Supreme Extreme
3/10, no offense, but it’s pretty stupid.
Sibrydion
9/10, I like it.
I’ve got 6 sylvari…
Saffron Celandine, female, ranger — This one is definitely not my best work, but she was my very first character made on Day One and I knew very little about Sylvari xD
Cillean, male, thief
Morcaunt, male, necromancer
Kaydwel, female, guardian
Breuce, male, warrior
Lullav, female, mesmer
Saffron Celandine — The name itself is alright, but I don’t like names that are obvious, like two things to do with plants, saffron and celandine. 5/10
Cillean — I like it! Short, but still has personality. Is clean, and fits well with the Sylvari race, I think. 8/10
Morcaunt — Fits well with the Necromancer role, but not so much the Sylvari race, imo. Is also awkward to pronounce (unless I’m saying it wrong). 6/10
Kaydwel — Definitely seems like a name I’d see on an NPC, meaning it fits well. However, it seems to lack a lot of personality. 6/10
Breuce — Honestly, I don’t like this one. It is an annoying variation of an actual — and fairly common — name, both in spelling and pronunciation. It doesn’t fit with the race, either. 3/10
Lullav — Sorry, but not a fan of this one, either. It’s a word that is too easy to mumble, and becomes something along the lines of “Llav”, instead of “Lullav” when spoken aloud. At least with Breuce, you can tell the character’s name. I feel like if you were to tell someone your character’s name was Lullav, they’d have to ask you to repeat it multiple times before they could really understand what you were saying. 2/10
My Sylvari’s name is Zukari Morik.
At below: He’s an Ele.
(edited by Ronik.5249)
8/10 for Zukari Morik, it rolls off the tongue, and sounds like a great name for a hunter, What class is your Sylvari?
My Sylvari is a mesmer named Crann Geal, means: bright tree in celtic/irish if i remember correctly. Which is fitting since he is yellow ,glows in the dark, and is very smart.
@above me: eles can be hunters too lol they just dont need bows 10/10 for replying!
(edited by SnoringPiglet.2768)
Crann Geal, sounds interesting, and i love that you look up names 9/10
Verdandi Henbane – Mesmer… i’ll leave the mystery to the next person

Verdandi Henbane – Mesmer… i’ll leave the mystery to the next person
It sounds unusual I have to say…I would give it a 7/10, but it would probably be better after you solved the mystery
My latest Sylvari Warrior is called “Berric Dandelion”, and similarly to the last post, mine has a mystery or a reference. (C’mon Game of Thrones people!)
Stealing names from books not fun, 0/10
My necromancer is Lord Deathbloom, when he comes everything is fade (Ftw Nightmare court)
2/10 for putting the title ‘lord’ on a plant, because the one word name Deathbloom was taken.
Warrior – Leafal Weapon
Ranger – Alieria Whisperwind
Engineer – The Pollen Shooter (yeah, I don’t play him, mostly due to the bad name)
I tried to do a plant based name for the engi, but I couldn’t settle on one, so I rush created him for birthday gift purposes. Will have to rename him eventually.
I love a good pun, anyone got any other plant based ones?
(edited by Have No Faith In Me.1840)
lol leafal Weapon it’s a nice pun there. 7/10, 8/10 and ofc 3/10
Thief: Talon Nighthawk
Thought nature and such and well a thief like a bird very hard to catch and has some very nasty talons if you get my drift.
Wasn’t there a Tengu named Talon in GW1? I believe there were! And Nighthawk… Maybe you should have kept that name for if/when Tengu will be a playable race! :p But if I were to judge it for a Tengu name, I’d certainly go for a 7.5-8/10!
I have 3 Sylvari, and I went for things that felt very Sylvari-like in my opinion:
Female Sylvari Ranger: Aineyn (P.S. It’s also my Main Character)
Female Sylvari Necromancer: Padheen
Male Sylvari Warrior: Luskybe

Female Sylvari Ranger: Aineyn (P.S. It’s also my Main Character)
Female Sylvari Necromancer: Padheen
Male Sylvari Warrior: Luskybe
Aineyne : 10/10 Pretty graceful/elven/sylvari name, not sure how to pronounce unless it’s (Eye-Nayn) which rolls off the tongue.
Padheen : 8/10 I only like it because the dheen part sounds very celtic/hibernia ish to me which is fitting.
Luskybe : 7/10 Unique name, doesn’t make me think Sylvari though, the skybe part reminds me of mushrooms though so win for you.
My char : Sylvari Mesmer (with very skinny body and a faceless mushroom head and a mask) Sathr Mycen.
Sathr is old norse for Sadness, I generally always use names that are norse-ish cause I love them, and it definately feels like a good first name. Although Sylvari aren’t very norse the whole Yggdrasil “Tree of Life” thing is fitting.
Mycen has to do with mushrooms (Mycelium), and make the name flow pretty well. I was going to go for a name with Psilocybin intregrated but it’s just too obvious and generic.
In the end my name means “Sad Mushroom”. =p
Clever- I guess you have the sad mask for your mesmer?
7.5 but only because I don’t really feel the connection to the mesmer class
I have a Sylvari mesmer too I just made her and she is a baby.
She was born in the Cycle of Night and she saw the shield of the moon in her dream.
her name is Moonmirror Magic
I tried to go with a silvery reflective look for her
7/10 Has a mystical quality to it but not very Sylvari-y in my opinion. I love her appearance though!
Galen of The Dusk – Sylvari Engineer of the Dusk Cycle. I dont like one name names so I had this but broke the rule lol with my second sylvari…
Rahnuil – Sylvari Ranger always followed by his loyal Fern Wolf, Thornbark
Proud player of Crusader, Arcanist,
Beastmaster, Shadowraider, and Shieldbearer Zakk!
Galen of the Dusk gets a 8.5/10! although it’s really simple it’s just kind of perfect.
Rahnuil, I give it a 7/10…and I really like that name, but something in the end ties my tongue the “uil” sound I think. But still, original, and very much like the kind of names I create.
Mine is Naeova, spoken like it reads ( Nah-ei-oh-va), derived from Lemurian; Neevora meaning ‘seed of life’
9/10, I like the sound of it when spoken, good name.
Iberiss (Warrior)
Athnotan and Alith Ealodel (first is ele, second necro, siblings)
Ohirrim (Guardian)
Tároch (Warrior)
Àví (Engineer)
Aeràn (Ele)
Tynwen (Ranger)
Íllis (Mesmer)
Càllan (Thief)
9/10, I like that you went with the “lore-based names” on all of them, I especially like Tynwen, 10/10 for that one, it just seems to fit so well with a Ranger, in my mind.
Pluirin (Mesmer)
I like it, 9/10.
Terigwen >> Elementalist of the Priory
@Terigwen
Seems authentic enough. I like it – 10/10.
I rolled a new Sylvari for the first time today, a guardian named, ‘Caelyb’.
@InfindelYankee
6/10- It has the Gaelic feel that most Sylvari have, but it sounds so much like Caleb, which is bland and misplaced for the race :<
I have two Sylvari- Cuineal Muir ,my main whose an elementalist, and Dris Dreas, my warrior. I know they’re kinda boring, but I went with things I liked xD
Dris Dreas – 8/10 I like the way it rolls off the tongue!
Cuineal Muir – Very interesting, but doesn’t sound too sylvari-ish. 7/10
Mine is Tindorin. He’s a warrior dressed to look like a ranger wielding kudzu. (I hate Ranger longbow, but love warrior longbow.)
7.5/10 if I can do halves, 8/10 if not. I tend to think of Sylvari names as being Celtic/Welsh/Gaelic or else Arthurian and Tindorin feels more Elvish to me. Bonus for being a one word name, though, and I could be wrong about the antecedents of the name.
I currently have two Sylvari:
Briara – guardian, female, dark pointy wood face with a swept back poof of white leaves that glow gold. Wears a base of Primeval armor in shades of gold with thorny/pointy accessories. Has cultural for when she’s deep in her Hunt. RP’d that all her armor is “grown” but she’s admired human looks enough to use some of their aesthetic. Made her day one, using a name I had back in DaoC, for the variation on briar. Violates my own rule of Arthurian/Celtic other than vaguely sounding like it might fit that.
Ysethe – necromancer, female. Lichen green rounded face with a cheeky forward sweep of lacy leaves over her forehead, tipped in turquoise. Bright blue glow. Wears T2 (made her just so I could wear that woods-fairy looking stuff). Name derived from Arthurian forms without being taken directly therefrom.
8/10 nice names
Mines Sylvari engineer named Kemicals has the appearance of a branded sylvari or closest i could get
8/10 I think it’s funny to gear (ha) the name to the profession! Lost a point because I like longer names :P
One of my Sylvari names is Inna Gadda Davida (old Iron Butterfly song, supposed to be In the Garden of Eden, for those youngin’s who haven’t heard the song)
5/10. Sorry but the name doesn’t relate to Sylvari lore, nor does it look like a Sylvari name. Plus its a name of a song.
My Sylvari warrior name is Rhains. Rhain meaning ‘lance, spear’
My elementalist is called Wynston
(edited by CrossFire.8037)
I like Rhains, it fits the class, it’s easy to pronounce, 7.5/10
Wynston doesn’t seem very Sylvari, 3/10.
My ranger is named Kiwavi Chakula, which translates roughly to “Caterpillar Food”.
8/10 The translation made me laugh, but the last name doesn’t sound very Sylvari. It reminded me of “dracula”. It does sound very “tribal” though, if that’s the right word for it, so I think it’s a good name.
I don’t really pick names based on class, and I tend to use Latin for translations.
My 80 engineer is named Helianthus Py. Helianthus means Sunflower and py is just py, so it sort of translates to Sunflower Pie.
pic here and PVP armor here
My 33 mesmer is named Mellilla Nox, which tranlates to Dark Honey(in reverse). I knew I wanted her personality to be sweet, but I wanted a dark colored sylvari since my first one was practically white. Also I really wanted to give her really big, black doe eyes.
pic here
(edited by Helianthus.5296)
lorewise sylvari have only one name. i like the rest and so you suffer a -2 for the second name
6/10, sry.
my sylvari warrior name is Lhasien
Kodash
Stomp some Piken!
Funky name and I can imagine that fitting in quite well.
My sylvari male elementalist is called Tolí
Oh forgot to rate 8/10
5/10 – Imo it sounds more like an Asura name to me.
My Sylvari’s name is Síonnan. She’s a necromancer.
6/10 – I’m sure it sounds better for most people than me. It does have a nice sound to it, but there’s something off with me, sorry.
Mine is also Necromancer, Xnvy, not really sylvari-ish name though.
It’s funky, unusual but not very sylvari and I have no idea how to pronounce it so knocked down a bit 6/10
My female necromancer is named: Coira it fits in with the naming conventions of the sylvari, one word, Celtic background and means “seething pool” which kinda fits in with the whole necromancer thing!
I like it, 8/10, primarily because I think it fits and it’s not some gimmick.
Vaerinor
It doesn’t exactly fit, but I got tired of trying to think something up so that’s what I ended up with.
9/10. Nice flow to that name, and i like V’s in names a lot.
Adrigal
Tall Sylvari Guardian with white skin/hair and blue eyes.
8/10
I like the name, it’s unique and easy to read/pronounce, but it doesn’t scream sylvari to me.
Kaelan
8/10
Sounds unique and easy to pronounce, nice and simple ^^.
Mines a Sylvari ranger, Rhosyn the Thorn
8/10, a bump for getting the song “Rosin the Bow” stuck in my head. It’s a title a sylvari might well have. Any minus comes from using more than one word, which is hard to avoid as names get taken.
I am now leveling a male sylvari warrior, and because he’s a side project I didn’t research a name beyond spamming an Arthurian name generator until I found a name I liked that wasn’t taken (I really liked Cador, but apparently so did someone before me) :
Andret
7/10 I like it, like a funky corruption of Andrew.
Well I have a sylvari ranger but I’m not happy with his name, I’m saving up for a rename kit for him but let me know what you think, it’s Tyrace.
7/10 i like it My syvaris Warrior is named Nighflox Nightshade My guilds call me Nigh lolz
Like the idea but it’s kind of wordy 7/10
I have two sylvari, both portmanteaus of my two favorite trees from the two places where I grew up, Cali and Alaska. I like that the second wound up sounding like a real Irish name even though it’s completely made up.
Weepingllow and Cwottodn
7/10. I like the effort but I find them difficult to read.
Named my Sylvari after my son and a tree — I was going to make him look like a fall Birch tree, but then he just looked like a pale blond kid. Ended up being a birch tree with blue-leaf-hair. The single name thing was way too hard, everythings taken!
Quinton Birch
I like it 9/10 (I just can’t seem to give people 10s on just about anything so…). I don’t really know why, but Quinton Birch seems to just work well.
Maharet Masika (means daughter of the earth, born in the rain) is my Mesmer’s name
I know they’re only supposed to have one name, but… I couldn’t get Maharet by itself and I find the name meanings nicely fit in with Sylvari. After all, if Masika just means she was born in the rain, it’s almost a title or just a time indication.
Fría Nox is a name I gave to my Sylvari Engineer carried over from GW1. Fría (feminine spanish, meaning cold) Nox (latin for night). I made her cycle of dawn though :/ Maybe early dawn? :P
7/10 Has kind of a lord of the rings tone to it!
Eleshazar Rashaman (El – ay – sha – zar Rah – sha – mon)
(Guardian)
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
10/10 sounds very unique almost like it belongs in the game.
Mine is named Signest, a necromancer.
10/10 very cool sounding name Xale mine is Jalosei, also a necromancer. the name came across to me from a dream awhile back
8/10 for the dream name.
Hemlock Rose – Thief
Mace Ironwood – Guard
hehe… Ironwood… hehe 9/10
Rosham Beaux the necro flower child
Rosham (variant of Roshan, Arabic for brilliant light) Beaux (French for beautiful)
7/10
I tend to go for movie reference names, in this case, Harry potter.
Male warrior – The Whomping Willow
