Zodiac Armors Feeback
Danicia!
Do you think there’s any chance the art team would make a version of this armor without the blue in it? I absolutely love the detail that they put into the rest of the (Light) armor, but I want to still be able to see my character.
(And if you can’t/won’t answer, could we get an Art person in here?)
You’re right, I cannot offer an answer on this. That being said, the reason why the discussion should stay constructive is because I am actively collecting feedback (positive & negative). So. I will put this in my feedback.
Hi Danicia,
Please do consider this option! A lot of people ingame are saying they love the detail of the armor and would gladly purchase it, but are turned off by the blue shiny skin.
In general, I think it would look better without the blue skin. Even considering having to make adjustments for anatomy and the like. The blue skin does fits with the theme. Like the skin is for some kind of statue or celestial or something. I do wonder if it’d look better if we could adjust the color ourselves through dyes.
Personally, I’d prefer if it stayed revealing as those kinds of skins are fairly rare for medium/heavy armors.
i like how the zodiac armor loots…. with the exception of looking like dr. manhatten while wearing it.
give us the option to be blue or not to be blue please

I think people are a bit confused about this armor. The blue parts are armor not skin. Hiding the helm or previewing a single piece with another piece of skin-showing armor confirms this.
Overall I like them, and the direction of full character modification through armor pieces. I can imagine steam punk gloves that grant the skin of a robotic arm, or nature themed limbs/offshoots, etc…very cool stuff.
Some constructive criticism.
1. The female chest armor needs fixed.
I’am basing this off Dulfy’s images, not what I have seen live yet.
2. PvE Locker =)

Can we please move away from the half-naked heavy armor on women trope now?
The Aetherblade set was great. Then Phalanx happened, and now this. Two “heavy” armors in a row with more skin than metal.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
As a Charr player, I really like the set(of Light armor, at least. Shoulders, gloves, and boots notwithstanding). There aren’t many Light armor sets available (for male Charr, or any other male race in general sans Human and Sylvari) that are exotically themed or show off skin. However, the blue skin is the reason I haven’t bought the set yet; because it completely kills the enthusiasm I have for an otherwise perfectly crafted exotic-themed set.
Dyable skin will make no sense as a “hotfix.” I for one would find it weird seeing not only smurfs running around, but in every color of the rainbow? No, thanks.
Please, for the love all things Tryian… Remove the blue skin and (maybe?) cover the females’ chests up some?
Constructive feedback- For those who have bought the armor already – make it an option to toggle the blue haze/skin- as beautiful as it is, I’d love to see my ele’s pretty face in the helmet; not a pre-made face & add a cloth over the bust area that is flattering but not ‘slooty’

I have 8 different PCs (and one laptop) in my house. The armor shows differently depending on graphics cards/settings.
The fact that most of the posters are calling it “skin” means that the effect (which I am sure the artist labored over) is not being correctly conveyed on a wide-scale level. This indicates there is a problems in the design that might need to be addressed.
Retooling is expensive.
So is potential loss of sales.

Hello all,
Please keep your feedback respectful and constructive. We do not mind if you have negative feedback, but please be constructive about giving said feedback. This includes your thread titles. Thank you.
As it Seems People will buy this if you remove or make it possible to Dye The Blue “Skin” texture.
Side Note: What do you guys think of this Armor set without Helm/Shoulders?

Your statement would carry more weight (be more understandable) if not for the fact that you can preview a piece of the armor, with another piece of armor, and explicitly see that the blue isn’t skin. This is regardless of graphics settings (I checked before posting). It seems like far too many people are basing their complaints off of photos and not actually seeing the armor in game.
People not liking the armor is perfectly ok. But people insulting the design for doing something it, very clearly, doesn’t do (show too much skin) isn’t ok.
Blue skins have to go, I think it will look better if the blue skin was changed into blue tattoos similar in design to how ascended weapons look with the glowy gold lines.
Hopefully no silly-nilly censorship like they did with the Arah Heavy armor.

The blue is definitely not the character’s skin, just look at the helm. The blue thing is part of the covering, spandex/latex whatever you may call it.

Not really. I call it “skin” because it looks like skin and keeps the details of skin. The fact that it really isn’t skin doesn’t really matter.
Edit: Yeah, not fond of the pointed ends on the 3 shoes either.
I’m all for there being an option for a version without the blue “skin”. But don’t change it for the people that already bought it and actually want it as it looks currently.

Maybe make an extended cloth that covers the breast area but still is flattering- like a halter top

I bought it for the boots- they’re unique
Personally I love it- I LOVE the shoes for my female mesmer
But what I don’t love is the fact that it gives you a preset face and body type.
The option of having the glowy skin or not should be added- bc I love the way my mesmer looks without the blue skin.
The actual overall armor parts- are beautiful.
Maybe add a chest covering so that nothing is exposed.

I did too. My Ele wanted some decent looking Heels. However, the curly toe needs to go! =D (Actually, the curly reminds me of Genie Shoes)
The medium armour looks considerably like light armour. The light armour looks pretty heavy. I can understand the concept of rarer out-of-place armours, but I worry the medium armour is going to find low demand.
Well, I would honestly be fine if they just made it so that when you toggle off the helmet, the blue skin disappears everywhere so that your body matches. I really, really like the armor designs themselves but at the expense of the rest of my character? Eh..

It’s an armor skin, which is why people are using the word “skin”. It’s the correct term to use.
I did purchase the Zodiac armor skin. I was hoping it looked different than it does in pictures (and the in-game preview panel). Sadly, my opinion is that this armor skin is a mess.

If it’s decided to make the blue skin optional, (which would be fantastic I miss my ele’s face already) the breast area on females can have an added halter top that goes well with the armor, it can actually connect with the current cloth pieces that split on the torso that rides up & attaches to the metal ‘bra’ just the cloth is placed underneath the metal bra- just attach the cloth to the neck area & voila!

They aren’t using “skin” in that context. They are using it to refer specifically to the character’s skin. That’s why the term is incorrect. There’s a reason why all the body features (muscle lines for abs, etc.) vanish when this armor is put on. It’s because the skin isn’t being painted blue, it’s being covered by blue armor.

I find it hard to believe that this would even pass internally, not to mention it couldn’t have been market-tested like that. I can’t help but wonder if it’s actually an error and it wasn’t actually supposed to turn characters into textureless clay models.
I love the zodiac skin, the curled boots- the shiny metal armor- so gorgeous! but what bothers me is that it preset my character to a design that I didn’t do- meaning if I where to wear the full set, the only difference between me & another person wearing the same armor is that one of us may be taller than the other.
The blue skin should be optional from the get-go but also so that we may see the characters we actually created that aren’t brought on pre-set by wearing an armor we like just not the blue skin effects of it.

I’m a bit worried that a new chest-mesh will be needed to make the blue skin toggle-able. The females seem to have an increase in the gazonga area.
The actual armor’s sort of ridiculous, but the biggest issue is that it overrides your face with a terrible-looking generic one.

Oh certainly haha- simple fix would be to make it a halter top that actually looks flattering & not silly like the cleavage ‘fix’ on the heavy version of the female Arah
I love it, plz don’t change it because of the haters
This is one of those very rare situations where I want them to keep the original armor, but also release a slightly altered reskin. LOL

I agree, I’d like to actually see my characters skin though- the current one atm though makes makeover kits pointless
I really like the new armor sets. I just ask that you make the blue dyable as well. I was looking forward to dye it red to give my character a ruby look in gold/white armor. When I found out I couldn’t I was quite saddened. Thank you for you time to read my brief suggestion for this gem store armor set.
I have no idea why they ruined an amazing skin like the Arah chest. It’s so creepy cool with the skeleton hands but you can barely tell what they are they way they re-did that. This blue skin does make each character simply anonymous rather like a bunch of clones running around. I know I won’t be buying it unless its re-worked. I see nothing wrong with the chest as is as long as nipples are not included its not a big deal.
I like the light armor BUT, the blue in it needs to go. I much prefer I have the freedom to add colors to armor myself.
Tell the art team to do something with the blue.
I got this just to check it out. I think that it looks much better on than in the preview. I will agree with some of the other posts that the blue (although a cool idea and neat effect) takes away from the really great design of the other armor. I would like to have it without the effect.
Please leave the Zodiac Armor the way it is. I love the blue effect to it. (And will likely buy 6-8 sets for my various characters. Provided they DO NOT change it, and leave it how it is now.) It matches with the Zodiac themed weapons, and it will not if it is changed. Not to mention a re-skin would likely take away the glow.
I will however hold off on purchasing gems. I’m not going to waste $ just to have my gems refunded to me if they change the armor.
#OccupySAB2014
I’m usually very positive about their designs but this time…sorry Anet, these armors are one of the worst designed armors I’ve seen in any game, period. Casting aside the creepy blue skin and (the usual) Charr tail clipping, they just look so tasteless and over the top. And I thought aetherblade armors were ugly….:S
Who designed those things?
I’m all for there being an option for a version without the blue “skin”. But don’t change it for the people that already bought it and actually want it as it looks currently.
Personally, I’m fine with this. They’ve done second versions of skins before so.
ANET. PLEASE.
JUST RE-RELEASE THE ZODIAC ARMOR.
BUT REMOVE THE BLUE SKIN MODEL.
You can even keep the Dr. Manhattan sets. Just release another version of the respective zodiac armor sets which use the player’s regular model.
