Suggestion: Enable first person mode
I do think the camera need some more fine-tuning.
In situations where you stand in front of a building, a big rock or a building, you camera just broke.
First-person may be a good option but I am also suggesting making these objects translucent in the above-mentioned situation.
Besides, I found myself holding the right-mouse-button all day. Please also allow an auto-function or a toggle for that, PLEASE.
Hi there, I am from Hong Kong and please forgive my poor English. :D
1st person view please, I agree.
1st person view please, I agree.
Yes, i need it
Agreed. the game and players could benefit from its inclusion.
I Agree with this.
Want want want want want want want want.
Honestly, this would be very useful. I’m a compulsive screenshotter, taking pictures of whatever I think looks neat. In this game, that’s a lot. However, without first person view, I have my head in the way, and often can’t get a decent camera angle due to obstructions shifting the camera around weirdly.
Imagine going first person during a zerg.
When standing still and not in combat, i’m in.
Zarturo: Elemental – Desolation.
As a Norm, I have real problems in tight spaces not being able to go into first person view. I support this suggestion.
I’ve been wanting this since bwe1
Suggestion has been made several times but I agree that it should be added.
Count me as an additional vote towards the introduction of first-person mode.
Actually I have a question on what the free camera does? It seems to be always locked.
For example when my character is running, I can’t seem to choose another angle to look for as my character will automatically run in the direction I am looking at…. is this even free?
E.g. My character is running forward, but want my camera to look at the side views of the character (i.e. left or right). So if enabled, I’ll be looking at my character side view+background, while he’s running straight ahead.
I think this camera option is lacking too right??
I, too, support this suggestion, first person mode please
Forget combat, every game has first person and no one uses it in combat.. I would LOVE to see a first person camera mode because I’m sort of a beauty lover/ screenie junkie.

For now, type /sleep to move your character out of the picture. Doesn’t always work, but it is better than nothing.
As for 1st person… YES. I WOULD LOVE IT!
I also thing a “Screen-only” mode would be nice. A function that removed other players, npcs and yourself from the screenshot.
On the options menu there should be a checbox for: Hide: [Players] [NPCs] [Self]
Forget combat, every game has first person and no one uses it in combat..
I’ve actually seen far more people use 1st person than 3rd person. I know I would use first. Always.
I desire first person view too. I only need that for picture taking, not necessarily in game combat.
I also would like to have a functioning camera when I am tightly wrapped by the surroundings. We can actually let the camera go beyond the wall or obstacles, and let the camera shows only what is visible to the toon (say, inside the surrounding walls) and back out what is invisible to the toon (say, outside the walls)
PLEASE add this – it annoys me to have to play 3rd person all the time, but more important to me is that my wife (who like me has been an EQ player for over 10 years) might not stick with GW2 without it – she plays 1st person 100%.

Yes. Amen. I remember doing CM explore. Probably the one I hate the most just because of the darn annoying camera angles. It keeps jumping around bc of the tight spaces. So I kept it zoomed it almost all the way. Most of the time enemies had long range so it became like a first person shooter… Without the effective view. LOL. I swear if I was in first person view it would’ve been much more effective since it wa practically that anyway. Many tight spots would benefit from first person view

If nothing else, it would make it a lot easier to do jumping puzzles on larger characters like Norn and Charr!
