My take on empyreal is that the amount you get is reasonable if you’re not trying to build one ascended every day and let it come more naturally.
Except, I am trying to build them as quickly as possible. I have a lot of alts to gear out and I have OCPD. Not having BIS gear makes me dizzy.
Haha. Well in my case this patch just changed completely the way I’ll see and handle this game. I’m not going to rush this grind because of my alts. So I just decided on a main and 2nd almost-main. That would be elementalist and engineer, because they are the classes I find the most fun to play. While I’m never going to gear my warrior with any sort of new ascended stuff, ever. By the time I’m close to being done with gearing a fourth or fifth alt they will already have introduced ascended armor etc. Which is why I’m not going to bother with alts now.
Ascended armor will be crafted too and I expect the process to be even more expensive.. have you seen the armor crafting material in your bank? it already has its own bank slots the material just can’t be crafted yet.
Although depending on how this goes I might just leave the game when they do ascended armor. I don’t want to catch cancer again doing things that weapons are already going to make me do for weeks.

I feel like you’re trying to say that easier dungeons would make it easier to get BiS gear… dungeons are still stupidly easy and BiS gear is now a mind numbing grind of press 1 in uncoordinated zergs instead of what anet promised they would do with gear. It’s not an issue of time, it’s an issue of time spent doing absolutely nothing interesting.

I am not complaining about the speed of acquisition, I’m complaining that we are being made to do bad, terrible, inane, crap, boring, kitten, cancer inducing content to get it. Joining temple and world bosses zerg literally gives cancer. Didn’t you know?
You keep talking about all this “challenging content” you love to do in the form of high level FOTM. Yet you see nothing wrong with being pushed into spamming zergs to be able to get some gear, while your said challenging content actually gives nothing of worth at the moment? Again I didn’t buy this game thinking I was getting “Zerg Wars 2”.
So far all the recent updates seem centered around the concept of zerguing kitten. The invasions, this (to push people back into world boss + temple), the updates to world bosses.. anet loves their zerg more than they love their dungeon community. They promised to revamp all the dungeons and instead they just stopped after doing AC and chose to focus on something like.. revamping world bosses. Seriously? revamping zerg crap was a higher priority than revamping the dungeons now?

To make necros useful in dungeons, one need to look at where a Necro’s strength is.
1) Debuffing
2) Snaring
3) Surviving against DOT damage.
4) Condition damage.
Right now the mobs:
1) Strong without any buffs.
2) Never kites. Immune to snares.
3) Blast one hit kill attacks. One hit kill favours blocking and damage avoidance, which necromancer do not have much.
4) “Protected” by the 25 bleeding stack limit.
To make necro useful, mobs need to be changed so that:
1) Mobs in dungeons are nerfed stats wise, and this new thing call “Mob Normal buff” “Mob Veteran Buff” etc should be added. Basically mobs are strong with buffs and weak without their respective buffs. This gives room for necromancers to debuff them, making them weak.
2) Mobs needs to start kiting to avoid dying, but at the same time are no longer immune to snares. This puts a need for snares in a dungeon, and give necromancers a way to snare them.
3) Reduce the direct damage from mobs, and at the same time introduce more heavy DOT damage. This would make necro’s degen/regen game variable in dungeons.
4) Increase the 25 bleeding stack limit to 50.
Its the same thing for other underpowered classes in dungeons. The mobs have to be designed according to each of the 8 classes’ strengths.

There is a huge difference between the two, in that if there are people being carried in your group in many dungeons the run will be a lot slower. A price to be paid so to speak.
Zerg content.. you can’t really do anything about zerg. It’s not instanced, it’s not like you can kick anyone for running condition builds. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised that part of the reason why some of these events feel so slow is because of the number of condition build being ran in that zerg, scaling champions and bosses up without being able to damage them more since the cond caps are hit in like 0,1 second. Whenever I do Lyssa there’s often the odd mob following me around forever, at one point I had a one shot murdering risen farmer following me for the whole duration of the event and despite all the AoE being done within the zerg he never died there just wasn’t enough damage to kill it so I had to kite that thing until Lyssa died. That was a.. ton of fun, so to speak. Just nothing that could be technically done against that mob. I tried hitting it myself but then I realized that I was barely dropping its HP and the only way to kill it would be to be in a zerg that provides decent damage because of the scaling, and this zerg obviously had zero damage.
Zerg are something you can’t control. You can’t do anything about it. The only thing you can do is not die and spam 1111.
Add to that the lags, the framerate drops, the inane amount of graphical effects etc and you can see how there is just no way in hell that I would ever find zerg content enjoyable.

Actually if you made more bosses like laurent (frequent painful attacks), then I could see necro’s being taken for extra blind spam and stacking weakness on top of guardians protection for damage mitigation. Laurent is so ridiculously easy when you have a necro dishing out extra blinds and providing perma weakness. Shame thats just one fight in the entire game.

This is exactly why I can’t stand Zerg vs Zerg.
Also it’s pretty funny when you can see your own damage against Champions, really makes you wonder what the 30+ people with you are doing :|
I tried a bit of Meta event farming the other day, it was a good opportunity to catch up with some old players, browse the TP and Gem Store. After about an hour or so I had run out of things to do and gave up after getting like, 200 Dragonite Ore… I have a feeling that’s not going to be enough xD

You pretty much can’t blind Leurent but you can blind all the adds that come with him which makes him infinitely less of a threat on his own. Just pray that you’ve melted him before you’re outta Aegis xD

Hammer blind? You can’t just press a button to instantly pop it when you want it, you have to get to it in a slow hammer auto chain.

1/ Glyph of storms on earth attunement. Just stick to earth attu before fights start then after you cast that you can immediately swap to water,
2/ You can use the stunning field on lightning hammer to calm down packs of mob before using your autoattack blinds. Just be smart about the positioning.
3/ All LH ele groups have a guardian and the guardian’s ability to blind is enough to kickstart the process before the LH chains takes it over anyway. You don’t really need more blind than what the combination of Guard + Ele provides.
4/ Fun fact about LH : the blind is applied often enough that you can just afk autoattack the jade maw tentacle solo. Or could, in theory, you still need to dodge the maw’s laser/pick up stuff when you are targeted :>.

You can salvage exotics for inscriptions and craft to 500 for basically free or even profit.
out of 30-40 exotics i got 1 inscription…..
Guess what: you threw away a ton of money by not understanding how it worked properly. You get the inscriptions only from exotics that have stats that cannot normally be crafted which means Soldiers, Magic, Rabid, Dire. If you make 40 Berserker exotic focuses and salvaged them you just threw away a lot of money. The inscription salvage rate is around 2/3rds…. if you actually salvage the correct ones.

A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
Meh well then it really is the weakness from necro that makes laurent so easy. Hello glancing blows.
Unfortunately Necros aren’t good at stacking Weakness, either. Withering Precision RIP.
The elem is king at stacking weakness: dagger air 2 + glyph of elemental power

Weakening shroud is almost perma weakness Nike. They nerfed the weakness duration on enfeebling blood to 6 seconds but they forgot to change it for weakening shroud. Withering precision needs to be revamped though.
Weakness still sucks in dungeons though.

It’s actually not even worth taking a Necromancer into Fractals. Just take 5 Warriors that know how to dodge.

Just do your dailies on it and it will be 80 eventually haha. Thats what im doing on my thief.
They should be kings of applying vulnerability IMO, just thematically. But even if they did that and buffed their damage a bit, maybe gave a couple ways to spread might stacks, they’d still be on the boring side.

I mean, your build is probably the best they can hope for in high-DPS teams spoj but they would need serious, big time rework to make me want to take mine. Was it you or someone else who suggested they should have Orders? Even with that, how do you make them better or even different from Spotter/Empower Allies? Maybe a crit damage order, perhaps a flat damage boost a la Frost Spirit. Doesn’t matter, Anet will never change the class in a meaningful way. They were broken on release. How long did it take them to actually fix Death Shroud after they changed their mind on it being the downed state?

Yeah the dagger spam is pretty boring. But using DS to aoe combo is quite fun. If they got a decent new cleave weapon I could deffo see having alot more fun outside of DS.

Yeah it was me and a few others in the necro forums that suggested orders. I do think if anet do go down the route of something like orders the best solution would be a similar effect to frost spirit. And then another which makes attacks apply vuln. My biggest hope is that when they get round to releasing new weapon options for classes, necro will get GS or sword and it will have something that makes it more than just a decent cleave option.
Id love to take my necro into dungeons, but im against being useless, I always take the class that I can be most beneficial to the group with even in pugs. So yeah major overhaul would be needed to make them good. But they only need some minor fixes/buffs/changes to make them atleast more desirable in certain situations.

To be fair, they saw the wrong class. It’s engineers that you need to press 1 over and over most of the time when in a specific build, because we don’t have an auto attack for grenades.

Guardian there are some worse than others, a hammer build is a lot more auto-attacky than a GS build, but for the most part a RHS build gets the most value from it’s auto.
You lost me at the subject. I’ve never, nor do any of the hardcore dungeon runners I know running 40+ fractals, ever restrict by class. Most every class is well balanced, and any content can be done with any class combination.

So according to gw2crafts it will cost about 700g to craft my way CLOSE to level 80, because each profession gives 7 levels from 0-400 and 3 levels from 400-500. Not to mention that I can only take 3 professions to level 500. So yes, it’s literally millions of gold to level my Necromancer.

Do 20 with one of those scrolls, then it’s just 60 more lvls, do 0-400 for the 7 lvls on 8 crafts to get to 76. Refine some ori/ancient wood you got lying around for a bit of some 400-425 leveling or swap the character in at the end of dungeons for the exp.

I haven’t done the numbers yet but I would presume in an organized group the debate will be 30/10 vs 30/0. And the resolution of that debate comes down to how many boons you assume for Empowered. Forceful GS is still a dps loss in a group that Might caps, so I wouldn’t consider 30/25 optimal in those conditions.
The CD on Rush and WWA for trash running seems nice, but really even in Arah how many trash runs do you need to use those skills twice? Maybe once on p1 would it be nice to use Rush a second time. If you have Sword/WH on swap for the runs you are moving to the next safe spot quick enough.
