Anvil Rock is welcoming all types of guilds and players (even our former WvW community members!) to join our WvW community. Yes, we do have a stable WvW community, not just another low tier server rotting away after their exodus. We are a server on the rise, not a server on the fall.

Anvil Rock HAD an exodus, when our largest WvW guild transferred, followed by tens of other WvW-focused guilds. Times were tough when we dropped from a stable t5 to last place in a blink of an eye. But these are all in the past. We have new players, new guilds and even old experienced guilds that stayed in AR.

Current State of Anvil Rock
I’m not going to say AR is ready to tackle T1 right now or that sort of crap. I am here to give you all a honest reflection of our WvW state. We have been permanently liberated from T8, now a major contender for a stable t6 spot. We are not a server on the fall, but a server on the rise. We don’t always win, but we never stop aiming to win. We have all been very cooperative and like-minded, defending our borderlands when needed even if we have to jump from another map and using our public AR Teamspeak Server.

What we lack are numbers and manpowers, which are not quite ready to take on t5 just yet, but this does not mean we are overzerging PVD t6 and below, we still put up fierce competition.

What We Have!
We have many roaming guild groups whom excel at small group tactic and always enjoy fights. We have solo roamers who have awesome finishers. We have a zerg (not going to deny) that map hops around different borderlands to maximize our PPT. We have fight club lovers who love 1vs1 in the EB JP. We have people who stay around our towers/keeps in order to scout, upgrade and defend our stuff. We have a dedicated AR public Teamspeak server. We also have our daily Omega Rushes (numbers can vary from 5 to 50) :P

We have a strong SEA presence in AR, this is crucial and rare in GW2, winning coverage is winning WvW. We overpower all our opponents during this time. (I’m an oceanic/SEA player and PVD is really boring -_-, until we rise higher in rank). It’s not just numbers, but also organization (TS and guilds) in this time slot.

NOTE: WE ALSO HAVE A WVW COMMUNITY THAT DOES NOT GET AFFECTED BY PVE LIVING STORY UPDATES (Thanks to this new update we karma trained the opposing servers in WvW hours after hours). Balanced weekdays and weekends crew numbers too.

We have many guilds, old and new, big and small, supporting AR WvW. Just to name a few: WAR, WOAR, THG, Zero, TV, evil, TEO, TFH, MWWB, ASAP, KAOS and other guilds I forgot to mention, sorry (feel free to leave in comments). Some of these guilds are fight lovers, some are dedicated to our PPT, some are new and growing their player base. Some are old and experienced able to run tagless and take on zergs larger than them. There are NA crews and night crews.

There are so many things I haven’t mentioned, but I’m lazy to type more. Come to Anvil Rock now and find out yourself! What we lack is manpower, not coverage, not coordination, not our like-mindedness, not our dedication. But you guys will fill the gap! Come to Anvil Rock NOW, lets bring Anvil Rock EXCEED its former glory!

Everyone should return from their adventures. AR is really beginning to wake up again. And you know what happens when you wake up giants. They get angry and they fight hard.

this place is crazy. I’ve been really impressed with what I’ve seen from the server thus far

I recommend this server to any roamers and havoc groups especially

Season 1 brought the best out of AR after we crashed and burned to T8. In order for AR to compete with servers like FC/SF/DH/DR AR would need to gain guilds that can field a consistent 15+ in the following time slots:

2+ NA guilds-Any AR player knows how rough reset can be. Of the T6/7 servers we probably have the weakest NA in terms of guild/zerg fighting groups.

and/or

1+ EU guild-I would say this is when we bleed the most points. Usually it’s Oceanic/SEA players that stayed up late or NA players that play early, either way we don’t have enough against servers like DH/FC/ET. Then again what NA server doesn’t need EU guilds?

and/or

1+ Oceanic/SEA guild-Now everyone and their quaggin cousin knows that AR has a good overnight crew. Credit towards the NA players that stay-up during this time slot to help with defense and pvd. An extra guild would help inflate our ppt so the NA morning wouldn’t be so rough.

We place an emphasis on defense and use guerrilla tactics to get things done when our population can’t match those of our opposition. Pug commanders coming here must realize they can go from a havoc squad to a full on zerg hour to hour. Guile and gusto are the MANvil Rock way!

Why you ask ?

You could waste that free transfer joining one of the several other lower tier servers that rely on numbers vs. skill.

But why would anyone want to do any of the above when you can be a part of the server who

Doesn’t rely on numbers
Is the reason they hide in towers
Is the reason they will avoid fights to PvD

Anvil Rock, they fear us for a reason.

I just came back here from SoS…. Having tons of trouble finding people outside of EB during NA hours… Or for that matter a reliable roaming guild… Has along way to go til it is what it is when [VS] was here… Never the less if you guys know roaming guilds or groups hit me up in game… character name is the same as account name.

The hard to find people outside of EB is somewhat true do to lack of numbers, most WvW guilds currently station themselves in EB and map hop when needed.

As for roaming guilds, I’m not sure how you have not been able to find a reliable roaming guild as there is always some around, TBT, INC, Zero, KAOS, to name a few. Could be the last couple matchup’s have been pretty depressing fight wise, most guilds on kitten em to try and avoid PvD.

Yeah, I know KAOS only comes out to play when there is something worth fighting. Fighting is fairly stale with GoM tending to stay as close to their zergball as possible. Because of that, we haven’t been doing much more than our normal nightly 2-3 man runs raising a little havoc, avoiding the friendly zerg, and dropping in when they need a hand.

We had some fun fights with Zero and TBT this reset in your borders. Mostly even up or outnumbered by ya.

It would be most beneficial in having Garnet and Hodgens back, or even TDME for that matter. I really enjoyed being in the guild and you guys really stepped up in one of AR’s lowest points. It was a lot of fun and cheers for that guys.

Also mad respect for the early beginnings when FourtyOz (aka 40) was running, still hold some of my valued WvW memories during those times when most zergs were still running around like sheep but 40 was taking our pugs and converting them into a force to be reckoned with. Was a real shame to see him and others go.

AR has held a small, close knit community for a long time now, especially thanks to Dogvan of KAOS and others on building the AR website and trying to keep a spark when there was almost none left.

If you’re looking for a server to master the art of roaming, then this is the server for you. If you enjoy hopping on during NA Prime (PST/Server Time specifically) then you can find some good Guild Raids or even pug zergs running and can be a lot of fun.

Just be mindful in that with a small community, comes some very strong, concisive personalities, and that’s putting it lightly.

There are some amazing people to learn from on AR, but also certain “leaders” who can be very immature at times. So if that’s not your forte’, this might not be the server for you. (If you do enjoy immaturity or have a strong personality, this could very well be a good home.)

Don’t expect mass coverage or zergs that always focus PvD. If Commander Ashley Frostnight is still running Oceanic/Early EST NA time, then you can expect good coverage during that time, as he usually does a good bit of “sweeping”.

I’d like to welcome Oak and Vex and a few others into the fold (don’t know the exact guild names but will edit them in). This season is going to be fun!

I’ve been with Anvil Rock since launch. It’s amazing to see how it has changed over time.

I think Anvil Rock is filled with knowledgeable and helpful players. Whether you are old or new to the game, Anvil Rock can be a place for everyone. There are enough guilds to match people’s preferences too (both gameplay and personality). Or start your own guild/bring over your guild from another server! There are plenty of opportunities for everyone, and it’s fairly easy to fit in with the server as a whole.

Join Anvil Rock! It’s fun. It’s entertaining. I promise.

As a regular opponent of ours, AR puts up great fights and are the masters of defense. Kaineng has recently taken quite a few notes on upgrading, defending and holding points like AR does. I’ve been on Kaineng on the ride up to T2 and fall back down, and I have yet to see a server that gets their points defensible and upgraded as quickly as you guys. I can’t speak to the community on the server, but from the outside you definitely appear to have strong organization and communication.

Bump for AR, looking forward to the 18th !

The thing I think I like most about anvil Rock, and I would assume most low tier servers, is the ability for one player or a small group to have a huge impact. My guild is an old guild on AR and I have seen the ups and downs a server can have and stuck it out because the WvW community while small, is generally consistent and fun to play with
Can some days be tough? Not going to lie, there are days I want to throw my computer out the window, but the good times outweigh the bad many times over.

These are videos from some of our wvw guilds and as you can see the fights are good without getting too absurd that solid groups cant have an impact.

Oh, and most importantly…. Bump!

A very important thing to note for any mid to large size guilds. Our oceanic coverage trumps most if not all of the bronze servers. If you find it frustrating that you seem to lose everything over night you wont find that here on AR. Come join us and you’ll see exactly why we can win many of our outnumbered fights. We have plenty of skill just lacking in numbers. So head on over and learn from some of the most skilled small man groups.

I’ll definitely come back to AR if that presence we had end of seasons comes back. I will always be an Anvil Rock Invader. I’d prefer to be an Anvil Rock Invader than a Blackgate/Jade Quarry/Tarnished Coast Platinum legend. I miss all my friends in AR and depending on the presence fluctuation I may come back. However I can say this, AR has an iron will and a determination I have seen on very few servers. They pull maybe 50 – 60 during NA where as their competitors get maybe twice or close to three times that. Their Oceanic/SEA/EU may get bored but never give up.

Anvil Rock is the best community I have ever been in, and the players I met and the friends I made will always be able to count on me.

Also wanted to throw in, that AR is the place to come to if you:

-Love fighting, not tower-humping
-Like wiping larger forces
-Understand the importance of proactive defense
-Like toying with mindless zergs and out-manuevering them by splitting forces (taking SM against larger numbers by luring zerg elsewhere while small-OPs teams seals the deal, for instance).
-Enjoy getting bags from your opponents
-Want to go all “Captain Insano” and open up a case of whoop-kitten on your opponents.

Also, if pvp is ever your thing, AR will be the place to be if the game-mode makes a comeback.

Thank you kindly. And a shout out to you and TBT. You guys always take in the other guild roamers and lead us to insane zerg busting, large scale fights and some of the craziest SM caps ever. Greatly appreciate that.

If anything, we have worked extremely hard to be “that server” and “that WvW community” and it has taken a lot of time and patience. If anything transfer over and meet some of the server patriots who make every day out there a fun day to play. I am proud to be a member of this community.
