I play a few different characters, yet one of my characters has a LOT of dyes unlocked, including some colours I’d like to use on other characters (like making a steampunk themed asura)

I don’t really understand why dyes aren’t account bound? I don’t see how, with 500+ dyes to unlock it would kill the market of them THAT badly…

Is there something i’m missing? Does anyone else want the same?

Search function. And no, I prefer dyes to be this way so that down the road when everyone has every dye on their main, there is still a market for dyes and a reason to collect them (for alts).

If they were account bound, years down the line all dyes would essentially be worthless aside from legendary creation. The way it’s set up now, if you want all dyes on all your characters you have some good time and gold sinking ahead of you.

It also means that Anet can sell more dye packs in the gem store. If everyone has all the dyes eventually, gem sales stop permanently. Not good for business.

Considering the dye packs in the store, I believe Mkalafut’s got the right idea about the situation.

At least you don’t have to purchase dye every time you wish to change your armor’s color regardless of if it’s one you’ve used before or not, and they got rid of the need to mix by giving us plenty of options.

Completely forgot that dyes were available in the gem store! Makes sense now, and I doubt that it will get changed at all!

Interesting. Personally, I’d never spend a gem on Dye Packs UNTIL they were unlocked across the entire account when used.
