Cough P1 + Thieves
hmmm, He/she landed 10k, 12.6k, 12.2k, 17k, 15.7k, 13.3k, in just 6-7sec
not counting the 6-8Ks’ auto attk, and the Hounds(2k each AOE, with 700+auto)
I like this video from the same guy better tho(w/o hounds)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYwcWLsKoac
Landed 15.7k, 12k, 19.9k, 14.1k, 25.9k, 16k, 21.5k…not acounting autos lol just insane.
U guys asked for a full run?, Will do when I finish playing real life games.
This conversation seems pretty moot given sotg showed devs discussing raising thieves’ base damage numbers. If that happens it will easily be no contests.
I really don’t mind thieves being the top DPS class for the risk they take in playing — eles should follow them behind because the class with 13k hp in berserker should do more damage than the one with 15-17k base hp.
What I do hope is that this game will move to value more things in encounters than how quickly you can burst bosses down. Support/tankier builds are pretty much useless at the moment, as are condition builds.
First I thought you were talking about Thieves but then I realized you just want your main class absurdly buffed.
Beat this, and I will then post one of our fastest.

- 50% quickness from TW.
- 5 sec quest dalay after Slaver Boss
- 45 sec Acolyte spawn.
but I think the idea of GS Warrior = #1 idea needs to go, which is why I posted this.
If that was your goal, you failed since that run was no faster than a typical group comp made of equally skilled player, and in a few areas a bit slower.
If your goal was to show that adding a thief to the team in place of the 4th warrior is perfectly fine, you succeed, although we already knew that.
Video of your claim please that GS Warriors are faster. And I’m not talking about a video before quickness was nerfed from 100% to 50% attack speed.
Unfortunately this will be hard for Nike Porphyrogenita because GS will only be able to kill Slave Driver at about 10 seconds (w/o pull) or longer when TW goes up while we are doing it in 6 seconds. (and if mesmer pushes to wall, that’s +1 second up)
Mesmers are probably going to get that quickness back here on Tuesday.

They gon bring 3s Reveal back? O.o
T heard they’re putting quickness back to 100%, is that true?
Not any faster than a warrior group from what I saw? I also take down gate as fast as that with frenzy axe. You can say “well, but we are just as good as you can see…”, but most thieves will not be.
I would LOVE to see that.
Pls put a vid of it here

Didn’t you know that you’re a noob if you play anything but warrior in pve? /s
Therefore his/her group does more DPS.
Quite possible. But I personally don’t care about having the fastest Slaver Driver kill record. Since the difference between their slave drive kill and an average pug is 3-4 seconds, it isn’t highly likely to be the deciding factor in total dungeon speed run time. I reckon with our new warrior rotation for the gate we might do it about a single second slower or roughly the same.
But again, even in a dungeon as simple as cof1 there are 1000 little inefficiencies that can happen which add up to significant time by the end. So a total dungeon speed run means playing as perfect as possible from zone in until zone out, and that is what matters to me.
tl;dr: killing a boss 1.5 seconds faster is irrelevant if you do everything else 20 seconds slower.
You were right about the 20s slower.
They have a video up
Faster, even tho Acolyte spawned 5 seconds slower each for them and with the 5 seconds delay for the gate to open after the Slave Driver kill.
And in addition, they did a 50% TW compare to your 100% and with a 4sec Reveal nerf for thieves.
If this was done at the same date as yours(back when acolytes spawn in 40 sec, and back when the gate after slaver boss opens 5 sec faster), it easily would of been a 5:28-5:33min run.
and as mentioned, Its not their fastest.

I think you really need to re-read what was posted friend. Whoever it is ur replying to was posting a sarcastic message implying that thieves = noobs. I’ve seen, heard, and been told countless times that I should roll a war (already have one but don’t like using it) b/c thieves are soooooooo bad in pve.
There was no insult, it was just a joke.

I hv to agree that thief hv higher dps than war. I still like my 50k 100b though. lol
too bad cof is gonna get nerfed in 2 days’ time
Watched the video, good job, it was fast. However, I would never want to party with you guys. Just watch chat, it’s ridiculous how they talk.
“I don’t see how any dies on that part” – Not all classes have the same utilities and escape functions as your slippery thief.
“You need to get to your brazier faster” – yet he doesn’t have any food and is sitting there asking people to send him things.

And that main class is? Feel free to ask guildmates how often I’ve switched classes among the 6 I have at 80. Of course, I made the mistake of leveling warrior and thief last. But at least I enjoy the thief — can’t say the same thing of the warrior class that everyone wants in their speed runs as of late.

I’ll be happy to update my video, we have improvements since then as well, and people are forgetting the banner benefit buff which is more noticeable for the last boss.

I agree with Espada, I mean its not that hard to dodge those fire AOE, you can actually see them coming. I dont die with my mesmer, I dont even use blink. AND whats wrong with asking people for a food, I do that too. She even mentioned that her inventory/mail was full. “You need to get to your brazier faster” -no harm done there either XD.

Oh yes, forgot to point this out. Thanks for proving for us in another aspect how thieves would outplay GS Warriors.
Oh, and you are one of those people would be offended by small easy tips I give, especially in a recording where we are being pressed by time limits to squeeze for seconds (because you guys asked for it?)? Then I wouldn’t want to group with someone who would be so butts hurted. I never knew improvement was a bad thing. And that’s why I avoid pug warriors – too many GS warriors think their #1 and are immedietely offended (as evident in this thread) by the simple fact that their not as gewd as they claim to be and still have lots of room for improvement.

Deleted in order to not start a flaming war. Have fun with your CoF thief runs
By the way, your assumption is wrong. I’m a mesmer
(edited by Ethics.4519)
I agree, people shouldn’t die on that part. But why be a kitten in all caps and ask that during a video showing how uber fast elite you are? (Not you, but the person recording)
he said that because about 50 times one guy posted the reason why thieves suck in cof (despite having better boss kill times) is b/c they WOULD fail on all those inbetween parts. Since that’s the only inbetween part where one really could fail, he posted that comment there to shut up the very annoying person who was very vocal in this thread. Just his way of saying running from point a to point b has nothing to do with classes so it really shouldn’t matter if it was edited out in the 1st video.

I would not be offended, I just think it’s rude. I wouldn’t run with you anyway, so it doesn’t matter. Also, before you make assumptions about me, stop, because you’re wrong. I don’t like warriors. I’m a mesmer main, but I also have a ranger, ele, and thief. That’s right, a thief, not a warrior. I’m just not sure what you are even trying to say. Back on the first page I said “what’s your actual claim” instead of just posting an unedited video.

As for asking for food, that’s a scrub move. If you don’t have food on then you’re no better than the person who dies at the fire or somebody who hits for 7k instead of 7.1K
Also, fully Team Strife here. He has amazing videos on youtube which has helped me immensely. From strategy, to team comp, to builds. All around, a much better contributor to the GW2 community than you.
What i said in capped is not for everyone, its for those ignorant warriors who think they’re the center of everything and is the fastest also saying/assuming that we THIEVES die during that certain run. Also, even a group of guardian and even eles can beat our run(maybe). Unlike that of Nikaido, Jul n other warriors, which they pretty much said that Group of Warriors are the fastest. Absurd, They think Warriors are superior to other profession. AND IF done right, even a group of eles, guard, ranger, necro, engineer etc, could probably do a run as fast. Soo for those few warriors, pls don’t be arrogant claiming ur superior to other class. None are ment to be.

He and Espada both speaks the truth, and Phiera’s thread is saying that other class combinations can run CoF faster or as fast as a group of warriors/mes. only blind people wont agree to that. Peace.
Contributing to the community through helping in the creation of class discrimination that we can find present at any time @ gw2lfg.com and so that other classes don’t have an opportunity for CoF farm? Ok, that’s real contribution to the community through misinformation.
lol looking at this thread – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/10G-HR-CoF-Path-1-Farming-Guide/page/4#post1916757
And its the EXACT same people bashing other classes for CoF farm. Real misinformation. GJ guys.
Bunch of warriors discriminating Thieves and the rest lol WTFFFF??
Zerk warrior will be the cookie cutter build for COF just because:
1) Warriors are more likely to be in zerker. People seem to think warriors are tankier than other classes just because of their high health pool and heavy armor, even though neither of those things really make that much of a difference. Either way, there are more pug warriors in zerker than, say, pug guardians.
2) It’s kind of hard to mess up a zerker warrior build. Most people have no idea what they’re doing with regard to traits, but warrior has obvious, attractive-looking traits that just happen to be pretty decent DPS (Berserker’s Power, Heightened Focus, Forceful Greatsword) that anyone can figure out they need to be taking. By comparison, I see very few guardians or thieves who have a proper DPS spec. 90% of the guardians I see run something bizarre like 0/15/30/20/5, which makes zero sense because none of the traits at those thresholds are even good, except 20 Honor.
3) Warrior does big numbers. 20k on HB? OMG MUST BE BEST DPS
Objectively speaking, I can see a thief comp being extremely efficient for short “burst it down” boss fights like the ones in COF1. The biggest problem with thieves is that they can’t maintain a constant stack of group might (Warriors have FGJ and Guardians have Empowering Might, by comparison), but with a mesmer with Signet of Inspirations and thieves with Thrill of the Crime, plus Venomous Aura, you can burst a boss to 25 might and vuln and fury stacks for just long enough to kill him. The coordination required is a lot higher of a hurdle than I AM BIG STRONG WARRIOR LOOK AT MY HB NUMBERS though.
Congrats on your video. I love good competition. I really hope you do have a faster video in reserve, you will probably need it.
Just thought I would update everyone. Strife made a new video.
5:43 seconds.

Both Strife’s video and Phira’s video were made in the same patch. I am sure if any major changes happen with the patch, everyone will make another video haha!
But today they might not be valid at all as far as we know.
But today they might not be valid at all as far as we know.
As of today Strife’s video is faster, until Phira posts another video. You can’t really comment on the future as we don’t know what the patch will bring, so just analyze the best method as of today.
I’ve never speed run cof so I can’t really analyse anything, I’m just here for drama.
Just posting a comment so I can see the thread update more clearly. grabs popcorn
Resident Thief
“Please be advised that a new build will be available within the next hour or two.”
Not within my power to create another video now until after patch. (Nobodies online + going out in a couple of minutes). We’ll have to hope that there isn’t a CoF nerf.
I’d like to comment on some part of the video.
-In Strife’s video, first gate opens at 0:55 whereas our opened at 1:02 because I got stuck in cinematic for 5-10 seconds-ish. If you even that out, it would be 5:43 vs. 5:45 already.
-Once again, before the last boss, one of our thief got stuck in cinematic so he was late to the battle. The person recording the video was also late to the battle as well, he shouldn’t have waited that long or have used elite there.
-One of the Warrior was late to the slave driver fight and then slave driver got pulled because one of the thieves used Guild of Thieves (and I told them not to use that elite), which pulled slave driver losing us about 1 or 2 ish seconds.
-At the boulder, I didn’t forgot to get Blink so we took 9 seconds to get to the other side whereas Strife’s team took 6 seconds.
-I didn’t feedback the last boss’s hit which lost us a second (it does about 7% dmg of the boss’s total hp)
-And as Strife mentioned, gearing. He’s on full ascended. We don’t have full ascended.
Just by merely accounting for our lesser CPU spec having us stuck in cinematic all the time would have already evened our time to Strife’s team (losing about 10 seconds). Then the Mesmer actually blinking would of put us at a faster video than Strife’s (with 3 seconds).
As I said before, a video takes into account all these other factors that don’t have any role in class composition. If you want to make an argument that because of Phira’s crappy cpu (and other thieves too), therefore Warriors are better, you can (but I don’t think that’s logical).
Lots of silly complaining
Hahaha, this is so…so sad. You’re just making excuses man. All the things you listed just lead to a longer run, which is why your video was longer.
Just make a shorter video and then you won’t need so many lame excuses.
Losing around 10 seconds because we got stuck in cinematic is fair? Simple logic would say otherwise. Taking into account that already shows we were truly faster (even though our CPU specs wouldn’t allow us to achieve that). This is up to the audience to decide (and I’m sure they would know CPU specs have nothing to do with class composition).
Great news

I can make excuses also:
- We didn’t have 25 might at slave driver
- I didn’t use banner rush
- I messed up on one acolyte
- I got knocked down by the flame effigy
- We didn’t run Hounds of Balthazar on 3 warriors and just stick 1 warrior with Banner Elite which is the same thing as SoR + 4 FGJ + Mesmer Signet.
Just make a video and then if you beat it we’ll try again.

To be fair I personally wouldn’t count it towards a speed run if the warriors used hounds same as I wouldn’t count it if the thieves used it. Reason being is that they are a race skill. If the thieves used thieves guild that’s fine as you’re not further forcing annoying restrictions. It would make it so instead needing to be a warrior or get kicked from the run, you’d need to be a human warrior, or get kicked from the run. I left thief out b/c people are still generally dumb and kick thieves on sight, no matter what. Perfect example is I couldn’t get into a run for an hour yesterday just cause I wanted to use my zerker thief instead of my zerker warrior. Nobody wants that to be even further abused since for people like me, I don’t use human. I have a norn thief and sylvari warrior. After 1300 hours on my thief, I’m not going to re-roll human just b/c one guy thinks it’s better than thieves guild.
In short, use the skills that come with your class, not your race.

Seriously? Is the viability of a thief in CoF really being judged over a 10 second discrepency between videos?
Seriously? Is the viability of a thief in CoF really being judged over a 10 second discrepency between videos?
Discrepancy in time that has nothing to do with the classes being discussed from what I saw. All the time improvements were from other classes (mesmer blink, feedback, etc).
Considering the damage part, on strife’s new video second gate opens at 0:55 and they kill the effigy at 5:43, making it a 4:48 run.
On phira’s video, second gate opens at 1:02 and they kill the effigy at 5:51, making it a 4:49 run (Without mesmer’s feedback on effigy)
I can see going by that idea that new times can be stabilished, if Phira or Strife will be able to take it even lower I have no idea really, even if there’s room for improvement.
Overall it’s nice to see that both classes can be used in such a great way, wonder myself as well if other classes couldn’t be used to their maximum effectiveness to get similar times.
Seriously? Is the viability of a thief in CoF really being judged over a 10 second discrepency between videos?
At this point, its no longer about viability as it is people getting kitten that their theorycrafted numbers are not as accurate as they claimed. (pro misinformation). I can think of many ways for us to go even faster than 5:43, but to make up excuses cause their short lived record was beaten is just poor sportsmanship. Just keep it classy stick to footage speed times, they’ll speak for themselves. All this garbage jargon on what could of, should of, but didn’t is pointless until a video is posted.
Our run was not perfect, we had a few mistakes, but to come up with bs like itd take us 20s+ longer cause TW was nerfed is getting way ahead of yourselves.

The reason I brought it up is because they used hounds in their video.
But at this point, I don’t think any of this is relevant for 99% of pugs since they’re not going to have coordination to pull off alot of the stuff anyways. This is just pure speed running like in GW1 to beat times.
I personally don’t really care if my average farm time is 5:50 or 6:00 min when normally running, my video was basically made to call out the stupid assumptions that a 4war/1mes group would take 6:30 now based on my old video even though it’s a couple months old, doesn’t used optimized rotations, sigils, runes, etc. Even now, we’re just running ruby orbs instead of scholar runes. There’s always room for improvement and there’s no doubt we could go faster then 5:43 just like Phira could go faster then 5:53, but I’ll focus on improving once another video beating 5:43 goes up instead of making excuses.

We never said TW makes a difference of 20 seconds. We said that’s because each acolyte spawn 5 second later than they did before March 26 meaning we lose a net of 15 seconds. Also, the gate after acolyte opens 5 seconds later than it did than in March 26 for a net total of a 20 second nerf. And then add the time warp nerf on top of that.
—
We’ll probably post a vid. sometime during the weekend since we’re busy with school, work, etc…
Probably, we’ll need to record from Magg’s explosion. The majority of our runs are ruined right from the start, by 5-10 seconds, because someone keeps getting stuck in cinematic due to our low CPU specs. So now, we just have to worry about getting stuck at cinematic before the last boss.
In Strife’s video, from Mag, the gate opens at 0:55 or 0:56 and ends at 5:43 meaning we’ll just have to beat 4:47 or 4:48.
If anyone wants to help us with recording or can fill-in, send me pm in-game because we are usually short on willing people for the recordings. Requirement is having at least having berserker gear, etc.. and the willingness to coordinate with us.
Ah so the opening part no longer counts because it doesn’t benefit you. Got it. If you did that part 10 seconds faster than us somehow, I assume your position would be the same?

I never was even for the video idea. We are totally disadvantaged here because of our CPU specs (as evident in the difference in time the 2nd gate opens.) And the video idea was a pretty ridiculous idea to begin with. It just shows who’s more coordinated and who has better CPU specs. I’m sure most people here realize that these factors are completely irrelevant to team comp.
And that was your idea. You guys are trying to dodge the initial bullet and putting more burden on us because you guys couldn’t answer the initial questions of how GS warriors actually out damage thieves.
And for those just reading this, here is the original 8 segments I presented that they still haven’t yet answered of how GS Warriors would outperform thieves.
1) pulling Ferrah meaning you get her to follow you before you choose path to be able to skip the dialogue faster and then portaling the person pulling ferrah
2) pulling charrs to turret and aoeing them down
3) killing Slave Driver
4) Running to acolytes to trigger acolytes faster
5) Speed killing acolytes
6) Boulders
7) gating
8) last boss
And I actually gave GS Warriors a point here because they would outperform thieves only at the charrs-> turret part because of better AoE power. But I also said that in every other aspect (boss kills, running to acolyte, acolyte killing, etc…) thieves would outperform GS Warriors. I’m being 100% objective here. No phat warrior pride. No phat thief pride (I don’t even play thief, I’m the mesmer.)
Finally, to answer your question, we’re playing fair. We’ve played your game (by recording), and we still probably will be (even with our lesser CPU specs clearly evident at the start). But, since you guys still haven’t played my game, I wouldn’t say you guys are being fair at all to begin with. This whole vid. recording junk is just a cover-up for your guys inability to answer the questions above. But don’t worry. I’m sure the audience is more attracted to the videos than pure logical argumentation, which is why we’re even playing this game.
