Queensdale champ farm. You’ll get 2-3 per cycle.
That still doesn’t change the fact that it’s a stupid, contrived, gimmicky achievement. When a farm train is the only reliable way to do it, something is wrong.
I think the worst part of it for me were the griefers.

Yeah, someone did it in Kessex Hills on both Toxic Krait champs despite map chat telling them it wasn’t buffed and wouldn’t count and that people were on that map specifically to camp those two champs for LS achieves. Response was pretty much “lol don’t care, got achieve already – go farm QD and maybe you’ll get your achieve”.

The worst is all this could be avoided if you didnt have to wait 2m hoping that someone wont decide to kill the mob while you are trying to see if it gets infected or not -_-

This should never ever be used to justify spoiling the fun of others. There are plenty of champs to farm so courteous people would move to other spots if they are not interested in achievements.
People expect developers to take responsibility but are not willing to take any themselves. Then again this is nothing new. I see it in politics every day.

Isn’t there just a LITTLE bit of a contradiction in there? Maybe an oxymoron or two? At the very least somewhat hypocritical.
Now, across hours of playtime and 2 days, i’ve only gotten lucky enough with your RNG to kill 4 infected enemies… the achievement asks for 25 over 2 weeks, ok… BUT WTF is with this daily?! Asking for 10 kills against some of the kittentiest RNG in the game, not only is it grindy but its random.
Really this is one of the worst patches you guys came out with, the only decent thing is the art.
- Events scale poorly compared to how the scarlet ones did.
- Poorly measured achievements, 10 for a daily when you expect ppl to do 25 in 2 weeks…
- Adding this crap in WvW and annoying the WvW players with it. LS != WvW
- making the new skill cost 5g + 250 spores … champ farm for 15 min and you get the necessary scrolls to unlock the skill with 25 SP (which your main characters should already have stocked up)
- Untested skill balance making its way into WvW bcz it was added to PvE (after the promise of not changing ANYTHING to WvW for the duration of leagues) … note that the skill has not made it into spvp… nor have those crazy huge spores…
- 3 min story + hours of useless grind for AP with no real content to back it up.As much as i like the game because of GW1 and original content before LS, you are really killing the game at this rate…

How is one person anymore right than the other? There are indeed plenty of champs to farm and those same champs can also have the buff so why YOU get to decide who should step aside? The same arguments can be used for either side.

Matter of luck. You could find that the first 3 champ/vet you encounter upon logging in … or not. For this specific thing zerging can be counterprocductive in two ways. First the buff does not always appear immediately and with a zerg the champ might be killed before the buff shows up. Second problem is just the usual issue with tagging mobs when a lot of people are around. I guess there is also a possible third where the more people are around the higher the chance that there is someone who is just impatient/apathetic and starts killing the champ before the buff shows up as mentioned but some of the other posts above.

Not really. When you go out of your way to be a kitten, the blame falls on you. Normally I’d be in the “they’re just playing the game” camp because that’s how I feel about the champ trains but this is a wee bit different since it’s a LS event. It’s different when you’re not aware what’s going on or why people are camping those two specific champs but once you know and you decide to be a complete kitten about it and purposely tick off a group of people? That’s your fault. You don’t have to be a jerk, you actively choose to be. You are actively choosing to grief a group of people’s attempt to finish an achieve in a zone where it should be expected that everyone is there for achieves; as proven by the response to people very civilly telling those people to stop because the champ wasn’t buffed.
Heck, I’ve finished my achieves and I’m not going to go back to Kessex Hills to kill those champs. If I want champs – QD has more karma and FGS has better loot!

I think I’m missing something. Where is this 10 coming from? I got todays Tower Daily after killing 3 champions, and without moving. I just waited at the waypoint south of Marjory for the champion event to spawn three times. It took about an hour total.

Yeah, the infected achievements are pretty easy.
The krait champions that spawn and block the waypoints in Kessex Hills always count for the achievement. Just kill them + the one that spawns in the ruins.
I think I’m missing something. Where is this 10 coming from? I got todays Tower Daily after killing 3 champions, and without moving. I just waited at the waypoint south of Marjory for the champion event to spawn three times. It took about an hour total.
The daily only needs three, but the meta achieve needs quite a few more. I got the daily done by roaming Queensdale with the (well, with a) zerg. Unfortunately there were three different groups going around yesterday so it was hard to reliably find a living champ to attack, let alone an infected one. Hurrah for a weekend and a lot more time to work on the 23/24 issue along with this achieve.
I tried the QD train and got only 1 infected. However, the 3 champs in Kessex worked every time.
In PvE, whenever the devs put players in a situation where they have conflicting goals, it’s their design mistake.

Seriously, I do this achievement quite easily outside of Kessex. Try doing Ogre-Wars solo (can be difficult) or with several friends/guildies/random people. The Vets that spawn might spawn with Toxic Corruption. If you have more people then you get more Vet guards at the end (I think you can get like 20 of them). I would think maybe 5-6 [or more] of them would have toxic corruption buff. I usually get the daily done just on the Vets before those…
Also, temple events that spawn Vets/Champs are the same. Literally ANY events that spawn vets or champs has a chance for them to spawn with the corruption which would count. Stop whining about having to find three (THREE!!!) mobs with it on them. Takes me 10 minutes to finish it…
I wish they’d stop making the daily required for the meta. It’s great if it counts towards it but wasn’t required (allowing people to skip achievements if they don’t like them), but the game already has too many time gates. It also sucks to reach the end of an event only to discover you didn’t do enough dailies and even with a whole day left you can’t catch up.
The infected achievement in general is pretty weak. As stated by others, players shouldn’t have competing goals. I also don’t enjoy champion trains. It was just tedious running around looking to simply tag a mob to get this done.
Wait, you only need to kill 3 for the daily. I didn’t even seek out corrupted mobs, I just ran across them randomly.

There is nothing hypocritical there.
Zerging doesn’t mean finishing more rapidly than intended, it means using so many people that each person’s contribution, individually, is unnecessary.
So this is a case of Princess Bride syndrome where the word doesn’t mean what you think it means.
And honestly I think the achievements for this are ridiculous. While this might have to do with my server being a dead server so everything that I have to do has to be done solely as there is no one to do them with. And the content needs to be constructed to be completeable by all players on all servers which means that is needs to be soloable. So either the events need to made to scale down when there is only one active player participating, or they need to make the meta and achievements giving nonachievement awards only the soloable achievements.

There is nothing hypocritical there.

But the achievement doesn’t have to be done in Kessex or even in the LS events. Any Vet or Champ in the world can have the buff. Try Hirathi — I’ve had good luck there and with the Ogre War dynamic event in Fields of Ruin. Heck, I ran out to kill the witch in Timberline, and on the way back out of the zone ran into a Veteran Crab that had the buff. I think it’s probably easier to get this achievement just playing in random out of the way places instead of with the zerg.

Move to Queensdale 2-4 corrupted bosses per cycle can do all 25 in less than 50min , afterwards move on from this boring and stupid meta.

Yeah, dailies are great if they’re available as an alternative or a supplement to the static meta-achievements. Makes things much more annoying when they’re a mandatory component.
But in general, the whole toxic corruption buff is a stupid idea. I have no idea what it adds to the game that simply killing a certain number of LW-related champs, buff or no buff, doesn’t do. Things were getting nasty again in Kessex Hills yesterday while I was trying to do the daily, with a lot of people not waiting for the buff.
Jeez, it’s enough to do a few lousy events with veterans in them to complete this. Check out the meaning of ‘achievement’.

I personally think that the whole idea with the offshoots and spores landing in other zones and randomly corrupting powerful beasts is a fun one.
