Skipping PreEvents = Less/No Loot
It’s always been my impression with The Shatterer that groups doing the pre-event don’t want any more people, since it takes longer due to scaling. That’s a specific case, though; I’ve never heard it said for other world bosses with pre-events.
As for the larger issues of people not doing the pre-events, I think that probably goes hand-in-hand with the general level of reward for dynamic events. I know that I, at least personally, do world bosses mostly for the chests, and not so much for the coin/xp/karma inherent to the event, as a dynamic event, so I’m not missing anything too significant by missing them. Even if pre-events were factored into the meta-event, I’m still just not there for the event rewards as much as I am for the big chest and bonus chests at the end, which aren’t affected by my level of participation.
I still do a lot of dynamic events, because I enjoy them, but they’re just not that materially significant. (As long as I have plenty of karma sitting in the bank, anyway.)
I also think that those that learn of events ongoing late due to dungeons, fractals, other events, ect, should not be penalized for showing up “late”. I try to do the pre events, but timing doesn’t always work that way. At times, I can finish one event, and find that the boss (for temple events) is dead, and the post event is in the defend phase, and would not like to get lesser rewards because I was busy somewhere else. For some events, I’ve gotten there to discover it just ended, and get no reward. Yes, there are lazy people, but there are others that just get there late due to other events. The only way to implement your suggestion would be to make sure only one world event at a time occurs, and that would just be crazy.
I would think fire elemental the prefect example. When there is 1 minute left before the golem breaks releasing it, that is when you see people come flooding in.
Maybe not no loot for people that just arrive for the final part but improved rewards for the pre events that are part of the chain leading to their arrival. This you get more than just some karma coin and xp. All of which the people who came in last minute were all gaining at about the same rate you were for advancing the boss chain.
Best I could think of is have the previous parts of boss chains award buffs to xp, karma, coin, and magic find (or a mf that only affects the boss chests) thus making it more rewarding for your time to do as much of that chain as possible and not just the last part. They could even be made strong and last moderate length but lost when you zone out. That would prevent buff hunters from farming the pre events just to stack the buffs, but would reward players that continued to play in that zone
I was thinking about the Shadow of Behemoth event chain.
I’d love to do the pre-events, but the one on east site is not convenient.
And people are really lazy to do that, especially when they done the last one, they will not catch up the second pre-event appearing in the swamp.
I suggest that, the pre-event P2 should delay about 30sec after P1.

Just make the pre-events take a minimum amount of time for the short ones. Boom, the “problem” of people “not being able to make it” to the prevents is sorted.
Except it’s not sorted. Are you telling me that, if I’m fighting Jormag, and a pre-event for Fire Ele pops up, and Jormag dies within the last minute of Fire Ele, by the time I get there (meaning Fire Ele will have spawned and might be down a bit, depending on time of day), I should get no loot?
Elzareth – Asura Mesmer
easy fix for this.
If you do the pre-event chain to completion where that world boss spawns, you get a Boon that lasts until you zone.
the Boon would be simply
150% Magic find on the next opened World Boss Chest
And Bam, problem solved.

There’s also the issue that with some pre-events, you barely even get a hit on something to get event credit, because they don’t scale up with the number of players.
The bosses were all buffed with the Tequatl patch, but their pre-events weren’t!
Examples:
- kill inquest in the reactor’s final chamber before C.L.E.A.N. 5000 goes boom
- protect Brogun (seriously, he’s perfectly safe when 40+ level 80s try to “share” hits on a handful of level 15 or so grawl, but you don’t get credit for walking him to the totem unless you HIT something on the way) – and all pre-events that follow
- The guys before the jungle wurm – no time to even run to the event circles because they all go down so fast
- portals in the swamp – go down in seconds
So, yeah, I think a lot of fixing needs to be done, before you have a go at players.
- Pre-events need to scale (up) properly
- Some pre-events need to be changed to be easier, not harder, with more people (Shatterer / siege collection, I am looking at you)
- Pre-events could to be more rewarding
- Ascalon is the only nation that doesn’t have a low-level world boss. The giant that haunts Nageling all the time should drop a boss chest.
I’m actually all for handing out more loot after the final boss to players who DID partake in the pre-event(s), but only if those were long enough for players to actually get there in time. (…)
