The Top 10 Things GW2 Needs to Improve.
We definitely need more permanent events, they need to take away the exceedingly long timers on dragons and improve those, they need to add permanent DE’s and permanent metas to the game every month and get rid of this temporary stuff that some people cannot finish due to real life constraints.
Let’s see some other suggestions. Most things for guilds. Yes, we have the missions but they’re what? Once a week for maybe 30 min? Right now, unless you’re a wvw guild there’s just not much to hold a guild together. Endgame content again unless you’re wvw or pvp where’s the end game? You either get all your gear instantly or you have to grind endlessly for months on end for your legendary. There’s nothing in between to hold your interest. Which is funny because they said we wouldn’t grind and that’s ALL I’m doing currently. Moreover, they continue to make farming more difficult thus giving me less incentive to play. What bothers me the most is they said that precursor’s were too far out of reach when they were at like 100 g now the really good ones are 500-700 g. How is a new player ever supposed to reach it? There’s no incentive other than praying it drops off a vet guard in wvw – happened to a guildie.
And I’m sorry grinding out CoF 500000 times for the gold is NOT fun. And your stated philosophy is the game should be fun not a chore.
I have a new video uploading as we speak that covers a lot of this. It should be up in an hour.

Here we go:
Risk Vs. Reward is a big problem in GW2 and it’s the reason many belive GW2 has no endgame.
Again, that video hit the nail on the head.
I enjoyed the challenge of UW/FoW?/DoA and even if I didn’t get that rare item, there was usually money to be made for your time/effort.
As it stands now GW2 is very boooring. Doing the same meta events and grinding Orr/Karka events is not the idea that I had when GW2 was released.
The end game content of GW1 was one of the things that made the game fun and long lasting.
If no end game content is introduced then I cannot see myself playing for much longer.
I have already noticed my gaming time being elsewhere and that is truly a shame.

imho there’s an ingamesystem missing, which shows people where big events are going on. Everytime I come by a boss area naturally, the boss is never up.

It is something I’d love to be implimented into the LFG system. Being able to get people to come help a large event in progress that you stumbled apon and can’t compelte solo would be nice.
At some point in the video, I don’t remember which, the issue of “needing to go to other zones to level up just so you can continue your personal story” was brought up.
This is what killed GW2 for me. It completely interrupted the flow of questing to be stuck in a zone three levels behind your personal story quest, and 2 levels below the lowest nearby reputation heart. So now I have to go find some other zone and grind out hearts so that I can return to the story? I don’t mind if that happens once or twice during the course of the entire leveling up process, but it happened to me several times on my highest level character….who is 32. Seriously? You need to revamp your leveling process if that is constantly occurring.
On the topic of the personal story….one thing I would add to that, maybe even give it a separate number, the glaring lack of lore regarding classes. Seriously, I love GW2’s classes, I’m not bashing them, in fact I wish other fantasy MMOs would include some of the ones that I have yet to see done well outside of GW2, such as the Necromancer, the Engineer, and the Mesmer!
But there is a serious lack of lore surrounding them. I dig that there’s no race-class combination restrictions, but some of them that make zero sense with the lore we have SERIOUSLY need to be addressed. A few examples…
1. If the Charr supposedly distrust magic, why do they let Elementalists, Necros, Mesmers, Guardians, etc run around with no seeming reprecussions?
2. Norns are big into honor, right? Yet no one gives a crap if I run around as a Norn thief?
3. Sylvari are living plants. Their cities are a living tree with living plants serving functions that other cities would use tech for. So how in the world is it that they have necromancers? Or Engineers for that matter?
4. Actually, why the hell do ANY of the races let Necromancers run around??
5. What the hell powers a Guardian’s non-martial ability?
You get the idea.
None of these complaints should be taken as “I want race class restrictions”. I don’t. I just want some sort of in-game explanation for ones that seem to not make sense. Throwaway NPC dialogue. Maybe an occasional comment from a NPC city/town guard. Something.

I mentionend that because it was also a problem for me, especially early on in the PS story when I was really interested in it. I eventually took up crafting, explored the capital cities, farmed a few events and somethimes even did go and compelte other zones but it was pretty immersion breaking.

I do like that Anet gave us the freedom of choice with the race/class combinations. And I love your idea of some throwaway dialouge from NPCs as it’s one of the things GW2 has that no other MMO can compete with and I enjoy it immensly.
Hello,
it will probably takes 6 months or something for Arenanet to make a proper dungeon, so i think we just need to have patience again, like we have already 6-7 months for our end-game. Now we just have to play lame temporarily content , with achievements as " Pummel pinata’s". I really love GW2, but they are now just slacking,, its a bad thing because players will leave the game of this! But back to our " End-Game", our endgame is now CoF/AC/ARAH etc. Those dungeons are supposed to be hard, but the sad thing they aren’t hard. Our “End-Game” is getting solo’ed by Wars/Guardians. War and guardians can solo AC and CoF and even Arah ( Well, with some skip-exploits, but still, you can’t name it as "End-Game if something is solo able in my opinion). End-Game is supposed to be hard, to challenge players and reward them with gear/tokens etc, Our " End-Game" is like grind grind grind, and grind. Its a bad thing for a game like GW2 cuz GW2 can be a awesome game, but they really need to polish the game.

I COMPLETELY AGREE with the Our “End-Game” is getting solo’ed by Wars/Guardians. War and guardians can solo AC and CoF and even Arah ( Well, with some skip-exploits, but still, you can’t name it as "End-Game if something is solo able in my opinion) This is really terrible, its affecting a great deal of the game content. I even added a small suggestion to try and maybe help solve this problem, to maybe solve this.

I’ve said before that’s an interesting idea but it won’t solve the combat problems. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Fix-the-Guild-Wars-2-Un-Holy-Trinity/ is a much more in depth post on that subject.
Wow 5 pages… yeah might decide to read it some other day.
As for the original video, yeah it seems fairly fair, the issues being brought up are fairly and I think ANet should address them, granted I also agree that ANet has partly addressed some of them.
Guys i made a suggestion but im not sure about the idea, please give me your opinion
Here is the link
I really don’t understand how the design team managed to let the warrior and guardian classes get so out of hand. Especially the guardian:
They have some of the best DPS in the game
They have some of the highest armor in the game
They have some of the highest HP regeneration in the game
They can literally overload themselves with boons all by themselves
They have the best support options in the game, in the form of aegis, regeneration, healing, stability, retaliation, protection, warding, swiftness, quickness, might, fury condition removal and reflection! That is insane!
Can render themselves invulnerable!
You have a class that out does a necro on nearly every aspect of the game. It is completely self sustaining too.

Just saw the video on youtube and followed the link here. Bumping it in hopes a dev reads it and comments. At least some reassurance that they understand and are working on some of the problems listed in this video.
You don’t always have to tell us a time table for when things will be fixed. Just admitting you know there is a problem and naming specific things you are fixing in the future goes a long way.
“That big kitten Norn with The Juggernaut”
In the 6 months since you made this video, it seems like ArenaNet has done a lot to fix some of these things. There’s still a ways to go, but I’m glad to see Magic Find got fixed as well as WvW being improved. It’s still not as good as it could be, but ArenaNet is definitely trying to move in the right direction. One thing that surprised me in your video is the event where the ministry guard attacked you in relation to your personal story. I had never seen such a thing in the game. Then, the day after I watched it, I was in Bloodtide Coast, and a risen commander popped up and shouted, “We’re going to send you to shake hands with Tybalt!” Same deal. I assume that if I do that again on a vigil or priory character, the same event my trigger, but say Forgal or Sieran respectively. But if so, that just goes back to the issue of personal story becoming increasingly less personal as you continue. I would like to see personal story be more divergent than convergent.
ok so this topics a bit old, and yes a lot has been fixed. however as mentioned there are still points made that could still be improved upon. just my 2 cents Anet, give this video another look through and c what u have still to learn from your players!

Or… Why not highlight those points in your post?
There are so many things I could think of that this game needs to get implemented to get improved, that it gos far beyond 10 points.
However, I’ll post just the first 10 simple things that come into my mind, that can be written down with one to two lines and should be easily changed/implemented:
From 10 down to 1:
10) Improvement of the Party System to incentivize to rather play with Party, than alone for some nice Bonus Reward Effects when you do things like Dynamic Events, Dungeons, WvW, Crafting, Gathering Materials ect.
Party Leader/DC or Leave Issues must get finalyl solved, that if the Leader leaves7dcs, that the Leadership moves onto the next player of the Group so that everyone stays in the instance and doesn’t get automatically kicked…
9) Implementation of Class Specific WvW Traits to improve the Class Roles in WvW and give every class more war specific tasks that fit to the classes, like that Thiefs get played out like Infiltrators that sabotage enemy siege weapons, try to get important Enemy Infos through Espionage/Stealth and steal Enemy Supply to use it for their own advantage. from for example killed Dolyaks converting the stolen Supply into Supply packs, that can be delivered into the own Towers/Keeps
Merging all the Borderland Maps into 1 single huge Map.
8) Implement Mounts and Player Housing, which would be two really great new money sinks and options for ANet also to make money in the Shop.
7) Implement all of the missing Minigames finally, like Polymock, Archery, Minipet Arena, Rollerbeetle Racing (simple has to return), Bar Brawls, make out of Lunatic Inquisition a Minigame as also too Dragon Ball and Snowball Battles and make certain Minigames with a high PvP part also count for PvP Glory/PvP Wins to give Minigames a higher incentive to play them. Its stupid to way always a whole year, just to play some specific minigames, when you could basically play them always with a kind of rotation like Minigames are handled now.
Minigames should offer also better “prizes” rewards, than just only money bags.
Let us earn some tokens or so, that we can turn into other rewards, like Minipets, Armor/Weapons, Back Items,. finishers, Sigils/Runes ect.
6)Split the Trait System up into Traits, Abilities and Talents to improve the Character Progression System and add with Talents also specific Sub Classes for each Class.
5) Improve the Battle System by making it a real Action based real time combat system through 100% full support of the Z-Axis also on land battles, more interactive combat mechanics, like Mid Air Combos, grabbing and throwing the Enemy.
Remove passive Auto Block Skilsl and change the game into active blocking with guard breaking mechanics, that if you guard too long, that enemies can break through your defense and stun you. This removes brain afk overpowered gameplay of Warriors/Guardians and makes GW2 finally alot more balanced and player skill based as this game should be! We also have to actively dodge, so people shouldn’t have problems with active blocking/parrying for counter attacks too >.>
4) Make Colors finally accountbound again and make Weapons also finally dyeable.
Remove on the same move all brainless outdated racial armor restrictions to give us 100% full access for fashion in this game and add to the Shop to all T3 armors of the game various elemental reskins to be able to buy or make out of them crafting/mystic forge recipes to upgrade the normal T3s to the elemental versions.
3) Make this game finally really rewarding and remove some RNG out of this game, where no RNG belongs to, like makign the game a bit mroe rewardign through increased drop chances for Black Lion Chest keys and guaranteed Key drops for specific achievements, liek reaching an achievement point chest, doing every xx daily, get one for the monthly and so on … reduce drop rate of the chests, remove keys from the shop and replace them with a Gold Find Booster thats still missing…
2) Add alot more Skills, let us again search for our new skills through findable teacher npcs, which can teach us for specific successful done tasks new skills or let us elite skills hunt down again by killing special boss monsters.
1) Make in general expansions, give us more new maps to explore, alot more new dynamic events, that need to be constantly added to make all maps richer of events, add more new vistas, new skill points.
Maybe implement something totally new to collect and search/find on the maps, like Artifact Fragments, Instanced Missions (Crusades) to fulfill ect.
And that are just the 10 most big points I come up with.
