I went to all 24 obelisk locations in the world, interacted with them all, and finished the achievement…

Except I didn’t, because I somehow missed two. I don’t mean missed two as in didn’t go to them, I mean missed two as in probably clicked on them and didn’t finish due to interruption.

Ok fine, I’ll just go back and get those two… except there’s no way to track which ones I’ve finished, so now I have to go back to all 24 again and recheck every one.

Note to self: Make sure to triple-transcribe every obelisk so I don’t miss any of them.

EVERY SINGLE TIME we’ve had achievements like this (Scarlet invasions, Queen’s hot air ballons, etc.) we’ve complained about not being able to track the achievements — and here we are again!

You just have to bring out a pen and paper to track yourself and also make sure to check every time you’ve done the job that you actually have been credited for it.

I’m just waiting for this thread to turn into another Scarlet hate thread.

Does the achievement panel have a built-in hyperlink to Dulfy’s site? I’m just wondering because its used as a development crutch and replacement for any sort of in-game scavenger hunt type aspect or system of clues.

I remember people asking for clues to make finding the refugees’ lost items in Flame and Frost more fun. I guess that’s not ever going to happen.

You know what also sucks for this event? Underwater missile reflect that is extremely hard to see for classes that only have missile weapons.

Bleh, I don’t even feel like doing it anytime soon. Kind of tired of these go to this map and collect this and that node, requiring a Dulfy guide. Collected the ones in Kessex and then realized there’s more in other maps. -.- /sigh

I wouldn’t mind if the acheivement panel at least tell you which areas we HAVE gotten. Like Caledon Forest 1/2

you know she’s the one behind people not clicking on the obelisks correctly? and yesterday I spilt coffee on my shirt, she was behind that as well. kitten her to hell!

On this, a good trick that I used was to track the achievement and make sure that it incremented. I’m 21/24 (not yet done the other 3). On one of them, I noticed that I hadn’t gotten credit, so I retried immediately and it worked again. Also, it seems that you need to remain still for an extra second after the animation finishes or you may not get credit. Hope that helps.

Dulfy recently updated the guide, but before that the map only showed the other 3 shard locations, and I skipped this one. Idk if its your case, but..

Nope, I visited all 24 locations. I even double checked a few of them if I was recently in combat or attacked, just make sure I had completed it successfully.

Clearly I didn’t double check the two that didn’t count as used :P

I wouldn’t care much, but since the achievement doesn’t track the locations completed, nor do the map icons, there’s no way to determine what I’m missing except revisiting every location.

The issue could easily be avoided with an obscured achievement log that marked them off as you completed them, or map icons that marked as completed, or both. Even x/y complete in zone would be an improvement over ‘22/24’, which tells me nothing useful.

I know how you feel. I have the same problem too right now. I went to the shard and get it but Anet kick me out saying due to the internet connection. Pfft, yeah right. So I went back to it again and it already said I got it. Wtf? It didn’t count do the interruption…. Maybe they can do something about it… I dunno…

To avoid this very problem, I pulled up my achievements tab before zoning out of each map, to make sure I had received credit for each one. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I am also stuck at 23/24 of the locations and I have been to all 24 twice. Each one of them says that I have already been there already.

I thought the Krait Historian was fun – I like scavenger hunts. Boyfriend and myself tried to find as many as possible without any guides, and then went to the guides for the last 2 or 3.

I do strongly agree, however, that (as has been stated many times) the game should share its “checklist information” on the achievement’s mini-page. There’s no reason to have players keep their own lists outside of the game, other than to make it all needlessly difficult.

That aside, I know the achievement is bugged for some, and the whole issue of having to double or triple research the Krait shards due to being interrupted and then not knowing where to go is a sad one.

I would have suggested:

• Option 1:
  An in-game checklist on the achievement page that breaks it down into maps: “You found 3/4 shards in Sparkfly Fen”, etc. This way you would know which map to go to find the remaining one or the one that wasn’t “tagged” correctly.
• Option 2:
  After using a Krait shard correctly, place a shard icon on the map. Players can then compare these maps with friends’ / guides’.

I had the achievement stickied in the top right corner and checked that the number incremented after each shard.

Oh, I thought I’d done this too in Maelstrom, since there are four there and I only did three because the fourth was in a different guide image and that threw me. I’d thought I was one behind because I’d missed one someplace, but then I realized what had happened and got the one I’d missed.

Same problem – stuck at 23/24 the last one i swam up to and it said the message that its been done. Have double checked all on a diff char and a diff server but still 23/24

Same here – went to 24, wrote them down, made sure the animation finished….stuck at 23/24. Seems like a bug.

The issue is that the game ‘knows’ which ones you have done. It has to know otherwise you could click one <WhateverYouNeedToClickThisTime> 24 times and be done.

The game knows. The game intentionally hides this information from the player. This is bad.

Everytime something comes up, I am always told to make a list, check it twice etc… wtf… I’m not santa… The game knows… just let me see it…

sigh same thing with the short stories… want to have any clue whats going on in game. Go to this external site and read all about it… Nevermind that I am trying to PLAY a game. If I wanted short stories or the like I’d just buy the books and not bother logging in…

Yep, as soon as I saw the achievement list for this event I broke out the pen & paper. This time, there are 3 achievements to track!! Global, Obelisks, and Krait Witches. Admittedly, the witches are easy enough to remember without needed p&p but still.

They even list them in the expanded achievement panel…why not strike them out when they’re accomplished??

This is why I’m glad that the dailies count towards the Meta. I usually avoid these type of achievements unless I have a LOT of time on my hands

same issue, checked all locations 3 times by now, all say i checked them but i am still at 23/24

my guess is that maybe while i was hunting obelisks patch happend or because after getting 1st obelisk i talked to NPC

Yeah, very much this. I did at least the Event in 5 zones, but i simply ignore the Obelisk stuff, and will just try to finish the Meta via dailys

Or the dive master achievement.. which is especially fun when there’s hard dives like the one in the aether JP.

I’m having the exact same experience with this as with the diving goggles… somehow one got missed, and now everything needs to be done AGAIN. I just did and it’s still 23/24. Nevermind…….. I’ll do another daily instead

same problem shards stuck 23/24 revisted all the maps all the locations at least 2 times, all of them said ive already collected the shard please help anet

Its not a bug, there are 24, I did it all in one go without backtracking

I’m willing to bet people are rushing when re-checking and not reading the text or skipping the shard completely.

I didn’t mind doing this obelisk shard “search” but it wasn’t particularly fun. IF there are clues I had to decipher as to the whereabouts of each shard, THAT would be fun. As it stands atm, I just referenced Dulfy’s site and cleared for the achievement. The quest will be lost to memory.

Yeah she updated it now it seems before the POI wasn’t circled. This is a common one that people missed. If its not the one you need, then its something else.

No one likes these find X at Y achievements, they’re nothing but filler and a waste of time. All 24 points had the same mobs, 1 vet + 1 normal that spam conditions. It could of been 5 to 50 and it would be as equally tedious. They didn’t need to do 24 honestly.

Yeah, I would have had a far better time finding 5 of them, but having to do 5 very different obstacles to get them (like a JP for one or hide and seek game, iono). Would even have been better if I’d needed to take down 5 unique champions to do it.

She had pictures on each one up last night. She just didn’t have the one circled on the map showing all of them like you said.

He’ll cast a green shield that reflects projectiles, even if you’re inside with.

If it helps, I can include the 4th one in the map for 1-3 as well but I divided it up initially since the 4th location was discovered later and closer to another waypoint

I found every single one of them last night at 9pm pst (before any more recent edits) using Dulfy’s detailed descriptions. No problems and no worries.

Okay I have adjusted it now so all 4 locations are marked in 1 pic. Hopefully that will solve some issues

I am in the same boat as Evilgamer but I have been to every location twice and all off them say I can’t commune with them so i am stuck on 22/24. This is clearly a bug for some

As a tip, you can add this achievement to your tracker. I made sure the total count went up by 2 or 4 after I completed each zone. I think this will help you figure out as you are doing them which one you might have missed (or is broken if that turns out to be the case).

This doesn’t really excuse the poor system, but I find that it is a helpful workaround.
