CoF p2, Mag door
http://www.youtube.com/user/randomfightfan/videos?view=0&flow=grid
I’m glad I got to experience clearing the room in its previous state, both with my personal dungeon team and with PuGs. I’ll miss it. At least when I do PuG CoF p2, I don’t have to deal with the 1-2-2 suicide nonsense.
The pre-patch part is fun, but it is painful for non-dps group.
No problem with guild, but usually 1-2-2 with pugs.
Yup i tottally agree. Before it was a bit challenging and intriguing to clear it.But now?Meh…
At least now people aren’t doing the kiting trick- not that they could even if they wanted to.
I don’t understand why people have to kite the Magg room pre-patch. Killing them is much faster.

It is IF you have a proper DPS party. I see alot of people say this but then they dont realize they either run with a steady dungeon group or/and had a high dps party. Sure, its doable with lesser dps but sometimes the effort isnt worth it when it’s easier to just kite as stated.

Actually takes the same amount of time. Either way you had to keep the mobs off of magg till 100%.

Not true at all, did a full clean with a full cleric ele, full zerker thief, full zerker warrior, and support guardian (me). We 4manned the whole defend magg event w/o a single person downing. It’s not a dps issue, its a learn to focus + stack mobs issue.

I two-manned it with a Ranger and Engineer. Oh you want proof? I don’t have proof.

I could care less if you believe me, I know i can do it, my party knows we can do it. Non-believers can shout and call blasphemy if thats what makes them feel better. Most of that encounter revolves around 2 aspects.
1. Party learns to dodge/mitigate smokelord lava font burst.
2. Stacking mobs for maximizing damage.
Having “super duper uber dps” is an alternative to getting around idea #2. Knowing when to use CC’s and on what target makes that fight very very easy. Every class has knockdowns/knockbacks. Should try using them instead of mashing dps skills all day.
Am I the only one who had to get actually good players to make this work? Took my team quite a few tries to get it right. This one actually requires that you focus and call targets. The other one was just beat kitten up or run around and die. I think there’s a clear winner here.

I liked the new encounter for the first 30% of it. Then i got bored of how long it actually is mashing tab+1 on my keyboard. This encounter was dumbed down for people to literally smash their faces on their keyboard and still complete it.
Sounds like the length it takes Magg to set the bomb can be looked at. It HAD to be “dumbed down” because of the new no res rushing mechanic. 1-2-2 is no longer an option, and “LTP N00b” is just rude, encounters should not be so difficult it requires several party wipes to learn them, so the encounter really should be “smash their faces on their keyboard” easy. It’s not even a boss encounter, its just kill stuff for a duration, how much difficulty do you want?

No res rush is anet’s way of saying “Learn the encounters”. I learned them, and it made them much smoother and easier. Banging your head on a keyboard to clear an encounter is not teaching anyone anything. I get Robert put a great deal of effort on this, but it is just boring after you do it enough times.

I’ve done this encounter with some of the less popular setups myself as well. My group’s main thing was stacking mobs, using anti projectiles if available, spiking down called targets, calling low HP targets for kill rally if downed, and avoiding lava font bombs. It’s a fun accomplishment to have done this myself and to have taught a few PuGs that it can be done.
I’ll miss the old encounter, but at least the new one still encourages target calling. The assassin stability was an interesting touch, but my team quickly adapted to using snares to help us spike the assassins.
The room is stupid easy as it is right now but why in the world did they make it so NONE of the mobs drop any loot?! This path was already terrible for loot but now they just made it even worse

That’s a problem with the profession, not the encounter. When I did it, I had to be on my toes, throwing snares in the right place to make sure my team had enough time to kill the assassins. Mix that with throwing down AoE Healing and damage constantly. It was pretty intense.

Ive done every dungeon and I think most of them are boring. We’ve gotten to the point where our idea of fun is doing CoE path 2 and trying to kill each other with the golems instead of the boss. The encounter before the patch at least made you learn what each individual flame legion’s attack tell was if you wanted to clear it properly. This way is just spam your auto attack cleave till magg blows the kitten door up.
This new patch is definatly Magg, dumbed down. I miss the old event, an actual challenge even with 1-2-2. Now this is a joke
Great patch, the easiest dungeon of the game CoF is easier than ever.
Time for hard and super hard mode.
