Iris Redflower, Ascalon Remembers
7/10 cute flower reiteration though
mine is Fferyllim,a Necro. i read the wiki and it said their names were Celtic so i found this one because it sounded particularly Fae-ish and added -im to the end…kinda just rolls off the tongue you know? I didnt add a surname because you are all my brothers and sisters and relatives because all of us salad-people are Tyrian hippies lol
you have as many Oscars as Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp. :)
Like sound and faeishness of it and10/10 for bothering to look up lore/wilki. I just changed my main to Mr Greendyn. Wanted something reminiscent of the Greenman, and according to Google translate dyn is man in Welsh. Also he is mostly green. Class is warrior
9/10 after knowing the story behind the name. Nice one I like it.
My mesmer’s name is Feral Witchchild
Mesmer – Necromancer – Ranger – Elementalist – Revenant
8/10 it sounds intimidating. And funny at the same time.
My necromancer is Avariella
And my guardian is Beretta Banyan
Avariella means small strong woman and I thought it sounded good as well. And the other name is just obvious references.

9/10 – In my opinion quite good Sylvari name ^^
7/10 – Not as good for a Sylvari.
My Sylvari name is Beckiiri.
7/10 without knowing any backstory/meaning.
My sylvari’s a female mesmer and as I run with the Prism theme across most of my characters…
Shattered Prism it is!
Personally I would’ve gone with a more deeper character name than.. well, it’s hard to put into words. It makes sense with its background, while it’s unfortunate as I cannot relate to or create a deeper background thought of your character. 7/10.
My male sylvari is named Ayroc Wyldmare. Wyld is from the Wyld hunt, while mare is from the nightmare. I like to think of him as a darker hand of Mother, one that wouldn’t neccesairly be accepted among the Sylvari. But Mother understands that he is a needed deed to battle the ways of evil.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
(edited by nacario.9417)
I really like the second name of Your character, the background seems really cool, not sure about the first half though so “only” 8/10
As for my main sylvari (i have 3) he is a ranger, the name is Elbereth Rallathil, first part is based on elven character from “In Sylvan Shadows” written by R.A. Salvatore one of my favorite fantasy writers. The second part is also from “Forgotten Realms” world it’s the name of one of the elven Gods : Rillifane Rallathil who “is the elven god of protection of woodlands and the guardian of the harmony of nature” – quoted from FR Wiki.
I’m not really a fan of sylvari with two names, given they’re all part of the same family, but it is a really cool name nonetheless. I’d say an 8/10.
My sylvari main’s name is Rosaera. I know, naming her after a rose is super original, but I liked the symbolism of a beautiful flower that is admired by many, but has thorns hidden to catch those who underestimate it unawares. I made her quite small and thin, and generally more cute than dangerous looking. But she’s a warrior who is quite capable of taking an opponent apart in a few seconds, and actually pretty durable too, despite her appearance. Her “thorns”, if you will.
Lanacea (Necromancer), Kívha (Mesmer), Saerla The Wanderer (Ranger), Rosaera (Warrior)
Grandmaster of Echoes of Fate in the Sea of Sorrows
Rosaera…9/10 – love the name.
I run four Sylvari:
Joan of Bark – Guardian
Destiny’s Hedge – Ranger
Wormwood – Necro
Roisín Dubh – Ele (gaelic for ‘little black rose’)
The last name follows me from game to game…
10/10 for the eles name mine is Jarek The Bad Salad
Andúnë Faroth, level 80 sylvari ranger.
8/10 bad salad made me laugh haha
mine is Blossom Tree
8/10 bad salad made me laugh haha
mine is Blossom Tree
Your name is certainly a good Sylvari name 7/10 though as its not exactly original.
My Male Sylvari’s name is Mórgoath, it has a sort of Celtic or Irish ring to it. Im a Hunter btw for those interested.
9/10. That name even implies you’re one with nature. Good choice.
My Sylvari Necromancer’s name is Nekosoul.
7/10!
Baneroot,
Thief
9/10. A good name for a Sylvari.
I first thought of a “plant” name as well, but as there are many Sylvari with celtic names (like Niamh) I called my ele Sionnachan (pronounced: shunnachan, the ch like in Loch Ness).
That is Gaelic and can be translated with: will-o’-the-wisp, glow and phosphorus (don’t think just of the element, the Greek word means “light bearing”).
10/10 very creative and fitting of a Sylvari.
I have 4 Sylvari and used the google translator from English to Welsh to come up with compound word names for each character.
Noddoeth- sapwise (ranger)
Dugwynt- blackwind (thief)
Gwyrddrew- greenoak (warrior)
Drychsyllu- mirrorgaze (mesmer)
(edited by Vespertilionidae.5018)
^ 9/10. The meanings are very appropriate for the classes and I really like the name Noddoeth. Lost a point because 3/4 of the names themselves have a few too many consonants together in a string for my tastes and I had to stop and stare to read them right.
8/10 Really awesome thought put into the name too o:
Giloy is my Ranger Sylvari :D Named after the common slang for Guduchi herbs c:
No one rated this one, so I will. 7/10. Grats on finding a single word name. :) Sounds more anglo-saxon than gaelic, but still. And, once I looked up what Guduchi was, I found out its prominent in forests, which is appropriate for a ranger. And I see that the coloring on your ranger’s hair matches the fruit of that plant, which is a nice touch. :)
My contribution: Fegann the Dawnborn
Fegann is the gaelic word for henbane, a poisonous yellow and purple flower known for its “psychoactive properties”, including visual hallucinations.(Source) She’s a mesmer. I thought it was appropriate. :3
Fegann also translates to “dangerous one”. Also appropriate.
“The Dawnborn” b/c she’s of the Cycle of Dawn. (Also, the game wouldn’t let me have the name otherwise. I think an NPC took it already. :/)
(edited by Alleluia.1320)
8/10
It’s cleaver and retains some elegance but adding “the” in the beginning sounds like “i’m the great one and will smash your head”
I choose Atrios Wynn.
(Pronounced A-Tree-Ohs Win )
Because of trees of course.
Rhianyn(female), mesmer of Order of Whispers & Calvaer(male), guardian of The Vigil
Rhianyn, a really nice Welsh version of Rhiannon. Lovely, and lore-worthy to boot! 9/10!
Love the -vaer part, very celtic. I’m a bit iffy on the Cal part (seems a little out of place), but that’s just me being overly picky. So feel free to ignore my 8/10! Goes perfectly with the guardian class though, sounds very strong and chivalrous.
This is my necromancer, Ceinwyr. She reckons death gets a bad press; it’s as much a part of life as life itself! She loves to explore, so she’s keen to join the Durmand Priory and get in some tombs and whatnot. This is her on a field trip to the Plains of Ashford; having a great time!
(edited by primavista.4986)
8.5/10 for Ceinwyr. I like it because it sounds like a Sylvari name, you gave her first name only and it’s not overly complicated.
I named my ranger Timberya, she is autumn/tree themed and it was the first name that came up in my mind when I created her.
7/10 Timberya, I like it, although I cannot help but think about “Timber” whenever I hear it xD
Malizia the Fallen
Sylvari Necromancer,
8/10, I like the title after the name. Also I like the way the name sounds.
Kiernna Nivera, Sylvari Elementalist.
Tempted Fighting Tigers [TFT]
7.5/10, sounds pretty cool when you say it out aloud.
Mine’s Assonymous, Sylvari thief (assassin + anonymous)
Yeah… I get what you are going for but you’re probably going to get in to trouble for that name one day, as assassin/anonymous isn’t what it first comes across as. :P
I have a sylvari mesmer named Weepingllow
And a sylvari warrior named The Unbagable Mulch
Weepingllow — 7/10
Mulch — 7.5/10. Its a pretty funny name lol
I have a sylvari Warrior named Authir
Authir- 8/10 (noble sounding)
Bigbranch Indapants
Authir- 8/10 (noble sounding)
Bigbranch Indapants
Bigbranch Indapants – 6/10 Made me chuckle though.
Mine is a female ranger named Cazadora Paz, loosely translating to “Peace Huntress” from Spanish. Note the ‘z’ sounds more like ‘s’.

Not bad, my first thought was Asura name, but when explained the Z’s are more like S’s I liked the sounds better
8/10
Mine is Kiirdan.
I’ve been pronouncing it Kai-eer-dan, but sometimes keerdan
8/10
I like kai for short.
My male elementalist is named Idrassil.
9/10 very nice! very syvlari like!
mine is called Chaeia (pronounced chay-ee-ya)
7/10 Its pretty but without you telling me how to pronounce it I’d stumble over it.
I have 3 sylvari:
Andelyon – elementalist: Its based on dandelion and its sort of an endearment my husband uses for me.
Niphanae – necromancer: I love bats. Niphanae is a type of fruit bat
Kerivoula- thief: Kerivoula is the genus of a vesper bat
Andelyon: + for sounding like Dandelion + for the flow of the name – for not having that rough sillable most sylvari names have 8/10 Total
NIphanae: + for somehow giving me the picture of water lilies + for sounding shady at the same time 10/10 Total
Kerivoula: – for being a thiefs name.. I just despise them.. + vor sounding like some spiky but delicious kind of fruit + for its meaning …. imo would have been more sylvarish if it started with a “C” 9/10 Total
My Sylvari Mesmer is called “Mironar” which should sound mesmerish in the first half and treeish in the second half. I think about changing it to “Meavon”
8/10 sounds really believable so I like.
My three are:
Riaghan, Mesmer
Calainn, Thief
Govrann, Guardian

Riaghan – 7/10
Calainn – 9/10 – I really like this one
Govrann – 7/10
My thief is called Acidica
My ranger is called Archicus
My elementalist is called Pheodus
(edited by CrossFire.8037)
I like your names, especially since you stuck to finding one-worded names (and appropriately so since Sylvari do not have surnames according to their lore, being all part of the same family and all). Your names also flow nicely off the tongue, which is phonetically/phonologically a plus for the poetic nature of Sylvari names. However your etymological roots seem to be very Greek/Latin-based when their names tend to lean more toward the Gaelic end.
Acidica – 8/10 – Nice association with venom
Archicus – 8/10 – Neat association with “arch”, which relates back to Latin arcus, “bow”
Pheodus – 7/10 I could guess root association here, but it’s not clear if you intended to put one here or not. Basing off of how it sounds though, it flows nicely, but I just don’t like it as much as the first two
I would rate your names 10 if they were more Celtic-sounding for the perfect Sylvari names. Nice job on naming! n_n
^put as spoiler ’cause of how long the response was to CrossFire
blahblahblah my own female Sylvari warrior’s name:
Aerriwyn
aer = ??? = air, mist, blue/grey (as in sky-colored)
-ri- = filler morpheme
wyn = white
She is fair of skin, with hues of blue and grey/white armor color scheme.
Issue I have with my name is that it doesn’t sound fierce like a warrior T.T
(edited by ZerythPhoenix.4239)
Oh it can’t read Greek letters…the “???” was just the Greek root that the Gaelic morpheme borrowed from
(edited by ZerythPhoenix.4239)
Hey Zeryth, thanks for your reply.
Aerriwyn – 9.5/10 – I really like it. It’s simple and effective.
I started my new character today, a mesmer named Blaeyn. (Blaine)

I give u 9/10 really like your name, and really goes with some of the sylvari names around, like Caithe, it’s a really simple name, but at some point sounds and looks as unique as it is!
(I’ll just ask how did u come up with that name, and why did u pick it above any others?? probably u should answer as pm or edit ur post with this info [if u want to do it ofc], not to mess this thread logic)
My character name’s Leafëa [spell: Leaf – ee – ah]
How/Why: at first i thought i should pick some name like the one i rated, something simple but that looked like an “actual” name, but than i started thinking of the race i was rolling, and as a Sylvari i wanted something i could identify my character with. As i wanted her to have a more leafy look than flowerish, i decided to go for a name that sounded like “leaf” but had some kind of elven sound around it…Than i pickd the well known “…iel” finishing formula from elven names and added to the word Leaf, but Leafiel sounded weird, so i decided to change it a bit and went for the “ëa”
That’s how i came up with it :P
(honestly i thought at some point that having the word Leaf on my name would make it to obvious to what i was refering as i was rolling a Sylvari, but it was kinda funny that throughout my months of playing ppl rarely get to call me Leaf or notice the word’s even there, otherwise ppl worry about spelling the whole word right, and tend to call me Lea xD, so ya, i’m rather satisfied on how obvious the name’s for me, but not for everyone )
8/10 Like how you went and looked for conjugation of other fantasy names.
My sylvari is named Kaie Moonshadow, a guardian of the Cycle of Night. Lots of blue and white coloring went into her appearance, since i like to refer to as “moonborn”.
7/10 Its nice, nothing special. And I prefer one name only for Sylvari.
Corcralus, Female Sylvari Necromancer.
Picked because Corcra is Gaelic for Purple and Lus is plant. I hoped it sounded necromancer-ish!
Aueurin is an engineer, i think it’s gaelic for noble
^~7/10 I guess anything sounding elvish would be chill I misread ‘gaelic’ in both the comments above as garlic twice over and was totally mystified as to what garlic had to do with names and stuff…nvm xD My sylv ranger’s Ryuuken Xky
just because a baby can’t chew it’- Censored.
^ Ryuuken Xky, I like that one, 8/10, because it sounds Japanese and I like Japanese names :P
Mine was more of a joke because I couldn’t think of any cool names but my Sylvari Thief is named Herb Feverbush
7/10 ^^^
I have 2 Johny Cashtree and Justin Timberleaf.
7/10 ^^^
I have 2 Johny Cashtree and Justin Timberleaf.
9/10 just cause of the lol factor. My sylvari is named, Bugs The Rabbit, he’s a thief
7/10 for oddness of a name Bugs lol.
Mine is Greyalis, sort of a wintery tree sorceror…
