DC in fractals. no way to get back in
Dear Anet!
Hello again! Thank you very much for kinda reposting my questions about fractals repairs!
But…
“We plan to ship these two features at the end of January.”
Are u kidding me?
U understand that u could write “screw you, we don’t need you” and it would mean to most of us same thing?

I have to completely agree. This is a slap in the face to us Fractal players. A-Net do you even care about your users, or is it just for the money? Because in one week you can progress from fractals 20 to 30. This whole day I have been trying to progress past 20. Just 20. I crashed on stage 3 or at jade maw each and every time. That’s hours upon hours of time lost for nothing. Now you announce the patch is in a whole month? That’s too long. I imagine the disconnect patch wouldn’t even be more than 3-5 lines of code, if not less. This is so stressful that I really can’t stand it anymore. I really want to stick my head in my lawn mower… That’s how I feel. I will not continue any more fractals until you patch this terrible issue. You’re loosing customers and trust here A-Net.

You clearly never write any sophisticated and complex code. 3-5 lines? Do you know that fractals are probalby based on personal story, not on standard dungeons? It’s much harder than that. And it’s holiday times now. You’d think some people want some rest from their jobs.

You obviously have never coded a fix before, and don’t understand the standard complexity of such an easy task. I understand your frustration, and why you’re mad, but you gotta realize if you imply things I’m just going to ignore you. These people are paid to work no matter the day or night. Some of the workers don’t even celebrate Christmas, and you’re implying all do? You’re just backing the excuses A-Net would give in such a standard fashion. I honestly expected a response just like this. Hell I’ll be on the disconnect fix if they hired me. I’d work day and night and be known as the Fractals savior. Don’t use a time of year or event as an excuse to idle work. Save your sauce for another fellow please.

A fix? They have to code a feature not a fix. How hard is to grasp it?

It’s really not hard when they have the same fix implemented in all the other dungeons and story mode. There is no feature. Only Zuul.

Fractals = personal story mission from design standpoint.

Or…they could’ve ran it through ANY QA before actually releasing it in this state that has so much of the playerbase up-in-arms.
“We pre-test all content on lower-end systems for optimization” – Yeah…sure.
Hey Faction, I’ll miss you.. can I have your stuff?

Don’t you understand? They based whole fractals design on personal story missions where you can’t reconnect and join from different servers except overflows. They weren’t testing it because they tested personal story missions a long time ago and probably didnt thin’k about disconnect issues because personal missions are pretty short so it’s not needed there.
If they really had a fix ready don’t you think they would of already patched it in? It’s just another lie.
Hey Faction, I’ll miss you.. can I have your stuff?
I would, but all my stuff is Soulbound.
All my gold I threw into my Guild-Bank or is locked up in TP Buy-Orders I no longer care about.
Trust me, I already tried…

The obvious fix would be to have Fractals work like normal dungeons, considering they already have 25 of those in-game.

Best case, this is a minor oversight. Worst case, this is a malicious way of kittening over players.

1. Sooooo…..What your saying is it is ok to not test a patch?
2. That’s kinda a big deal to be an oversight. Regardless of what you might “think” it is a huge oversight and has caused countless amounts of wasted time and grief. Which of course would have been caught in a Public Test Server and reported, but whatever….
Oh my dear, dear Anet.
Thank you for dc!(this time it was me- third time for myself so i can call myself lucky but oh well it was much more dcs of my party mates till this moment).
You dont know how glad i am that u showed me that fractals r just waste of time!
Also thank u for giving me so much time(cause i wont spend so much of it from now on in your incredibly consumer-friendly world).
What’s last- I just need to congratulate you. I really havent seen yet so crappy customer -player service. Till now.
Wasted 3 hrs trying to do lvl 10 fractals today. First time someone d/c’d during the first fractal so we waited for him to come back on he d/c’d again. We then got someone else during the 2nd fractal the new person d/c’d. So I took a break cause we couldn’t 4man it with our group cause of the lava level boss. Started a new group guess what during the 2nd fractal someone says the game kicked them to lions arch when we were transitioning fractals. It’s quite obvious Anet rushed fractals so that they could retain players they are losing and appeal to newer 1’s
Yep disconnected at lvl 36 at the shaman stage. I can’t believe devs are getting lazier trying to fix the game by putting patches in. If patches cannot be used then 50% of this game would be rendered unplayable.
I mean do u see that in any major games in ps2? I don’t even think Xbox games had that problem either.
Patch are making devs getting lazier so if there is anything wrong they can just patch it instead of hiring or getting ppl to test play the game first.
I got to fractal 9 with a group of RL friends; in our last few runs, we experienced several disconnects.
I ended up beating Jade Maw 8 with one other person, because everyone else dropped (we also had to abandon an earlier run as 3 people got disconnected in the third fractal).
All of us lost the will to do any more fractals after that.
I would consider this DC issue a showstopper bug, and I think it was a poor decision to release the dungeon without crash/disconnect resiliency.
I also consider this a showstopper and have stopped running fractals until the fix comes next month.
I have instead started running the regular dungeons and am having a lot of fun with them, so it’s no hardship.

Did anyone here complaining play this game before fractals came out. If you did, did you forget there was plenty to do before they added that. Heres the thing. They added some stuff without fully testing it. News flash, every software company in the world, IN THE WORLD does this. Now you can play something that 90%, not 50, 90% finished that needs some polish if you want, nobodies forcing you to play this. Remember all that game that was there before fractals that i mentioned earlier. Go do that if the bugs are a “show stopper” to you.
Its great, you get a preview of something before its done. You people need a perception shift. Serisouly do you go out and buy the latest operating system the second it comes out. If you do you are seriously the biggest, most idiotic person in the world or your into sadomasochism. But hey whatever works for you. Dont be an early adopter of software if your one of those idiotic perfectionist. Software is never perfect day one of release. Words to live by. Welcome to the real world. Should have taken the “blue pill” if you wanted to stay in the matirx.
Me personally, thought it was great, I got a preview of whats to come. If I want to play it I can. Of course I run the chance of disconnecting (which i have, about as fun as jamming needles into my eyes) and lossing my progress. But now when they finish it, I wont be a total noob and can get through the stuff at a decent pace. I personally wont consider it finished till they get a looking for group feature along with it. But the end of january thing is a step in the right direction.

Try reading the thread first and you’ll understand why people are frustrated. It’s one thing to have the problem we all risk every time we play it and it’s completely different when they say they have a fix and lied about it. Not to mention the information coming about 10 days apart each time. So yea I’ll believe the end of January when I see it because if they really had a tested fix ready it would be in game already. No one enjoys being lied to, then ignored, then lied to, then ignored.

Yeah but I have never seen it this bad. Take this as a single player game and it cant be patched and if u wanna complete the world exploration completion, well, u can’t cuz there were some skill points that were bugged. Oh how about the escorting quest. Oh can’t cuz Npc are stuck and they can’t move. How about jumping, oh they kinda screwed that up a couple of times. Oh wait, now I am stuck in a story mode cuz i can’t exit the instance. Oh well let’s go to arah, but, the precursor quest is stuck.
And that is the company’s problem. Are you satisfied with just 90%? Why not 95%? Or even better? Bugs and glitches should be fun, not frustating to a point I have to wait for a patch to patch the patch up. I am not saying it has to be perfect, but at least player-friendly. But it isn’t at the moment.
And seriously it has been a good month and they still haven’t done much to the fotm thing. They r too busy with the wintersday event.

If you developed software, you should understand that not all bugs are equal – some are more severe than others – instead of sweeping everything under a blanket statement of “software is never fully tested.”
That’s not even true; saying that reveals your ignorance. There are industries/types of software outside of consumer applications and games where shipping without extremely rigorous testing is absolutely unacceptable.

That’s exactly what I did. Don’t make wild assumptions like a pompous and smug fanboy.
Of course I run the chance of disconnecting (which i have, about as fun as jamming needles into my eyes) and lossing my progress.
The real masochist is the one who seeks out experiences where they are likely to find pain.
Non-masochists, like me, simply wait for the upcoming patch.
Also, the substantial probability of users feeling like they have needles jammed into their eyes is exactly why I consider this bug a showstopper.
End of January? An “active fix” was quoted almost a month ago. Why is such a critical fix coming to us so late?
I have to agree. If there’s a remedy available now, please introduce it as soon as you can (not a month from now). I really miss the early days when patches came fast and often. I imagine some complained about it, but I for one enjoyed seeing that yellow text notifying the players of a new build.
Oh, and this disconnect problem happened to me earlier this afternoon. I was dodging the lightning bars while going up the ramps and was randomly disconnected from the server. It was quite frustrating and embarrassing to make the rest of my party finish that one without me.
This dungeon should not have gone live with this as an issue. Liking it otherwise, though, so well done on that. Except the swamp. Ugh, the swamp.
