7/8 out of 10
The name is good and I like it but it isn’t amazing.
My character’s name is Katoptris
PS: I was thinking of making this thread for a while, good to see it on the
Sylvari forums
I like it, but I noticed a trend for Sylvari names. They usually have 2 vowels consecutively in some part of their name. For example, Caithe, Trahearne, Faolin, etc.
I named my elementalist Elmentaes. I felt like following the trend!
PS: As ^ stated, this will be an interesting thread!
my guardian with the branch head and olive green skin is called “Twiggy Greenwood” (yes I picked the thinnest famale form!)
7/10 mine is Supreme Extreme.
8/10

Mine is Nocture The Wise
6/10, I like more shorter names XD

7/10. I like japanese names.
8/10 if it has that asian look.
9/10 if if has that asian look with the mushrrom head.
Mine: Boris Wood.
8/10 the name is awesome
9/10 if it’s a bark colored
10/10 if its a ranger or warrior cause the name fits lol
Eyota is my sylvari’s name and she’s a Mesmer (EE-yo-ta or Ay-yo-ta)
Which pronunciation sounds better?
8/10. I like the Ay-yo-ta pronunciation, myself.
My female Mesmer’s name is Amarwen.
8/10 I like the sound of it ^.^
Mine is Ignis Oakheart, the elementalist who favors fire.
7/10 I have never heard of the name Ignis, very original!
My lvl 80 ranger is Phenona
Lvl 50 Mesmer Somaina
Lvl 20 warrior Carinath
Running [Lost] in IoJ
7.5/10
they roll off the tongue nicely
Female Sylvari Engineer
Riley Underbush
8/10
First they go together well, secondly I usually don’t like plant names, however they combine very nicely.
Abriel Lafiel(Doing last name first, for those who don’t know of the style)
7/10 for the “roll off the tongue” effect
Osaira, Syvlari Ranger of The Vigil
9/10 its simple and your suffix title goes well with it.
I have a 32 thief and I named him Noxium Darkglade.
I have tried the other races and I just cant get into the stories, so i will be making more Sylvari, I like the premise of the race, its original.
6/10 Would be higher but the “Nox” in the first name and “Dark” of the last name make it sound redundant
My character is “Trynt”
Mesmer of the Vigil
6/10 Would be higher but the “Nox” in the first name and “Dark” of the last name make it sound redundant
My character is “Trynt”
Mesmer of the Vigil
I understand its a nod to an old guild I use to run on another game, Nox Noctis, which means the depth of darkness =)
8/10 that’s a good solid name; I hope you’re wearing cultural armor to really look the part.
“Audrey the Second” – I love getting random tells from people quoting lines from Little Shop of Horrors, makes my day.
5/10. First glance, I’d say it’s a human name. And how can they have a “second” when the first generation is only 25 years old!
I got three Sylvari.
The first is Tayshva (was a third choice, as my main choice was stolen by ANet, and by the time I could enter a second name, my second choice was gone as well). She’s a thief. I’m not really satisfied with that name and might buy a renaming option if it ever would be available.
The second is Cynddeiriog Blaidd (Blaidd for short) . He’s a ranger and his name is Rabid Wolf in Welsh.
The third is Drychweddu, a kitteny (silly filter… “excessively proud of oneself”) mesmer girl, with the Welsh name Mirror.
8/10 I love how proper all of your Sylvari names are! I also think it’s great when names have meanings in other languages. Cynddeiriog Blaidd translating to ‘Rabid Wolf’ sounds particularly cool.
Mine is Daestra, who is a Sylvari Necromancer. There is also an Ele, but I’m not satisfied with her name and would love to change it!

6/10 it sounds too rough for a sylvarian name.
Plaetora Sativa, Mesmer female
Plaetora means many as for the clones. And sativa is part of the name of the canabis, as for the mind messing.
(edited by Ludovicus.7980)
9/10 Very original, at first sight it just feels like the perfect sylvari name for a mesmer
Forenzo
Thief of the Order of Whispers
7/10. nothing special, but partially fitting according to Sylvari lore (no last names)
Warden Ciana, female Elementalist. (Ciana means ‘ancient’ in Gaelic)
I like the name, Ciana, fits perfectly the Sylvari theme 10/10. Personally I don’t like the plant names, I rather prefer the Celtic, Wellish, Gaelic. Mine is a Ranger called Elidr (a Celtic name meaning sorrow, I liked it phonetically). His loyal companion is a Fern hound called Fergus.
Let’s see-
Damjana [Thief], Serbian and Macedonian feminine form of Damian, meaning “To Tame.”
Ashoka Iretol [Elementalist], with Ashoka being Sanskrit for “without Sorrow.” The lst name was just something I picked because it rolled well with the name.
Ithai Stanimir [Mesmer], Ithai being Hebrew for “with me”, Stan being Slavic for “stand, become” and Mir being Slavic for “peace”.
Hollis Feidlimid [Warrior], Hollis being derived from an English surname meaning “holly trees” and Feidlimid being Irish Gaelic for “beauty” and “ever good”.
c:
7/10 its an ok name, nothing particularly great about it but its good.
Boon Dagerra is the name of my lvl 80 thief whith dark blue skin and white hair. its the main name i use for all my elf like chrs mostly whith that look.
7/10 I don’t like Boon as a name at all, but with Dagerra it sounds very interesting, reminds me of many things: Hanna-Barbera cartoons, Pantera band, Bagheera from Mowgli…
My main char name’s Silveria Dorado [Engi], because she’s all colored silver and gold (dorado = golden in Spanish).
The other one’s Heluin [Ranger], I took it from The Silmarillion and it means blue star. His fern hound has a better name: Fernir.
9/10. You used a name from the Silmarillion and I feel like it fits rather well with Sylvari naming conventions. The first name in your post isn’t something I would pick myself, but it did make me smile xD.
My Sylvari Elementalist is called Amfortas Agravain. I wanted to go with something Arthurian and since I’m a GW1 Vet I’m hooked on having character names with 2+ names. So he’s an atypical Sylvari and as such has decided to go with more human naming conventions.
10/10 ^^
My sylvari necromancers name is Nocturne The Wise
9/10 Very original, at first sight it just feels like the perfect sylvari name for a mesmer
Forenzo
Thief of the Order of Whispers
Actually, I don’t have such character, so if you wish to create it, the name is not taken. My mesmer is a human male. I just made up the name.
Plaetora Sativa I mean.
7/10 (Nocturne The Wise) – Nocturne goes well with that class type, however myself I’m not very fond of all those “The Wise” or “The Mighty” etc. suffixes
My female sylvari necromancer is called Demonic Mantra
6/10
I see names like that all the time..it’s very common, but overall I do like it. It has a nice ring to it.
My Sylvari name is HetHeru (name of an Egyptian goddess) HetHeru is the Female counterpart of Male Heru.. She is all about beauty(my Mesmer always looks good), imagination and artistic expression (my clones), she is charming and Love to help others (support role).
6/10.
My slyvari ranger’s name – Daeron Locien ~ which means Mighty Dragon.
GW2’s main quest and also the slyvari’s purpose being all about anti-dragon stomping machines…so I thought..why not go for a bit of irony? There’s always a place for irony :P
(edited by Estel.5701)
8/10 – Nice one! However, what comes to mind is Sanderson, Tolkien, Salvatore etc. – I mean heard that type of a name many times before. But still a good one
My female sylvari mesmer is called Viva La Levativa.
6/10, it’s a medium rating because it doesn’t really match the naming conventions, but not too low because that just seems like fun to say!
I’ve made two new characters since I last posted on here so I wanted to share.
Female Ranger Awyne, and female Guardian Eluned.
Picks below.
Awyne – 9/10 – this reminds of Tolkien’s Arwen for some odd reason. Very nice though.
Eluned – 6/10
My Sylvari Necromancer is Autumnheart. A bit long but Autumn was taken. :/
8/10, pretty good for a necro, thought you could do " Autumn Heart ", space in between :P
My sylvari name is Loanel
8/10 nice flow to it )
Elementalist: Rootyard Kindling
6/10 i don’t like names with real words in it
Mine is : Trakz Kryptiq (Ranger)
7/10
My sylvari warrior’s name is Autumn Azalea (Azalea being a flower name) and I chose to call her Autumn because of her colouring. I noticed that a lot of people make their sylvari very brightly coloured.. I chose more earthy colours and made her skin a brownish red.
9/10 (Nice shades of orange ^^)
Tongkat Ali – Thief with filthy mouth :p
What do you guys think of a Sylvari Thief (if possible) named:
Rantaine
?
-J.R.R. Tolkien
6/10, it’s an interesting name and it really does suit a thief well, but it sort of sounds Southeast Asian and not too lore-friendly as a result.
My two sylvaris are called Rytona and Finval. Rytona is named after a Celtic goddess of fords and Finval a name I spun out of nowhere but made because I wanted the name Finn in the name at least.
rytona 8/10 because of the idea
finval 9/10 sounds angelic and i like it^^
My Sylvari Necromancer is Midinight , comes from midi because its my common nickname and midnight was taken anyway.
and for the sake of the “dark image of necros” ive made her looking cute, not evil
(ignore the fan/worshiping content of the screenshot >.< )
9/10 I think it’s very clever. I like how it looks like Midnight at first glance, but it isn’t, it’s better.
My mesmer is Lynea Ash. Lynea is a varient spelling of a small mountain flower, Ash of course the tree, which I had to add since just Lynea was taken.
10/10! It sounds prety, and fits a sylvari perfectly! I also like the idea of useing plant/tree related names.
My Sylvari is a mesmer, her name is…
Maile Alyxia
8/10 maile is a cool name but i don’t think alyxia fit very well
My Thif is Yhin Sakuro
Elwyn Toh’vel | Guardian, fighting for peace |
Yhin Sakuro meh, to me it looks kitten chi name which doesn’t imo suit sylvari much. 4/10
9/10
LOVE the name! It would have been a 10/10 if it was say a Human or Asuran. I just feel like it fits them more.
My Sylvari Necromancer’s name is Alvairra.
