Hi,

I’m level 54 currently. I’m curious about where dungeons go to in this game. I really like the lack of trash and more plot/boss/loot/lots of XP, but I’m curious…

At any point are there actual armor sets from dungeons? Why do dungeons like CM give so much XP? And is the tank/dps/cc/heals approach viable in this game? In all the groups I’ve done people just rush in. Being a Great Sword Guardian I get destroyed on half of the bosses I do. I’ve enjoyed the DPS approach with conditions thus far and don’t really want to spec a tank, but may want to some day.

If anybody can answer these questions I’d really appreciate it.

Welcome to GW2!

At any point are there actual armor sets from dungeons?

Yes, there are token vendors in Lion’s Arch that exchange dungeon tokens (earned from exp paths) for gear.

Why do dungeons like CM give so much XP?

Dungeons tend to give something like 80% of a level for the final reward. I haven’t noticed any giving more than others, but I honestly don’t really pay attention to XP

And is the tank/dps/cc/heals approach viable in this game?

It’s viable, but unnecessary. Once you get the hang of blocks/blinds/dodges/etc, every player in the party can, quite effectively, run DPS gear/builds.

In all the groups I’ve done people just rush in. Being a Great Sword Guardian I get destroyed on half of the bosses I do. I’ve enjoyed the DPS approach with conditions thus far and don’t really want to spec a tank, but may want to some day.

I’d stick with DPS. Tanking doesn’t really work well in this game since aggro tends to be random and difficult, if not impossible, to manage. Doing well at bosses comes from experience and learning to avoid the heavy hitting attacks. Keep running and paying attention to the bosses tells and animations, and you’ll notice a significant improvement soon enough. Necros suck in dungeons, so since you’re not a necro, you should be fine.

If anybody can answer these questions I’d really appreciate it.

Better late than never, yeah?

Just curious as to why you suddenly revived a 2 year old thread?
