While rewatching the pax stream on tequatl again (yes i’ve watched it a few times), i noticed something peculiar that they don’t actually seem to intend to show.
And since i haven’t seen anyone else on the forum spot this – i figured you guys might like a picture of the upcoming (Teq only) asc greatsword, enjoy
Seems that all the variants of weapons will have the same effect, since she shows the logos of her weps in the hero menu, and both her gs and staff had the same black and green colours. But she never drew her staff out so i cant say for certain ;P
am I the only one that noticed the Commander Tybalt Leftpaw in the background?
Nope, noticed that first before the sword. Looks like after death, tybalt found 100g to buy the tag. It prob went like this:

Don’t like it. Just another 100500th same model with new effect. I would like them to do something like a GS-large vertebra with… donno… rotting flesh hanging out it. That would be awesome. And this model already seems banal. sad =(
I see someone in the middle of a zerg with a glowy blue GS and i’m not immediately sure if its a SAB greatsword, Corrupt Avenger, Jotun greatsword, Foefire, AC greatsword or it’s cheap knock off, Cobalt.
keep in mind that they where prolly playing on one of the testservers. These skins might not come with the tequatl patch, very often on testservers, content for the next 4-5 releases get mixed up.

Can’t please everyone. Some will like it and others will hate it. They have a new weapon skin type with ascended weapons (some I like, some I do not), so we can expect a few re-skins I think.
My necro is gonna enjoy the Staff version. Hooray for creativity!

Im pretty sure that greatsword is the Ascended weapon that has already been released.
It has the exact same model, but the only difference is the cloud on it. The cloud could just be a poison cloud and we are seeing it at an odd angle or something to that effect.
If that is actually the new GS, then Anet did a really poor job and just added a black cloud on top of an existing skin.

Isn’t that exactly what they did to Cobalt,….and actually alot of other weapons in the game already? A New weapon skin is a new weapon skin I guess.
You do know that cobalt is just a recolored ebonblade with some extra particle effects, right?…
In any case, it’d be a recolored ascended sword with extra particle effects..

So are we now assuming these things will be trade able instead of account bound like all other ascended drops?
Also do we know how they drop? It is a Tequatl box which lets us choose a skin with a fixed prefix or is it a weapon which lets us pick the stats? The first seems more logical.
I will look forward to seeing it go from 600g down to 59 in a few weeks
Keep in mind that the ascended gear we have seen so far all have been introduced to give the players insentive to play the content themselves, by making it all account bound. I am assuming anet sticks to this procedure with tequatl too.
On the other hand though, they also gave us the option to sell and buy ascended gear on the trade post, yet nothing is tradeable yet. This might be the introduction on that :P

To be fair, ascended weapons have the whole concept of different looks for different stats going for them.
If the ascended Tequatl weapons indeed have a new stat combo (preferably giver) then the new look is completely justified.
Dropped ascended allow you to select the stats combo when you get them, I’m guessing this one will allow you to do that as well.
And personally if that’s the case, I’d be against it… getting an ascended weapon as a drop is hard enough to also give a high chance that the one you get is useless for your current build.

I’m fairly certain they drop as prefix-boxes which allow you to pick any weapon type of that prefix stats.
