Collaborative Development- Request for Topics
1. Night and morning capping
2. Blobs
3. EB is fun – borderlands boring
Elementalist: Zoddj – Guardian: Untuva Tunkki
1. Skill Lag (especially in tier 1)
2. Server population (balance)
3. More alt friendly (account wide ranks)
1) Alt-friendliness. Specifically reopen the “closed” topic of account bound vs. character bound WXP. Also, the lack of ascended gearing options outside laurel currency, as well as general PvE/WvW reward balancing would fit under this heading.
2) Profession skill balance in WvW.
3) WvW specific balance issues. Siege weapons, WXP trait lines, population disparity, etc.
1) More Maps/More Life to Current Maps
We have 4 maps for WvW and 3 of them use the same one. I would love to see at least 2 more maps, preferably radical to the two current ones.
Here are two suggestions:
i) GW1 type Charr Homeland map where you cant use siege but have to ally with some Charr warband to use a Siege Devourer (as a trebuchet) and Armored Saurus (as a flame ram), etc.
ii) Maps with different themes like Molten etc.
Also, more events should be added to existing maps, similar to PvE maps to add more flavor. For example, maybe if one server holds Stonemist for too long, maybe a dragon boss like Shatterer comes and breaks some walls. Using siege weapons to take down a dragon could be an epic battle.
2) Skill Lag
Basically, improve lag. In huge battles, I can barely move or do anything other than auto-attack.
3) Rewards
Improve rewards, less randomness to chest. Perhaps every even chest gives a guaranteed rare.
Chat suppression needs looking at, it can be frustrating having to whisper someone to use map chat for you.
1. Skill Lagg.
2. Skill vs Blob spamm #1. (More importance on little organized groups)
3. WvW attraction:
- Remake the existing map making that every camp/tower/keep is different and have their own unique upgrades.
- Remake and add more mercenaries and make them be more useful.
- Add more hidding spots and other ways to get score on WvW instead of just capture points.
EXAMPLE: Make the BLOODLUST, instead of gaining stats, make it to increase your score.
So people will start playing for points and strategize better and that also includes better rewards.
EXAMPLE: 1st World best score recieves a Heavy Chest. (Instead of 3 random chests) Also make it harder to get it, for example, you have to increase 5 ranks during the matchup.

1. Implementing a proper Queue.
The intermediary map that you’re going to implement is not going to solve this problem if the “queue” are not first-in-first-out and they remain random.
2. Reward for roaming/scouting.
At the moment, it’s more profitable for the player to remain in the zerg. Those that are requested to scout by their commanders sure are doing a good thing but they’re losing out on so much and are not getting rewarded at all (aside from a thanks).
3. Equipment/skill/trait swapping.
If the 2nd problem will be addressed, and something (say scouting) becomes viable instead of remaining in the zerg. A simple example where this would be helpful is if a person is requested to scout, they might have two different sets and builds, and it’s just a hassle to re-trait and re-equip. Something I dearly miss from GW1.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
1) The scoring system: rewards coverage over fun/balanced fights.
2) Lack of a proper alliance infrastructure, lack of incentives for guild to transfer (for example: retain the upgrades, buy discounts for player transfer fees with influence/merits) and poor commander options (lack of a proper commander interface and maybe a command chain with sub-commanders and such) make very hard to organize a server over the 24/7 coverage
3) Rewards and gear availability: we’re still waiting for ascended back pieces in WvW, only a few armor and weapon stat combination available
Make WvW Eventful! – WvW, 4 years in
Yes, I have 5 lv 80 mesmers – Funny Puns
I just want to start by stating, this is the first time I played a game in which developers actually responded to player feedback and took initiatives such as this.
My three topics of interests for wvw are
1.incentives to defend structures
2. Wxp, masteries adjustments
3. match up rotations improvements
the following is simply the reasons for my topic selections:
reason for 1. selection-I understand that zergbattles and capturing territory is important and all but I feel like a lot of the times I simply run mindlessly, when a structure is under attack, I am often told let it flip its paper we can recap it for the wxp. It makes it even feel pointless to scout..
reason for 2. selection- This relates to my first reason as well, I dislike the handicap that wxp is soulbound, I do not even want to make new characters because if I make a new charc, I would then want to gain some necessary masteries which require me to follow pretty much mindlessly in a world vs world karma train in which the commander seeks to take easy objectives with little incentive to defend.
reason for 3. selection- Also relates to my other points, getting matched up with servers you cannot beat such as the super stacked t1 servers, really takes away incentive to compete to win and further encourages mindless karma, wxp trains.
Overall, my issues with world vs world relate to updates that have taken away the will of many players such as myself to take matchups seriously to try and win or even compete.
1. Commander system
2. Anti-zerg mechanisms
3. Reward systems (like for defense, unique skins, loot, guild leaderboards)
1: Stat progression
2: Server populations
3: Obsidian Sanctum accessibility
1. Skill Lag
2. GvG
3. Class Balance
1. Punish zerging and reward/ make it easier to organise coordinated guildgroups. ( proper raid ui, and closed groups)
2. Stop creating siege and remove aoe caps
3. Make kills count, especially for underdog realm.
MMO Game performance > All
You know it’s bad when even the Dolyak’s have a pause to their gait as they trot up to their destination.
1. Current spell lag
2. Current spell lag
3. Current spell lag
Anet lied (where’s the Manifesto now?)
1. Alt-friendliness (namely account-bound WXP)
2. Anti-zerg
3. Easier defending (masteries and zergs decimate walls/doors, impossible to defend from walls due to AoE spam and LoS issues)
1. Defending structures
2. player assume to role as lord of a structure.
3.
EXAMPLE: Make the BLOODLUST, instead of gaining stats, make it to increase your score.
This is the best idea in here. You, Arenanet, as usual have made something fantastic but have no idea what to do with it. That middle boarderlands part is awesome but there is no point and I mean NO POINT in being there, it needs to be put to use, we need a reason to be there, to fight there. As it stands it’s just wasted space, the water was more useful.
Fix it.
1. Ways of spreading out the zerg
2. Improve the impact of little groups
3. Lag
1. Skill lag
2. Skill lag
3. Skill lag
1 – Alt Friendliness (Acc Bound WvW ranks)
2 – Orb buff
3 – Zerging
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
1. Improve the commander’s overall usefulness. If I were a commander (Sadly don’t have the 100 gold yet for the tag), I would like to place orders around the map that everyone could see, like ‘Attack here’, ‘Move here’, ‘Defend here’, etc. It would help the commander communicate to the rest of the server what his plan is.
At least this bit is already in place, though I find it less than useful.
Great idea here ANet and thanks for including us, I love the way this is going, nice to see a lot more engaging with the community
Underworld Battalion [WvW] Leader (retired) – Gandara [EU]
All Is Vain https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/gf-left-me-coz-of-ladderboard/
1.) Account bound WvW ranks PLEASE!
2.) Skill Lag
3.) More commander functionality
1) Build Diversity/Ability to save several trait setups for swapping roles
2) Ability to reset WXP spent
1)Queues on leagues
2)Queues on leagues
3)Queues on leagues
1. account bound wvw xp and ranks
2. skill lags and dc when zerg is nearby
3. get rid of death scouting and change defeated player color
1. Lag
2. WvW reward system (should be closer to DAoC’s)
3. Need to motivate people to not blob/zerg.
80 Necromancer (IRNY), 80 Guardian (IRNY)
GW2: it’s like DAoC, but for the WoW crowd.
all of this list
1. No more of this blob cr*p that creates skill lag. We have skill lag because some servers only run 70+ people (whole map zerg) to specifically lag everybody so that nobody can use any other skills than 1, no heals, no downed stake skills, nothing. Unless these blobs face another blob its 90% in favor of the blob
2. Instead of 3 exact same maps and EB make 4 different maps so people have actual incentive and fun instead of all same maps. Why not map 1 fire theme, map 2 forest theme, map 3 mountain snow theme and map 4 the current EB. I only do EB because it has the fun of SM…the other 3 maps are boring as hell and exactly the same. Redesign them. Make a mechanic that forces to rotate to another map after a certain time ie you gain extra server points for moving to map 2,3,4 for 45 minutes. If you stay more than 1 hour on the same map you get less server points.
3. Queues are a joke. There should be zero queue time to fight for your server. I see you are introducing a new queue map. That s great but that map needs to also contribute to the score I hope.
4. We need better report tools for griefers and people who waste supplies and blatantly spy. Introduce bounties. Any player can put a bounty on a player. It costs a skill point. Once you get 5 people putting the same bounty then the other servers see the bounties in the name color of the player and can go after that player. You kill the player, your server gains points. A player can only have 5 bounties on self per day. Or something similar to avoid griefing
1) Population/Coverage mismatch.
2) Alt unfriendliness.
3) Lack of reward/motivation to defend.
1) Better Alt support in WvW (Account bound WvW ranks)
2) Higher AoE cap (No reason siege should be 50 people but a person is only 5…)
3) Better commander icon support and control, diff colors, shown only to guild ect…

1: Server population imbalances
2: Skill lag
3: Reward imbalance between pve/wvw

After yesterday i want to change my points:
-Fix skillag
-Fix lag
-Fix skill lag
-Lix fkill sag
-Six lkill kitten
+1 made me chuckle
1. Lag
2. Queue
3. Glitchy terrain (port through terrain under map)
bottom line: please, fix the insane skill lags and soul-crushing queues.
1) Stealth.
2) Dolyak die too quickly, carry too little supply and move too slow.
3) Swiftness is a must.
The top three:
1. Commander Tag / Party functionality
2. How WvW population is handled. Stacking VS deserted servers.
3. WvW rewards no where near PvE rewards. Ascended, legendary, Achievements etc.
(edited by Urrid.4593)
1 Possibility of border land map rotation (ie 3+ unique maps that change each week so its unlikely that each bl is a mirror)
2 new seige types
3 new wvw only utility skills
1. Reason to defend. If I had a nickel for everytime I heard “let them have it” insyead of defending….
2. Longer sieges…goes hand in hand with #1. Stop the flipping back and forth.
3. Make borderlands matter. Make a server WANT to defend their borderlands before all else. If someone is invading your realm you should WANT to kick them out. Make borderlands unique for each server. Make it ours and unlike no one elses, something we can relate to. Make us want to defend it.
1. WvW have a serious problem, is always the same thing. You get your zerg and walk around. WvW need improvements to make the WvW more a Siege Battle. Make the map be larger, relocate the towers and castles to more strategic places, when you cap, you can build waypoints for example, but this waypoints are temporary. For example a WP with 1 minute duration will cost less than a 5 minutes, to balance this, make to everyone who dies need to be dead for determinate time, this time he can’t resurrect, so he’ll think twice before be stupid and only commanders can make modifications on the builds. We can have heavy and dense forests on the map where ppl can hide and form strategies.
2. Mounts, will be stables on the servers main places, this stables get suplies to create mounts, to have mounted combat, skills for each kind of weapon to the mounted stance. EVERY war have mounted soldiers, this is basic. This way you can create a cavalry squad.
3. Commander System, commanders can take you away of any siege build or horse. Also commands to regroup, attack, wait, build, etc. This commands will show to the player screen who is on his squad, for the nearby player will show on the minimap with the name of the commander who did it. Make possible report bad or troll commanders. If someone is afk for more than 1 minute, the commander will see a clock on his head and he can kick this player from the WvW, and a “ZzZz” symbol for example to ppl who is walking around the main base doing nothing for more than 5 minutes, he can kick too. So with this commanders will can control the population of the WvW, kicking off the useless ones.
Well, there a lot of things I can put in this post, I played a lot of MMOs for 8 years and I always paid attention on the game systems , know what works and not, but i’m sure noone will read after all. lol~
The only thing that needs work is lag. So:
1) Lag.
Blobs can be outdone by better blobs, or more skilled, smaller blobs… as long as skill lag doesn’t kick in. Queues can easily be sorted out… lower tier servers have little to nothing in terms of queues, so either put up with queues or leave the server you’re on. Queues are largely the product of greedy folks transferring to higher ranked servers and expecting things to go well. Anet is working on some kind of overflow map, but it won’t be up for quite a while. Until then, put up with it, or leave your server. There are plenty of lower tier server that would like some love. Rewards in wvw are fine. They could be improved, but again, it’s not necessary. I fail to see anything else in wvw that is as potentially game breaking as the lag.
1 – Alt Friendliness (most notably wxp)
2 – Commander System
3 – Skill Lag
1 – Skill lag
2 – Queue
3 – Make defending more rewarding.
1. Defending towers and castles
2. Rewards for taking care of towers, escorting dolyaks, scouting and other non-zerg activities.
3. What are the good things about WvW. Which things got worse or better in the game.
1 – Skill lag
2 – Item spiral and the need to PvE in order to keep up with it (e.g. some ascended gear not obtainable by WvWing exclusively/for the most part)
3 – Queues
And there is only one thing we say to Death: ‘Not today’.
Make supply camps a little more defensible. Add choke points to deter zergs.
Rebuff camp Supervisor after each upgrade
Full upgrade = Champion Supervisor
Full upgrade = Faster Dolyaks
Alter terrain to deter zergs
Have groups of 30+ visible on the maps
Upgrades to keeps/towers/camps provide defensive buffs
Allow Up levelled players access to full skills choice
Fast flipping of towers/keeps give no reward for an hour to slow down the relentless Wxp trains
Additional upgrades available for towers/keeps/camps
Increase HP on doors/walls/guards in line with improved traits
Gunnar’s Hold www.gunnarshold.eu
1. Fix skill lag – this is probably the nr1 point for every player right now and there is a reason for that. The lag makes WvW unplayable right now sadly.
2. Actual Raid UI for commanders and Guild Commander function – many MMOs have this and it only makes sense to implement something like this. Guild Wars 2 has a potential to be an amazing RvR game if the raiding options were extended. An example could include a 20+ man party interface, personal damage/boons/healing breakdown for the raid leader to see how efficient each player is and make it easier for them to theorycraft. Also an added target calling function and hidden commander tags can’t be hard to implement.
3. Make WvW an actual game mode – it would be really cool if WvW got its own game mode. This means we could equip a separate set of equipment and traits for WvW, much like in sPvP. Since WvW is essentially a Player versus Player (PvP) mode it is understandable why WvW builds are not as efficient in dungeons and vica-versa.

1. I wanna be a Superhero! / Don’t you know who I am?
2. I don’t like challenge.
3. I like Shinies, lots of them!
I think this pretty much sum’s the feelings behind most of the request
My actual #1 is Account Bound and retraitable WxP. I have 10 characters with a collective rank of 146. That’s mostly from being a scout/escort/builder. Though the bulk of these points are on my Ranger. Whom is becoming less and less useful in WvW. Making these points relatively useless. It feels more like a punishment than a reward.
1- Anti-blobing
2- GvG
3- Rewards for small scale activities (defending and roaming)
