Personally I think it’s totally absurd. [Noob] didn’t drop out when they were going to be facing rT. To think that a serious dungeon guild would leave over something so petty? They decided to throw a wrench into the tournament. Of course they deserve to be shamed.

It is a group’s prerogative to leave the tournament if and when they choose. Did you know that the third place match wasn’t even played for the first ToL because the two teams just didn’t feel like wasting their time? Teams are allowed to do that, and it sucks for the viewers and isn’t great, but it is what it is. Shaming them just proliferates all the stereotypes about dungeon players, creates animosity that could harm ANet involvement in the future, and scares players / participants / viewers. This sort of drop-out should be taken in stride, and then you move on. That’s it.

That said, I didn’t realize there had been another reseeding due to this. Our match-up changed again, whee! Looking forward to facing [Noob] on Saturday!

It would’ve been taken in stride if it was not for them feeling that they were entitled to a BYE. That is what differentiates their drop from the other teams that dropped. As already mentioned…it was not as if they were going up against another hardcore dungeon team (no offense to the other team of course).

I found that viewer / player morale and excitement for the tournament was always better in the end if the tournament hosts focused on the positive and only called people out if rules were directly broken, and never with any emotion (just neutral judge-calling). That’s me, though, and I say this in the hopes of this sort of tournament growing into a bigger thing in the future.

Anyway, I won’t press the issue. Carry on!

I’ll agree with you there…but since this is the first tournament of this sort being held, the judges need to be more firm on the teams and rules so that it lays good groundwork for any future tournaments. I do believe this will grow to be a bigger thing in the future, it’s just the initial bumps and hurdles that have to be overcome and not only by the hosting guild but also us as well.

Some of us are looking at this as just another competition, others are looking at this as a way to baseline themselves and their guild, while others are just trying to break into this area of PvE.

Saturday will be a fun day for everyone participating as well as the people watching.

Having to name them is unfortunate, but it seems like it was largely done to clarify what was going on and possibly as a CYA measure with regards to questions about seeding and how it was done.

Yep. Any records set during the runs will be recorded (by twitch) and the video can be submitted to GWSCR. I expect many of the paths currently without records will get filled in. #hype

Some questions:

• In Arah p2, Belka has this nasty habit of bugging and staying friendly. Do we consider this a bug that can be corrected by the team, and therefore constitutes a wipe? Or would this invoke a restart?

• The GW2SCR rules specifically say that you are disqualified if you intentionally use terrain to bug out the AI of a boss… Does this also apply to mobs?

Re: belka. Belka bugs when one party member gets way ahead of Yissa (yea for npc trigger scripts!) and starts the event before Yissa can do her dialogue. Since all you have to do wait before the barrels for yissa to catch up before you go in to avoid bugging her I will assume that anyone who bugs her did it intentionally.

re: terrain. You can’t use terrain (arah p1 coral) that will let you damage a boss without him damaging you back. Counts for trash as well.

Too bad to see a team go so early but I must admit that I strongly disagree and I’m disappointed with the naming and shaming. Pushing the teams to meet the rules and all that is one but such an outrageous reaction in public, especially since you’re one of the people behind the tournament, is just childish and stupid.

I don’t care to be political. If someone acts in a pathetic and shameful manner they should expect polemic.

Well, in my honest opinion, if you undertake the responsibility of organizing such a big cross-guild/servers/continents event, then you, want it or not, are bound to be political up to some point. If you can’t do that then you should leave that task to someone who can keep his tongue behind his teeth for such irate remarks.

And if their decision to leave the tournament in a manner that might be classified as “pathetic and shameful” then the counter-reaction from you on this thread is just as bad, if not worse.

Yeah in theory you could be right but in practise we all know that Nike is doing a really good job at organising this tournament and quitting for no valid reason is a serious lack of respect not only for him but also for the other teams that could not take part in it!

I haven’t put anyone’s work that has been done for the realization of this tournament under question. In fact I give out huge kudos to everyone who participated in making this true and I myself am looking forward the tournament impatiently. I do however not agree how Tree put out his post towards the LuPi guild on the previous page and I believe that as someone who will be watching this tournament I have the right to express my frustration with it.

I agree that naming and shaming is not great but we aren’t talking about a team that backed out because of personal reasons or they didn’t want to go against the powerhouse that is [Noob]. They backed out because they felt entitled to a free pass into the second round and 30g per teammate. Entitlement. And I find that pathetic and worthy of shame given that this tourney is in its most delicate place at the moment. They put it in jeopardy and makes our entire community look like entitled bhbs.

It has nothing to do with morality and everything to do with the future prospects of this sort of tournament. If this is what we are to expect from our hosts, how can we expect more from the participants or the viewers?

EDIT: I really need to say that anything I say about this is in the vein of the best interests of the tournament and future instances of this tournament. This whole [LuPi] ordeal would’ve been a non-issue if they had just been removed from the list with no reason given; there was no need to call them out in the way that it happened. That sort of behavior is the best way to tell the devs that “We really don’t know how to handle ourselves when setting up competitive ventures”. Making a big deal out of it exacerbates that ten-fold. We want more than anything to have this tournament be a positive experience for those involved and those viewing.

FWIW, our guild doesn’t need any more fame; we have been one of the most famous guilds in gaming since WoW. We are doing this to give the community something to do and to come together about. We are donating thousands of our own gold to it, so if this is a get rich and famous plan it’s going horribly.

For the first time they announced the tournament, there would be 8 teams, and even if you loose, you would get some reward. Thats why you got a huge number of teams.

If you joining the dungeon, for example CoE, where you move killing to bosses? Go to corner wait the boss run to corner, or pull to corner, you all know. Like we have some dungeons when the bosses aren’t moving to corners, need change every dungeon mechanic, i think. Not need answer, because you can’t say better things.

1st, dungeon are the fastest way to get money in this game

2nd,, WvW is the only game mode that doesn’t require any skills in GW2, It’s about numbers and classes. Any PvP above 10 players vs 10 players become a spam fest. And the only reason why people think PvE is easy is because we’ve had the same dungeons for 2 years, sure people are going to be good at them.

I was in Redguard 25 man team for about 2 months, and I guarantee it, we didn’t use half the strategies that I used in DnT for dungeons. It was a huge spam fest, unorganized fire/water field blasting. The main advantages we had was, better class comp, better build.

This is what good PvE player look like, most of the boss don’t need to be in corner to be killed, and even if they didn’t stack + fiery greatsword, it would barely add a 2-3 minutes to the run at maximum.

Well actually, there are several people in rT who have/are currently playing for top guilds such as TA and (what used to be) ST and RG, so the people you’re arguing with might have just “played it”
