First time I faced off against Tequatl,
I was there with 30 or more level 80 characters
I myself a level 75 character
Tequatl is level 65
and the area where you encounter him
is level 55 to level 65

I was only 10 seconds of the field before I was killed,
I got up, was killed again
got up, killed, and so on
My armor broke and all I could see on the map was dead player icons,
ones the timer of Tequatl was nearly depleted we had done NO damage on him at all.

I will be fair to say that is overpowered,
Its easy to see the boss battle was designed for 50 or more level 80 players that have been playing this game hardcore day and night and are able to kill any boss without loosing even 1 health point, but unfortunately, those players are never around Tequala when normal players like myself try to beat him, nor are we able to survive longer then 5 seconds course he, his over spawning army of krait, those strange bone tentacles or even the huge bone walls blow us apart in only 2 blows while we are level 80, the maximum level of the game where you are supposedly at your maximal potential.

at this point I don’t even hesitate to say Tequatl is harder then the actual final boss of the game,

please nerf him, by removing a large amount of the krait spawn during his boss stage and removing a large amount of the bone tentacle’s that spawn around the area,
if we don’t constantly get killed by the random mobs in 2 blows then we might be able to get close enough to Tequatl to do at least minor damage, for a normal open world boss he should be beatable by at least 20 level 65 players, considering that is the area’s suggested level.

I am aware that the more experienced players would like a larger challenge and revel in dying every 3 seconds. but normal players can’t beat such high standards,

if possible, I would like to add the idea of adding a new form of instance, that allowed level 80 players to enter a huge world instance to fight a overpowered version of a world boss (for example the current Tequatl) so that more experienced hardcore players can enter that separated map in a huge group to face off against that monster, with of course a larger reward at the end
having this option of course for all other world bosses like the fire elemental, or Shadow Behemoth, who will all be a lot stronger and have a very large number of enemy mob spawns during there battle for all the die hard players to revel in being beaten to a pulp.

while the normal world boss Tequatl gets nerfed to have only little enemy mob spawns and less power, so that even a small group of players can take him down, getting of course only the normal reward for beating him, but at least being able to beat him.

I have heard that Tequatl had a overhaul not too recent ago to make him more powerful, but seriously, bosses need to be challenging fun, not overpowered overkill.

I faced off against him 3 times now, every time died in only a few seconds, and died during the course of the entire time he was spawned over and over seeing nothing but dozens of dead player icon’s on my mini map, never seeing anybody even doing so much as any damage on Tequatl before he rampages the shore’s and then flees.

Right now I even got comments from other players during map comments stating they don’t even try to fight Tequatl anymore course they can’t beat him.
Please downgrade him, let him keep his attacks, but remove the huge number of random enemy mobs and reduce his damage output so that (roughly) 15 to 20 players at level 65 (that are not organized like pro players) can take Tequatl down.

of course I am now only talking only about Tequatl but this goes for all other overpowered world bosses as well,
Its not normal that I can bring down normal enemy mobs by erasing a entire village of monsters without loosing any HP and then get killed in 2 hits, even if its a world boss,
it should be challenging, but all it is is overkill.

Shadow behemoth is by far the only world boss that I can name that could use a little more power in its regular spawn as he is completely open for damage during the entire fight as he rarely attacks at all.

Actually its not the HP I’m conserned about,
Old video’s on youtube (pre my time of playing this game) show how Taquetl was already very strong, but he simply did not have his bone wall, bone claws and krait army yet

in my own opinion i would say, remove the krait army entirely, add only a few bone claws that do minor damage only to distract players and let the bone wall apear only a few times, not 5 seconds after you have torn it down like it does not (figure of speech, but by the time you manage to get rid of the krait the actually time of facing Taquetl before the wall respawn really becomes 5 seconds)

bosses need to be fun and challanging

the current Tequatl is not fun or challenging, its just a player ant army vs a human with a flamethrower kinda a unfair fight

sure the ant army can bring down the human with the flamethrower, but the nest has more important things to do so we end up with a army of 20 ants while the rest does something else, so its currently impossible to beat Tequatl unless a very strong game guild with superior numbers decided to face off against him (been waiting 3 days now and still nobody in a large group)
so i will say, its impossible to beat him right now.

The current Tequatl is fine for those who like that sort of thing. Prior to making other world bosses more “interesting” though, ANet should look at fixing the backside issues that plague the Tequatl event.

In all honesty, 30 level 80 characters dying in only 10 seconds is not “interesting” its overkill

interesting would be having 30 level 80 characters being alive the entire fight, getting close to death after being hit 12 times by Tequatl himself rather then 2 times by krait who apparently possess over the power of the Apocalypse weapons that destroy everything they touch

15 minutes of a fun battle where only 5 people or so die 2 times while throwing everything you have at Tequatl is interesting

but currently the only thing I have seen happening is Tequatl standing behind his wall doing nothing at all but stomping the floor and roaring while the krait and bone claws kill all players before even getting close to Tequatl,
while only the most experianced players get up close to him, try to hit him, then having there attacks glance or miss and being 1 hit KO’d themselfs,
he is too overpowered for the regulair player, and wherever people want to acept it or not, a mmo exists out of 10% or less super players that can take down anything
30% of noobs who just started to play and 60% of normal players that can’t beat the new Tequatl even if they were gathered around him in a group of 200 players.

a game should be ballanced for all normal players,
most mmo’s or single player games create special instances or challanges (as previously sugested) that alow players to go to a closed off worldspace with a replica of the boss or mob they want to face off against, but boosted up to a god like level,
while normal world bosses remain on a low (but not too low) level so that the 60% of normal players can take them down while the 10% of experianced players is doing WvW or PvP or facing off against bosses in high leveled area’s,

Right now nobody faces off against Tequatl in my server except around 18:00
and even then nobody can lay even a finger on him, while most of the players even state they have given up on trying to beat him, thats proof enough for me he is overpowered.
the Irony is Tequatl himself is pretty balanced, its the Krait army and bone fingers that are too much, the Kriat root out all players before they can even get close to him,
and if you manage to dodge them the bone fingers will cut you down where you stand

the only way I can currently see on how to beat him is by moving all players in 1 huge group that stays close to each other, killing anything that gets close and then try to fight Tequatl,
only problem is the 60% of players is not that organized (nor anybody wants to do that, seriously why would anybody want to move in a small closed group?)
the fun thing about GW2 is that most quests allow you to do a quest in multitude of ways
while this boss battle has become a boring chore as the way to beating him is so boring limited,
you can’t go for the turrets as the krait and claws will kill you before you get to them
you need to take down the bone walls manually, coursing the big group of players to slowly scatter, ones you get true tequatl will use his fear shout to scatter your group even more and rebuilds his wall.
you could beat him by repeating this boring… slow… time waisting tactic over and over and hope you get him down in those 15 minutes,
but nobody of the normal players is that devoted, and most players don’t even care about strategy but just run in head first.

That is the problem with the current Tequatl, he is adjusted to the hardcore player’s playstyle, but the game should never focus on the hardcore players, but on the normal players that are not bad, but also not demi gods,

Tough I do think there should be special instances with strong bosses (like the current Tequatl) for the expert players,
especially as it alowes them to pick there team members who know the strategy of attack and know how to help each other instead of rushing in like normal players,
allowing expert players to get there challenge they desire, and giving normal players the ability to actually play the game without going back to the same boss every day, getting killed for 15 minutes and HOPE desperately that a expert player guild shows up to take on Tequatl so you can win against him by simply “being there” and getting killed a few times to get the reward after he gets killed by the expert players while you only serve as a distraction for the krait to chew on.

Join TTS or a similar guild who is equipped for fighting Tequatl. They kill him every day multiple times a day. It is currently the only way to defeat him. I don’t think the majority of servers even touch him any more, which is a shame considering how it affects the Sparkfly Fen zone on a failure. TTS always fights him in overflows so everyone involved can get in without having to guest to a particular server, at least until the zone hits the population hard cap. It is the standing around and waiting through the window that is the most annoying part of this fight these days.

seems your not reading my point here, world bosses need to be able to be killed by just a random group of players,
not pro guilds that raid the boss like its there job

thats why I sugest the special instance where bosses are larger, for the pro guilds who love to raid those bosses each day, to give them a challange to a god like level,
while normal players should just be able to take down normal world bosses in a group of 20 guys just wacking it witouth too much strategy,
sure higher leveled bosses should be more challenging, but still easy to beat even by noobs,

I mean when you would go to a football field just to go for a casual every day match, you don’t get dropped into the world champion games too right? you just get your every day game for normal players and pro games for the pro’s,

right now thats not the case. there needs to be balance.

the reason for me to post this here is not for other players to give me a strategy to beat him and tell me “the things are the way they are”

the reason I posted this here is so that the makers of the game will read this and use there god like influence of having made the game and use that to change this absurd reality and warp it into a fair reality, GW2 is a very good game and the only mmo I can play witouth getting sick, it would be a shame that Tequatl would ruin all GW2 stands for (in my own opinion) of creating a fair mmo world, as everything in GW2 is fair, the loot is fair, participating in a event is fair, but now Tequatl shows up destroying that balance by being on a god level ajusted ONLY to pro gamer’s play style while it seems as if normal players and rooky’s are just bluntly being ignored.

that’s why I posted this, in the hope that the creators see this and can ajust the game back to a fair world of gameplay, and yes, the soul reason for me of playing and supporting GW2 is for being the only mmo that gives the player a fair gameplay and does not ask for a monlty fee (thus why i spend money to the gem store to offer my financial support out of sheer free will, something i would never do for any other mmo)

so please, don’t let us down now!

I don’t know for sure, I only know how the battle was from youtube video’s pre the update, and I did not see the bone walls or bone fingers in the video’s,
the update note for Tequatl rising also states it adds the bone wall and bone fingers so I can only asume they are new,
(I also noticed Tequatl in the old video’s went down properly, he was not too strong and not too weak, 20 people could easily take him down, I can agree that Taquatl should be a little stronger)

but the new Tequatl is pretty much a god compared to the old one, i mean this Tequatl should just be the final boss instead if he remains this powerful.

Edit: after a few more video’s I did notice some bone claws in the distance, but no bone wall, the bone claws also did not seem to do a lot of damage compared to the ones that exist now, and there was no krait army,

thats the big difference, in the old version everybody was always gathered around Tequatl, the new ‘stomp to the ground’ can give Tequatl a better version of crowd controle, but the krait army, the bone wall and overall huge damage done by everything and over spawn of bone claws is just too much at it,

if the old boss battle would have only gained the ground stomp power and a slight increase in Tequatl’s own power then the boss battle would have been perfect.

This shows the bone wall in the original event. The tendrils, more use to throw you in the the original than anything. I watched a video of the new event, this is an event designed for a large well organized group. A group who has sub teams and everyone has well defined roles. This is a “guild event”. The only other similar event I’ve done, that I can think of, is the Cathedral of Eternal Radiance, which also requires a relatively large well organized group…it’s a gong show otherwise.

of course its supposed to be challenging. Before, Teq was killed so fast and by the time someone shouted “Teq up,” and other players were scrambling to get there, he’d already be at like 30% health then he’d die before the rest of the players got to him and got the chest loot.

I’ll admit it is a little frustrating now with all the krait and poison, but it actually made the fight more interactive, especially with the turrets to clear all the poison etc.

It’s actually a lot like fighting the claw of Jormag minus the poison and 15 minutes, but you use the Pact weapons to break down the ice wall, just like how you would vs tequatl breaking down the bone shield around him. There’s also a lot of that Frozen Ground that stacks up if you’re standing in/near it too long and don’t forget the tons of ice brood minions that spawn that you have to deal with.
