Just as all Classes can change weapons and change tactics with the different powers sets available, let classes be also able to change their power set with the same weapons by changing their armor class. This will change the abilities of the weapons the class uses giving new depth to the class any even greater versatility.

Example, currently in pve some weapon/builds are not very useful because there is too much risk in using them with so little survivability. The elementalist is the classic examples many elementalist choose to only use staff because of the safety range gives them. On the other hand warriors can take a heavy hitting build and are able to fall back on their armor to not get destroyed in seconds. If the range of a class could be semi linked to their armor class (which in part the best builds are almost dictated this way right now). There would be many more possible builds and it would allow for people who want to play an up close elementalist to have a realistic option.

Of course giving all this flexibility from the get go is too much for a new player/character so it would be best if 1 armor type would be unlock at say 50 and the next at 80. This would help new character and fans of more traditional games to feel like their character is still growing past 30. I have heard from many people and close friends that they get bored past 40 because they feel like they aren’t getting anything anymore. Their character will be the same forever and they will spam the same skills from 40 – 80 and for the rest of the end game. Of course a more experienced player knows this is not completely true but it does bear some weight.

With this method you also don’t need to come up with completely new class mechanics and theme and would give players certain things they always wanted like a long range build for guardians.

TL;DR Armor + Weapon give new skills. Example Heavy armor ele with dual dagger tearing face off in close range and not dying for a change.

P.S. class name / symbol change for when you change armor type would be awesome.

How is that more versatile than having 1 skill set per weapon per armor plus the change in survivability.

This actually sounds like a kick kitten idea, but alas. We come to the dreaded impassible wall of the Anet’s “Give a kitten” meter that seems to be frozen at “Below Zero.” At the moment, they have showed no desire to change any gameplay changes. They play too safe to make anything actually exciting.

Till they get a back bone and decide “Lets make something the community would actually talk about” your idea will be lost in the crypt of suggested ideas.

Prove me wrong! I 100% invite it! Would make me more than happy.

The main Idea of this post is to add versatility, I’m sure if this comes to life people will be asking for special storage or wardrobe (like when you change your battle clothing to the custom common set) to keep the Heavy, Medium and light gear. One can imagine an Gem store Item for this.

In some games changing Heavy, Medium to Light armor has a significant impact on how a Class works. A common example is the lighter armor usually enhances attack/magic power by sacrificing defense.

My suggestion would only affected the powers of the already existing weapons giving you more option to your chosen class, for more survivability, versatility, tactical, originality and more attune to each players original combat style.

This can also solve the Issue we been having in PvE where the parties that do dungeons are compose of all Heavies and a lone Mesmer or some other class. I really hope they find a way to balance this in PvE its really hurting the game. Its seems that the New Trinity Arena Net offered has ways to go.

Actually this idea came to me because I encountered this situation with my Elementalist and some of my friends so many times we discuses it and they ask me to post it. We think this will help tons this problem and work toward the New Trinity Arena Net wanted to offer players.

It’s an interesting idea but it would be a very difficult system to impliment and if Anet can’t get their current system to work with their new trinity concepts (here BTW: http://gw2101.gtm.gu.../healing-death/) they have no chance of getting this right.

Indeed! Is either this or they let the Professions use other weapons that they could not use before.

This idea will also give reason to want to get the other awesome armors that the game offers. I’m sure there are many who love to get the hands on other armor sets besides their class restriction.

Another way to do it is they unlock the armors for all classes and just add some kind of boost in stats depending on the Light, Medium or Heavy Armor that affects the strategy of how you fight.

Soldier’s stats give you power, toughness, and vitality. This increases your survivability to greater than that of a heavy armour profession.
Berserker’s stats give you power, precision, and critical damage. This doesn’t benefit your survivability at all, leaving you as squishy as if you were wearing light armour.

I’m a little bit concerned that you don’t know this already. Maybe you should spend more time getting to know the game before you make suggestions for such huge changes.
