a solo dungeon would be awesome to have.
I’d really like single player versions of the current/future dungeons and fractals. Sometimes I don’t want to pug and don’t have enough guildies/friends up for a dungeon.

50s enough? No tokens or other worthy loot?
LuLz.
No.
I’m very much into this idea! All of my friends stopped playing this game so I run around a lot on my own. I would love some solo dungeons where I could test out and perfect my build. In addition to creating new content for this they could make a single solo-path for each of the existing dungeons which would reward players with the currency for the specific dungeon. Not as much though. maybe 30 instead of 60 the first time. Then 15. But yeah somekind of fractal like solo-dungeon where the difficulty increases with each completion.
Like you say, this is an MMORPG. But I actually think that more people than you’d expect run around on their own. Me being one of them.
Everybody +1 this! Even if you’re not into solo-content

Ring of Fire.
This is what I was hoping the story mode for dungeons would be – and it wasn’t. Granted, I balk at the 10-20 hour thing. A dungeon where it’s just me, and I’ll be in it for a good 2-3 hours, that’d be epic.
Back around the dragon bash update, there was talk of making all new dungeons scale from 1-5 players, but that got quashed by Anet because “forced teams = fun!” which I tend to disagree with.

lol I am sorry my /sarcasm didn’t bleed though enough…
All they need is to have dungeons with difficulty settings. For example 1-10. So you can either solo or pug with 1-4 people (5 player max). If you are really good at soloing, lv 3-4 might be the highest you can get. Higher than that you might need to pug others.
Currently all gw2 dungeons need to have 5 players fixed. I don’t know why we need this since there is no trinity class. ie. tank, healer, dps specific. All we do is take turn to aggro mob in combat and 5 seems to be the most doable count. Because of this design, solo in current dungeon is not possible since the mob is designed to fight 5 people and de-aggroing resets the mob.
So I agreed with the OP to have single dungeon added because same as the OP a lot of my friends are not playing now too XD. I use gw2lfg as well but sometimes it freezes.
1. Introduce a 10-20 hour dungeon crawl where players can leave or enter at any time and they are put back to the spot they left when reentering.
2. Dungeon is single player… I know this is an mmo.. but it doesn’t hurt to have single player activities in them3. The dungeon crawl can be increased in difficulty similar to fractals.
4. New set of equipment, skins and achievements tied to it.
5. Make it feel epic and grand while also making the player feel lonely and desperate.
6. A unique storyline tied directly to the player.
Just an idea.
Yes, I believe that this idea has some “limited” promise.
As a Guild Leader I encourage teaming up and doing various content together but personally, from time to time, I like to have some alone time too.
- 10 – 20hrs seems a little extreme to me. Let’s say you dedicate 1 hr a day, every day, to doing this Single Person Dungeon. That would take you 2-3 weeks to complete, which seems a bit much. I do get that you could do it in bigger chunks but some people have time constraints.
- True, I don’t think having a small amount of Single Player content in a “social” game, would disrupt the fabric of the MMO Universe.
- I do kind of like the idea of having it increase in difficulty but unlike Fractals, there is no one there to help you thru those parts you get stuck on, which would turn it more into a time grind/rage quit after a while. (Please excuse my use of the dreaded “G” word)
- I agree that new shinies would need to be tied to its completion but that is kind of a given for any new content, I would think.
- Your 5th point states the case quite well.
- Wouldn’t it have made sense for the Single Person Dungeon to have been implemented for the last part of the Personal Storyline? That way more people would have completed their Personal Story, instead of abandoning it at the thought of having to PUG.
