The Cutscene
fart jokes…..nuff said.
Timelord to Lillium Honeybuns, IoJ
Forever together, or not at all.
When Marjory said “norn fart” I couldn’t tell whether to laugh or facepalm. lol
I really enjoyed the cutscene tbh. It made me feel like I was playing GW1 again. I really hope Anet decides to bring back actual cutscenes like this instead of the artsy background with two people just speaking to each other. It works when its a personal kind of thing, but when something large or important is going on I feel it should be replaced with an outright cutscene.
That’s the way they should have been done from the start. Just like in GW1. Better late than never I guess. Good job on this one at least.
The whole instance was awesome. It’s one of the best implementations of story in a Living World patch we’ve seen.
- The gameplay was better than what we had in Flame and Frost instances. Mini events communicated what needed to be done, karma was a nice reward. The encounters weren’t tedious.
- The player character was the hero the entire time. I wasn’t following Kiel around, I was asked to help and I was the only one able to go on. When I arrived even the main NPCs thanked me for coming and recognised I am the hero of the game.
- Right off the bat I know what this whole new area is all about.
- We were introduced to the new factions, new characters, a new conflict and new mechanics – all in a short instance.
- The reward was decent. Event credit during the instance, bonus reward at the end.
- It can be done again on another character. One of my biggest issues with instances for Living World is that they haven’t been repeatable most of the time.
- The cut scene was probably the best thing we’ve seen in the Living World. I liked it better than Marjory’s original introduction because it was part of the world.
I really liked the cutscene too. The only thing that would’ve made it better is if my character would’ve said something.
And they can’t, cuz voice actors. They’d have to bring 10 people back to voice this stuff, and I can’t see them doing that for such a small ordeal.
This cutscene was AMAZING, and in this patch there are so many storytelling NPCs!!! I’m so impressed, ANet finally did something about their bad storytelling! <3 Big thanks!
I understand, but I hope they’ll do it for some of the future updates. I kind of feel like an outsider when the other characters talk and mine stays silent.
Their mouths didn’t even move. In some parts it was difficult to make out who was talking.
Nameless Inversion/Ascension/Evasion/Ruination/Impression/Perdition/Compassion/Tactician
Guild Wars 2 will be an amazing game when it’s finished. Compare Prophecies to EotN!
The lines made me crinch my teeths. No real person would ever talk like that. And the fart joke made me leave my room and ask the stars what the hell Anet is even doing.
And they can’t, cuz voice actors. They’d have to bring 10 people back to voice this stuff, and I can’t see them doing that for such a small ordeal.
This is correct. It’s the same reason why SWTOR recycled lines over and over and why fully voiced MMOs are kind of hard to create story content for. Voice acting isn’t cheap.
I find this realy funny because there were people on these forums and we were all mentioning how we’d love to see cinematic cutscenes and so on. And there is it. However, it’s of course not crazy complicated or graphically intense, and most of their dialogue isn’t even in the cutscene XD but it did give a nice mood, and the personalities and how they talk was kind of interesting. it has this funny edge to it, like two friends joking around about something serious. i liked that touch
There’s something about seeing people move and talk that gives them personality and depth. You don’t really know someone by the way you read their words. They’re probably a completely person based on their intonation and body movement.
