The skritt are the best race in the game, full stop. This is a fact. You, in the back – sit down; comments are for the end of this presentation.

Now where was I… oh yes. Since the skritt as individuals are, shall we say, less than blessed in the uh… wit category, yet become more intelligent in groups… why not make a skritt PC an entire small group of skritt. They would all stay together (following the ‘lead skritt’ as it were), work as a team, and so effectively be “one person”.

This, I think (a group-organism PC) would be rather unique in MMO-dom.

I DO like the skritt in the game. To me, they have been designed very well. Their voice over dialogue is amusing and sometimes thought provoking.

But with that said, would I think that they would make a good playable race? I’m not sure being a “singular” skitt is a good idea, let alone a pack of the stealing little tykes.

All time favourite dialogue in the game:

“Next time we steal manual….oh shiny….shiny manual!!!” <runs off>

All these races sucks… Instead of having charr, asura,sylavari as playable race we should’ve gotten class specific armor sets (like in gw1) so no, i don’t care about playing as a rat (skritt). Human/Norn are the one and only playable classes for me.

What about buffs to each member of the party if all the party members are skritt?

Conversely I feel like human/norn are by far the most boring races in the game. I play a human every day in real life.

Yeah I dunno why anyone would willingly choose to play a human in a fantasy/sci-fi scenario where there are other options. You spend all day being a human, where’s the escapism in being a different human?

Nah, I kid, everyone’s got their preferences. I just think a skritt-squad would make an hilarious character to play, while staying in-lore for the lil rat-heads. And I think it would be unique in all MMO-dom. Imagine the ridiculous antics they’d get up to, just trying to cast a single elementalist spell or warrior attack…

Why the undeads ? In this game misses the “Bads” or an evil faction of playable races or profession..Only well and good heroes bored and its no more funny

I LOVE the idea of playing a skritt, but im not too behind the idea of a little pack of them hehe. Id rather play a singular skritt. Skritt are by far my favorite race. Mostly for the cute voices and hilarious dialogue.

Only if I get to be a healer named Holyskritt seriously though they would be fun … can we equip the prehensil tail with a 3rd weap ?

Well, it would only make sense if you play a group of 3 skritts or more.
They are not intelligent enough to make sense becoming a playable character.

So far, only Tengu, Kodan, Centaur, Hylek and Quaggan make any sense.

I think Tengu are going to be next. There’s an area in Lion’s Arch blocked by a group of Tengu near a place that looks like where a starting area would be. Next to it is Kessex Hills, the place after the human starting area.

I’d love Tengu to be next, I loved them in GW1 and was hoping they’d be playable at launch of GW2.

Wait don’t we already have deformed skritt as playable? Oh.. wait: those are asura (sorry Asura; I couldn’t resist… In truth I like the Asura well enough lol)

… Anyways, while I do like the Skritt in game as part of the world, I don’t see them being a very good choice for a playable race. In fact, I don’t see non humanoid races being that popular in the first place. Some chart that Anet posted recently (like 2 or 3 weeks ago or something) showed that Humans were way ahead in population, I think it was the Norn next (but not really even a contender against the human pop), with the others being about even, but a step down from the Norn.

Anet has even stated they were a bit disappointed that more payers weren’t playing the other races, but it shouldn’t really have come as much of a surprise.

Most players want something somewhat familiar in appearance to a human, because most people can connect better with the human image. The other races were really well done, but aside from a few role-playing characters and the few who thoroughly enjoyed a different race enough or just like being different; most players are going to choose a more human looking appearance.

Skritt > Asura. If there was any zone that was dedicated to helping the skritt experiment and kill Asura I would replay it over and over again.

And yes if skritt were playable I would definitely make one.

I don’t see a mechanich where your character is pack of Skritts,
but just playing a single Skritt would be awesome, I like them too.

Aren’t dragons supposed to have shinies? If there was a reason to unite the skritt race into genocide of another species this would probably be it.

We all know it’s the Tengu.

There are plenty of better races out there to suggest. Skritt are not one of them. A few good ones to name:

-Kodan
-Hylek (the frog ones, not the dolphin ones)

First off, nothing you’ve said holds any water, let alone a majority opinion position. No one is going to agree with you at all in your entire point. Perhaps in some points, but not collectively. Collectively you sound like a kid who’s more interested in expressing how advanced his mental condition is rather than intellectualizing with or upon the topic at hand.

Secondly, ascetically Skritt are no where near as pleasing to the eyes as the Asura are. I hate the way Asura look, and even I can come to that logic. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say. However, comparing Skritt to Asura is like comparing Nikki Manaj’s “Bass” “song” to Mozart’s Requiem.

Third and lastly, just because you have an opinion doesn’t make you right. People often say that opinions can’t be wrong, but most often opinions are wrong. In this case, no one here would possibly agree with you on a large scale, and therefore you should give up.

Yes, I am entitled to my opinion, and you’re entitled to your opinion also. However, your entitlement doesn’t make you any less mentally disillusioned.

If your opinion bordered fact in any shape or form, then ANet wouldn’t have even considered pulling Asura out of thin air, but instead would have used a pre-created race instead. That race being…Skritt. However, they didn’t because using the Skritt as a playable race would have felt awkward. Not to mention their lore isn’t every well in tune with what ANet has planned. A personal story involving Skritt would have more to do with collecting “shinies” (much like WoW) rather than actually being interested in saving Tyria.

Therefore my opinion is far superior to yours because it follows the general logic of what ANet is actually doing rather than following a make-believe thought of what I think ANet should be doing, or what I expect them to do in the future.

The fact that you think that Skritt holds 90% more place in the story-line that ANet has developed for every race BUT the Skritt is evidence alone that you’re 100% batcrap insane or just stupid.

I’m sure ArenaNet could come up with a good way to play a pack of Skritt. It wouldn’t be entirely unique, though. Allods has a race where you play three of them at once. I never tried that race while playing Allods so I don’t know if they were a hive or just good friends.

Skritt don’t seem likely to me as the next race, but ArenaNet has consistently come up with and successfully implemented wild, ambitious things. So who knows?

Skritt as a playable race is RIDICULOUS! Get a grip!
If you want Skritt to be playable, well then I want Dredge to be
playable too. Why not? You’d wear heavy armor and you’d say that

My opinion does border on fact, dragons are renowned for hoarding treasure (shinies) and the Skritt sole purpose in life is to collect shinies. Killing dragons would be natural to them.

OT- i don’t really see Skritt as a playable race. Awesome as they are.
Having a multiple entity as a playable character is certainly a novel concept but I simply can’t see Skritt being complex enough to play the existing professions.
How would that work anyway? Say you have 3 Skritt as a single character and you play a Mesmer? O-O.
An Ele? Imagine all three casting meteor shower, my retinas burn just at the thought.
Funny but not viable I think.

Some of the other races might work out but as someone else said people do like to play more humanoid characters.
My vote would go to the Kodan but that is just preference for their Philosophy- I was really upset at the HOtW story mode!

I see the Skritt as the ‘fourth wall’ breakers of the game.

Have you noticed that all the things they find “Shiny!” are all really dull in-game wise, but to us they are all shiny because we can interact with them?

So no, they should stay an NPC race, both as a joke race (Finding what they say/do funny as their actions are comical) and as a fourth wall breaker.
