So the Honor’s Claw ressing a dead player is an allowed hard res then? I only saw Tree going “Sounds okay” essentially, but nothing definitive.

Question: My 5 member team is pretty much fixed but I’m looking for a 6th one. None of my potential 6th has replied back to me about their availability. Can I change my 6th later on?

Here’s my speculation on the tourney: Given that there are 32 possible dungeon paths to choose from, it is near impossible to do record strats on most of them. Most of them will probably be standard safe tactics. Every team is probably gonna do record strats for the 3 paths that they have chosen and practice the kitten out of it. I am going to predict that its very likely the opposing teams will not do well to the teams’ picked dungeon paths. It’s all gonna boil down to the surprise 3rd map pick.

@RisingDusk: Honors Claw and Detha (and any other NPC) can res players, but none of the players can help them.

@Iris: Whoever is on your roster as #6 by close of registration (3.5 hours from this post) is locked in. If you leave it blank or the person is a no show on game day you can 5 man it.

I’ve decided to expand to 16 teams since turnout was so high. The original plan with 8 was to stream all four of the first round games, but expanding to 16 team won’t allow that to be possible. I figure streaming two matches from the Round of 16 and two matches from the Round of 8 will air the same amount of content for the same time but allow twice as many teams to participate.

Unless anyone has a real big objection to this, I don’t really see a downside, other than now teams need to prepare to pick 4 paths if they go all the way.

And that’s just what you will be hosting correct? All matches by all players will be streaming on their channels if people cared to watch specific teams?

Yeah, we will split each round in half so instead of 8 simultaneous matches in round one, we will have 4 then 4. And then 2 and 2 in round 2. Then watch the semi’s back to back and then the finals. Splitting it like this will make it easier to coordinate and require fewer proctors to make sure things start on time and are monitored properly.

For people who want to watch the side by side of a match I won’t be casting, multi-twitch will be awesome for you.

edit: @Rising Dusk: There won’t be a time difference. The original plan was to stagger the first round so we could watch all four games. Now, we will show 2/8 games from round of 16 and 2/4 games on round of 8. It should take roughly the same amount of time, there will just be fewer games from each round happening on my stream.

What does this do to the hosting times? Are we still going at 8AM PDT even though we now have an extra match to play that day?

I guess what I’m asking is if that’s enough time on both sides (early for west USA, late for east EU), or if maybe it should be spread out over two days? I ask because there will also have to be a third place match, which I imagine should take place at the same time as the finals (but I’d think we would want to stream the third place match too).

It’s kind of borderline, after thinking about it in context of the rules. I think it could probably be treated the same way as the Arah P3 first gate, in which case it could be allowed.

It’s up for discussion I guess, but I think it would be nice to keep its use out of the tournament for now, as its going to be controversial.

At 31 Eles, you’d have an average of 2 eles per team except for one team which has only 1. They make up 34% of the population.

21 Warriors means that there’s 5 teams that potentially have 2 warriors while the other 11 have 1 warrior.

17 Guardians means there’s at least one team with 2 guardians.

I went by all teams that entered, not just 16. So I think we had 18 or 19. Most teams had 2 eles, a few only had 1. One team had 3 warriors. at least one team has no guardian.

Well guys, I tried to run a tournament that would bring out the best in this community. But all it has done is bring out the worst.

[LuPi] has quit the tournament because they are upset that I re-seeded the brackets after their opponent dropped out. They felt that they should receive the bye in that case whereas I have said all along since the beginning that “preference in the selection will be given to guilds with current meta speed clear records.” I cannot help that you are afraid to play the Noob guild in round one. I cannot help that you feel entitled to a bye and I didn’t give you one. I thought you were competitors? And you quit if you don’t get a bye? What kind of champion are you? Pathetic. I hope this serves as a black mark on you in this community from this point forward.

Allright we understand you but than we are out for the tournament. I was talking to my group. Tyvm for The inv too it. But we would like to have a fair tournament and we think thats not.

A team dropped. There is a bye to be given. The bye is given to the top seed in the tournament. Thats how ANY tournament would do it. Please don’t try to say that this is unfair, what would be unfair is giving a lower seeded team a bye and forcing a higher seeded team to play. Please don’t accuse me of being unfair when the truth is you were looking to avoid competing.

That said, if people want to drop out, that’s on them. They aren’t doing anyone favors by joining, they are just forfeiting the possibility of rewards over some notion of self-pride that ultimately doesn’t mean anything. Others are still going to compete for the rewards and the prestige regardless. If they were really mad at you or the tournament, they’d redouble their training, beat everyone, and then walk off at the end with the big rewards laughing all the way to the bank.

Still, Tree, I don’t think you should call them out or name/shame them. That’s uncool, and lowers you in many ways to their level. Just let them do what they want to do and keep going regardless. The rest of us are still 100% behind this.

Personally I think it’s totally absurd. [Noob] didn’t drop out when they were going to be facing rT. To think that a serious dungeon guild would leave over something so petty? They decided to throw a wrench into the tournament. Of course they deserve to be shamed.

We expanded beyond 8 teams, so the losers of the first round would not get any gold. Also, we asked those who did not initially get seeded into the tournament if they’d like to participate once a couple of teams had to drop, and they had already made other plans.

4 teams have dropped, so we are giving 4 teams byes and having a first round of 8 teams, then a second round of 8 teams.

All the teams who did not make the original list declined to fill in. I offered. As a result, byes had to be given and I distributed them in the fairest way I could, which was by my pre-stated preference for guilds with speed run records.

You’ll notice I haven’t a word about the other guilds that withdrew for their own reasons. Nothing they did was disgraceful or to be ashamed of. I think people on EU who might be trying to find a guild to apply to will benefit from knowing who stands for what in the community.

Just think of the first round now as qualifying matches :P
