Is it possible to participate here without joining the guild, or is that a requirement?

You can absolutely message any of the listed mentors. The guild is not a requirement, just a way to make it easier for students to find mentors.

Hey Ivan, thanks for the kind words! I can duo that with you sometime, I think we started to before but you had to leave for something. Belka and Abomination are both actually pretty easy to solo. Belka because you can essentially get a breather for cd’s if needed at anytime during the fight, without the risk of Belka resetting. Abomination is just stacking up tranquilizer guns then fighting it away from the Asurans.

edit – Just saw the scheduling part. Sometimes scheduling can be a bit hard for me. So if someone else would like to schedule a time with you, that’d be cool. You can also feel free to whisper me when you see me on. I’m usually just looking for something to do.

Yeah, the scheduling thing is the issue, as my gf will absolutely die if I don’t give her all my attention at a moment’s notice no matter what I’m doing, so I don’t want to waste anyone’s time by starting and then having to go 20 minutes later, which is why I haven’t contacted you in game for more tutoring. I figure that if I can schedule a time where she knows I don’t want to be interrupted, she can go out somewhere lol.

Same issue with the gf here. Sometimes I’ll tell her “10 minutes” when the dungeon should be done in 10 min. Then 20 minutes later I’m starting to get yelled at…

Lol, mine’ll start bringing up “relationship issues” right when I’ve started to get into a dungeon. It’s like she’s got a sensor that alerts her right when I’m starting to get really into something. I can’t tell you how many dungeon/fractal runs I’ve ruined by having to leave to give her my full attention.

Oh relationships…. lol

You know what? I think this weekend (Saturday, 6P.M. server time) I’m going to tutor all of the CoE (Crucible of Eternity) dungeon exploration paths. On a side note, has anyone else been getting people who intentionally join your teaching group and remove your LFG post?

I would have thought it a bug, if it weren’t for the fact that yesterday, one particular person joined my party only to leave 5 or 7 seconds later, three times. On the third time, I had already started the instance and was kicked out. Someone else also joined when I needed to replace someone who had lagged out of the game and just left immediately. Full party means the LFG post is taken down. I also wished what happened yesterday was the only time too.

Back on topic, if anyone wishes to join my CoE tutoring on Saturday send me an in-game mail or whisper. I’m starting to think about doing a complete dungeon tutoring run where I go through all the paths of a given dungeon (attendance for all of them not required) every now and then when I have the time.

Yes, I think so, you’ll just need to be in the guild on both so we can designate NA vs EU accounts

Now you only need to explain me how to qualify for different mentor “ranks”. What exactly is a “meta mentor”? Let’s say, if I want to apply as an Arah mentor and I don’t really care about people’s gear but at the same time I prefer them bringing berserker’s… And if I am able to explain both PUG and speedclear tactics (in Arah)… what rank would that make then? Also the fact that no mentor is listed twice in any category makes it very confusing for me.

So I believe that the true definition of “meta mentor” is “teach meta builds, speed run tactics” (and must be trialled to make sure they know exactly) and general mentor is “teach any/all tactics without bias toward either” (a little more low stress, time doesn’t matter, sort of deal) and Arah mentor is “I’m good at everything, can teach Arah in any way with any builds, etc” (but this obviously could be Arah general and Arah meta, but in guild were limited to 10 ranks).

What about meta builds with minor beginner friendly changes? Like acro for thieves or vigor for eles/guardians? Or is that rejected in the manner of “you can’t teach that to a complete beginner, omg it’s missing 5% damage”?

Well, to give you a example : I’m listed as a General mentor and so is Sandy. But, both of us are from speedclearing guilds and we play the meta.

To me being a General Mentor means being an all-rounder while a meta mentor will focus only on teaching the meta.

I think Ena is completely accurate.

Meanwhile, I’m the fashion queen, I just teach style. Weth needs to learn this, but refuses. Lolololol

Pretty much what Ena said. I’m from a speed clearing guild and run meta as well, but I’ll lead anyone through arah. However I’d rather only train lupi melee with at least zerker gear, meta or close to it. And only good builds will get on the friend list for possible regular runs. I had a cleric guardian want to learn melee lupi so I duo’d to lupi with him. Seemed he didn’t really want to take my advice, he mostly just wanted me to get him there so he could practice, I think he just wanted to see if he could tank lupi solo as he wasn’t very into dodging. He told me his solo style is different since his build is different, so I said I guess there isn’t much I can teach then. (no offense if you’re reading this)

Aaaactually I changed back to meta mentor rank, because I don’t want to get too many mentees, as my runs are extremely intensive, thorough and personal. I just didnt like the term ‘meta’ mentor, because it makes me sound like someone who just follows tactics made up by someone else

Just wanted to say i really like your post and would be glad to take you into fractals.

As to reply to noobgood:

• Most General Mentors are happy to teach anyone anything with low to no requirements in terms of classes, gears and builds. They are most accessible to the dungeon beginners who want to learn the mechanics before anything else.

• Meta Mentors are those who practice speedruns and love to teach people who enjoy the efficiency of speedruns. All speedruns use meta builds, hence the name Meta Mentors. Even though Sandy dislike the name, he is one of the people who make the meta :p. In fact, I find Meta Mentors are more comfortable with students who already have an idea or two about their classes.

• Arah Mentors are those who only focuses on Arah. I find those whoever can teach Arah are far qualified enough for both general and meta categories. They set their own requirement. I find that Arah is one of a few fun and soloable dungeons, so all I ask for Arah Mentors is to be able to carry their group.

• As for applying to which category, it is your own decision. The mentor trial is pretty simple. I usually ask for a demonstration in AC for General Mentor, TA for Meta Mentor and of course, Arah p2 for Arah Mentor.
