Targeting Options Needed
I really feel like they need to tighten up that “soft” targeting… the look targeting or whatever we’re calling it. Sometimes it works well, but other times it can really get you killed. If two mobs are in a line, and one is 10 feet away and the other is 100 feet away…the soft targeting should prioritize the closer mob. I’ve had serious issues with this, where I’ll do a leap attack and it will jump right over the intended mob into a den of 5 others…aggroing everything.
I’ve also had occasions where it will glitch and send attacks to the side or behind me as I move, I guess because at the moment it registered the attack, something I wasn’t fighting was soft targeted.
I know we can always fall back on click-targeting or tab-targeting…but I actually like using the soft target transitioning to full target when possible. I think the single fix of prioritizing the closer mob would make it really intuitive and workable. I don’t know of any circumstances where I would want to auto-target a mob 100 feet away in the middle of a camp of baddies. I’ll manually target if I want him.
I think they should at least have the option to turn it off, it seems like a good idea that wasn’t implemented properly. Tho if added properly and the ability to choose what nameplates/outlines show up when I look at them (character in front of you) would be perfect, eg. : show allies/enemies toggle so instead of it soft targeting everyone, I can choose what it targets like, only hostiles , and the ability to choose what feedback on my target shows up, like their name, level, healthbar, targeting circle, red arrow on top of, all able to be toggled off/on, that’s what I want, I hope they add addons to this game if only for UI elements such as these. I personally just click target most of the time and use target next enemy once and awhile when need be, tho everyone has their own play style.
I’m not sure I fully understand your rant. I turned off my auto-targeting system, and my game works fine. If I do not have a character targeted for a target required skill, my character will just waste the skill which is my fault.
If you are saying you click most of the time, why the issue with the targeting skill anyways?
Characters- Levicus (Ele); Levicus Gear (Eng);
Levicus Shield (War)
Try configuring a key to target the “closest” enemy. “C” has been working fine for me since GW1, and it’s good here, too.
My issue is with the feedback not the soft targeting, I want to see the outline, nameplates and arrow able to be toggled, and when I have a target selected it still soft targets things, showing me useless feedback I dont care about like someone or an npc running in front of mes nameplate, and sometimes if im trying to interact with something and an npc runs in front of me it talks to them automatically because of the soft targeting function, I just want to see these things toggle able thats the problem.
