Dungeon (Speed) Runs
The major issues here is that instance mobs have leash, unlike pretty much any other MMO out there (thankfully because some packs are unkillable unless you exploit this mechanic) AND they are just trash mobs, nothing more nothing less.
I believe they should be balanced without the leash in mind and such leash should be removed (that is, no more 3 Knockback combo). You are inside a dungeon, it makes little no sense for them to simply reset and, more importantly, allows the speed runs to exist.
Second, and that’s the hard part, it the fact that they are just trash mob and serve no purpose besides delaying your group. They should have some meaning on the instance, and by that I mean, mechanics that gives you a purpose to kill them, like dropping parts of a key to open the door to the next boss, or each killed mob removes X amount of a shield around the boss, or they should defend a lever to open the passage to the next boss, etc. To top it off, they should have a (good) chance to drop instance tokens. That way, not only they have some meaning but groups would be encourage to kill them for extra tokens.
In my (limited, anecdotal) experience, most players find it a lot more fun to actually fight the enemies when they do a dungeon, but the time required to accumulate tokens necessitates doing the most token-efficient run, even if it’s boring as hell (and less rewarding in terms of experience and gold).
I would give this issue a week or so to see how the update to dungeon rewards changes things. I would not be at all surprised to see “speed runs” become an endangered species if the reward structure feels rewarding to players who play dungeons the “right” way.
After all, if the difference between speedrunning and regular play is getting your dungeon armour in 15 hours over two weeks, and getting it over a hundred hours and two months, of course you’re going to do speed runs. If the difference is between 15 hours over two weeks, and 25 hours over three weeks, you’ll probably do it the fun way.
Mobs need to drop tokens randomly again like they used to be in BWE. The solution is to make clearing mobs more enticing, not implement ways to prevent speed clearing, most of which would break the game more than fix.
Just make it so all mobs that were skipped and are still alive insta port to the boss when you start the boss fight…that will make people stop and kill them instead of leashing them.

I have no idea what your past is with MMO’s but, you have to see dungeons as endgame content which should take long etc.
True, I have to say, there should be some sort of way to ignore SOME packs. But to skip 30 minutes of content is just way to much imo. Or other said, just make the speedruns so that they aren’t worthwile anymore.

(i think dungeons should be soloable because i bought the game and i should be able to play all the content period)
i play gw1 and gw2 in gw 1 i played for years and tried to get in dungeons i finally did when i joined a guild called elite death society and i am still with this guild i have kittenungst mere mortals title i beat everything in gw1 / i am still playing also after 5 years
Here are my issues with not being able to solo first off i had to try for years to get in groups in gw1 like i think it took 2 years just to do fow or doa for the first time complete sad i know but that is how it was do to people noob calling. even though i been playing for years or the pug groups or guilds that said they would help me do them etc etc etc….. or waiting hours in doa just to do a dungeon jeeez
well for gw2 and maybe even gw1 now that people are playing gw2 the dungeons should be soloable (self, henchman, heros) my reasons are i should not have to rely on other people to do any content in game i paid for. waiting to get a pug that may not go all the way through / guld members not wanting to go when i want to / i can come up with dozens and dozens of excuses on why should be able to play solo also i am not knocking playing in groups i like playing with my guildies but when i want to do something alone or i cannot get that group together i should be able to just do it period again for the third time i paid for the game like everyone else!!!!!!!!!!
well that is all i have to say about game play and i hope anet can see to help us who would like to play without waisting hours for groups or guild members or other friends to play all content in game.

This game is based on community, play together, play with real people, enjoying the content. Are you bored to play with others and find people, and you want to solofarm all? Uninstall this game, go back to your GW1 with heroes clearing FoW.
We don’t have idiot henchmen/heroes, and god bless us from this kind of trash content killing the spirit to play with others on gw2 too.
