I’ve been following the linen market (as well as other cloth) for some time as I am trying to craft a set of ascended armor.

I’m worried about the 33% increase in supply which yet doesn’t cause the buy orders to drop in price. Are people even selling to buy orders? I’m also concerned about the number of sell listings decreasing while buy listings remain about the same.

Any one else share these concerns?

There’s a lot larger of a supply than what’s in the TP. Always has been. Always will be (notably for an item that’s easily farmed).

There was a certain story step you used to be able to farm for a ridiculous amount of linen repeatedly. I don’t know if it has changed.

If it’s the one in Mount Maelstrom then yes.

You are contradicting yourself.
If supply rises by 33%, the number of sell listings cant decrease.

Sell listings are the amount of sell orders, not the total amount of supply.

Supply is the number of total units.

So if the sell orders are decreasing, and the supply is increasing it means that each sell order has many more units per order than previously (people dumping / clumping). The 33% supply dump concerns me more than the number of sell orders. I am concerned that the linen market is greatly controlled by a few hundred who may inadvertently crash or adversely affect the linen market.

How do you know then that the supply in peoples banks rose by 33%?

Really? A quick look at cloth prices on the TP tells me that you’d still earn an average of about 1.5 – 2g profit by crafting Damask to sell.

It’s usually cheaper to use Scraps instead of Bolts. If you put buy orders on the scraps there’s a slight profit (~20s) but it’s not worth the time imo that might why there’s so much linen.

Salvaging for silk is even cheaper than buying scraps. A bit more work though, but not so much.

Edit: looking at the linen supply right now, back to normal. It’s probably quite hard to even dent that market in the long run.
