tie player housing to personal story
I feel the same way man.

Leave your thoughts on it maybe.
Also, I’d like to say, while I personally haven’t quite finished my personal story, I have heard it isn’t very rewarding at the end. That is to say that you don’t get anything so incredible that it’s like "yeah that was worth it!’ Adding a player house as a reward to finishing the story would be make it all WELL worth it. However, YOU KNOW people would complain that they had to do the story to get player housing. Not to mention something like that might be better if it was account wide I think.
I’m certainly not against player housing but I just don’t see the point of it. So you have a house, you put some stuff in it to look at, trophies and then what? If I had such a thing I can’t imagine I’d spend a lot of time standing around in there looking at it much less go out of my way to do so. Even if it was one of those things where guild members or friends could join you I can’t imagine anyone would have anything so mind blowing that they would all want to hang out in there.
Now if it had some other benefit like being able to earn other permanent resource nodes that would be slightly more beneficial. Even then it would probably be like I do now and just keep an alt parked at the home instance for my once a day mining. I messed up and put my infinite pickaxe on an alt I ended up hating, LOL. They should make thoise account bound but that’s a different request.
I’m trying to think of other things that might make me want to hang out inside other than a miniature version of The Sims. Maybe some kind of earned or gem store mini game? A permanent home Box O Fun would be awesome and a great way to encourage visitors.
Anyway, I hope they add it for those that want it. I guess I just don’t see much use for it. Of course keep in mind if any housing items are put in the gem store people will start running around with their heads exploding screaming, ’It’s not fair! Anet is greedy!" That pretty much happens with every decent gem store item.

I really want player housing, and it always made sense to me to connect it with the personal story. Then at least you would have a reason to repeat the later, generic parts on all your characters, rather than stopping after the racial and order chapters.

Maybe they could allow you to have a garden where you could plant your own herbs that could be gathered once a day. And maybe two crafting stations that reflect the crafts you have active. Ultimately you make a good point. But maybe things like these could help you personalize it to your own needs. People love vanity things for the most part so still having something like this that displays their feats that could be upgrade-able in some way would likely be well received.
