I’m gathering this is a public forum, or is it only for the invited beta testers? If so, I didn’t receive the download link.
Thanks
Where is download link?
Here is the link for you: http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2
Hi,
To answer Nevaahe’s questions: The test is not public. See this blog post for information.
The forum is a public forum and forum members are welcome to post here, whether they are members of the test or not.

Awful experience. Unable to play. Awful rubberbanding effect for me which made this test unplayable and I’m extremely disappointed.
My connection speed was 100mbps running the game on an Alienware super computer.
My Ping using “best performance” setting fluctuated wildly from 40-168.
My fps was even worse and constantly flipped from 2 fps to 47 fps non-stop like a slot machine dial.
Worst experience ever. I’m devastated I’m missing this first look at wvw!

So it’s exactly like EBG in T1/2 on reset night?
Good to know there’s consistency, at least.

Wouldn’t mind that but several others in my guild played without lag and had a ball.

If you really want to stress test this map, let everyone have at it for a 24 hour period on the live servers.
The sad truth is that the current game cannot handle large fights well enough to be playable. If you have made some optimizations to improve that, then you need to give it a REAL stress test.
Did anyone of actual importance get into the beta? I haven’t heard of anyone who plays WvW regularly on NA servers that got in.. All i’ve seen is PvE main content creators and their opinion is invalid when talking about a WvW situation.
EU opinions don’t validate anything as when I was on an EU server the game was played very differently than it is on NA.

Yes, lots of Guild Leaders of WvW guilds and commanders got into the beta, thanks to Reya. I don’t know who the other streamers got in but I presume that they do play WvW.
Yeah EU is different from NA, but that does not mean that EU players’ opinions should be cast aside. They will be playing on this map once it comes out, just like NA.
Totally unplayable for me – AGAIN. Tremedous rubber-banding and lag with fps and ping sill running like a slot machine dial. Tried it again off-peak. Hardly anyone on the maps. Same thing. Same lag.
This is on Alienware i7 with 8 gigs of ram and a 100 mbps FIOS connection.
Complete and total disappointment.

All this map needs is a world boss event and it will be the perfect location to farm for my new legendary backpack! Oh wait, this is a WvW map?
Pretty awful experience overall
1. Downloading the client took forever, not to mention I had to do it twice. The first time the download was capped at 4 kbs for some reason
2. Once opened the maps were instantly queued and I had to wait an hour before I could even start playing
3. The game was horribly laggy. With all lowest possible graphic settings my fps was crap. I disconnected 3 times in 3 hours.
Now lets move on to the map
1. its too big. It takes forever to travel across the map. Even once we memorize all of the paths throughout the map its still at least as big as EBG if not larger. How will outnumbered defenders have any chance of protecting their land?
2. Too many npcs and random pve crap. The map is filled with choke points and drops to your death. I can’t wait to siege hump these areas (sarcasm). any places which are open and relatively flat are filled with npc rally bots and random debris.
3. Buffs are not necessary. There are random shrines around the keeps and if you control them you can get a 5 minute 10% damage boost from them. This is really not necessary. You removed Guard stacks because you did not want 1 side being buffed unfairly. Now you add an even stronger buff?
3. We all know that GW movement mechanics don’t play nicely with vertical terrain. at least 75% of this map is either a incline or decline.
The positives:
1. The map is really pretty and impressive looking
2. I like hunting dinosaurs in the center
About 20 people from my WvW guild were able to play together. We are from a low tier server (Fergusons Crossing) and I guarantee you that we will struggle to fill 1 of these borderlands maps during primetime. Having 3 people defending against an enemy zerg of 10-15 people (yes we call that a zerg) in such large and impressive keeps will seem utterly ridiculous.
As a whole my guild did not really enjoy the experience or the new map.

That’s what this whole test is about. Not to see if this map has been perfected yet. But to prevent this stuff from happening to 100x the number of players when it actually goes live, so instead of complaining about being invited to a closed test, be glad you contributed to the performance improvement of this map. facepalm

As a slightly dissenting voice to the above comments:
I did not experience any lag, so I’d imagine that it was the result of player computers not the servers.
Downloading the client wasn’t an issue. I put it on overnight and it was no big deal.
Queues will not be an issue when the game is actually implemented. If you look at things now when the streams aren’t ongoing, there is no queue or maybe a small queue.
The rest of the complaints are entirely speculative. Some bits feel like they’re too easy to defend with a few arrow carts (but this would make the map easier to fight on if outnumbered), but we won’t really know until they’re implemented. The actual size of the map is probably not entirely different from EBG except for the fact that you actually have to make use of more of the map…

Please remember that not everyone has good internet. For me it took ages (was still running three hours ago, nearly playable) and the first client was buggy. So this was an issue for many people.
And if people tell their experience (with lags for example) we should be happy that they do and don’t stay quiet. I will test it after work.
