Dungeon community ignored?
#LilithFan#1
There is no exclusivity. Theres been plenty of newer posters recently and they are welcomed. Its the posters that flame and complain about the same things over and over and create non constructive threads which are the problem. Or the downright delusional that cant understand reason.

Alot of this is happening right now as we speak :o

I think this is the root of Obtena’s issue with us. He/she thinks we are excluding him/her from the cool kids table.
Geez…. I’ve never seen a single person who was logical be alienated from this forum. I don’t get it. There is no exclusivity. I mean, I’m here!

I don’t think you recognize how this exclusive atmosphere is created unintentionally, even if you know it’s not ideal. I know a great number of people who simply avoid this subsection, because of the atmosphere. Devs are players too. They aren’t blind to what’s happening. I don’t blame them for not coming here.
I guess we need to nominate a public relations director. I nominate Swiftpaw.

Get out.

This is what baffles me. Sometimes threads get heated and I can understand the posters who get targeted in those discussions may steer clear afterwards. But I cant understand why people who have a genuine interest in dungeons would avoid an entire section just because of a few heated discussions. These things happen far more often on class subforums and at times ive really gotten frustrated with some of the people on those subforums. It didnt stop me from reading posts though. If people are avoiding this subforum it seems far more likely that they arent that interested in dungeons or they dislike the meta so they try and turn a blind eye. In short I dont think its fair to say its purely the atmosphere that keeps them away. Even if thats what they claim.

Excellent choice. She has superb negotiating skills along with an engaging vocabulary. Her mere presence exhorts a calm and collective atmosphere.

I don’t think the dungeon community is being ignored because they are angry and hostile.
I think the dungeon community is being ignored, because dungeons are being ignored.

I think this is the truth. +1 said it more eloquently than I did.

Devs may be players, but their top priority should be appeasing customers (players) with great content, communication, and fixes.
I work as an engineer and there will always be troublesome employees, and I wouldn’t be good at my job if I just ignored them and decided not to go around them.
I think in every other parts of the game, a majority of people only recognize the PvP, WvW and PvE (including dungeons) as 3 major communities. I remember dungeon isn’t considered as (a part of) endgame, as nothing more to gain beyond the “Dungeon Master” title. It’s fair to say that dungeon PvE does not have much attention from ANet as most of the focus has been shifted to “living story as new endgame” and fixing numerous issues in PvP and WvW.
That said, we’ll have ANet attention in due time, maybe in the huge quality-of-life patch coming after the end of this living story arc. We all know that they have limited time and resources, and tons of plans to complete. Maybe they have already made the fix a long time ago and just need to test and de-bug it. Maybe they are doing it and plan to release it in the future…
Umm… So there isn’t need to flame in this post. Why don’t we just state our opinion and keep it at that instead of pointing-the-finger at each other?

I don’t mind dungeons being ignored. If the Aetherpath is any indication, any changes made would almost certainly be for the worst, so staying with the dungeons we have is for the best.
‘living story’ dungeons are awful.
I just want them to post dungeon changes in their patch notes. Is it so hard to write:
~ Blocked access to the boat in Arah path 2
~ Fixed a bug stopping Alphard from using daggerstorm if players are meleeing on her spawn point
?
Sure, the first one doesn’t matter since people already have another way and the second doesn’t mention how you now have to be extra careful with reflects, but actually telling people that they changed it would be appreciated. It’s not even people like me who suffer, it’s people like the pug group I joined and then saved them from another three hours of wipes who are the ones who suffer, which is the community ANet would seem to want to cater too.
It really gets on my nerves when ANet make stealth changes, it just creates mistrust and resentment, and there’s just no reason for them to not mention it.

This is a very valid point. They should have added it to the notes when they changed tafu to be harder, too. So many poor pugs.

I still don’t remember them giving a detailed explanation as to why they removed TAFU in order to implement the aetherblade path.
Even lorewise it makes no sense, as it was supposed to be a triangle interaction between the nightmare court NPCs. Except that now we don’t have the Vevina fight/Fyonna Tree/Leurent dead variation. Where is my immersion ANet.

I like them all especially the loot part.

I need more aetherkeys for the super cool chests!

They said that the paths were the possibilities that could happen after faolain was beaten. They said that Fyonna would be less likely to get to the nightmare tree first (which, sure, probably true ) and that it made sense that Scarlet actually had taken over that path.
Something like that. The dev explained it.

Oh, thanks for the explanation!
Will still miss the Vevina fight though

I liked the Molten Facility and the Aether Retreat, the TA path a little less but that one does require some effort, and not as much in the way of rewards.
I don’t think there’s any plans in the near future to do a dungeon rework. Look at AC before and after. When it got redone less people ran that dungeon, it’s pretty rough for a first dungeon. I like my game to be challenging but I feel that AC shouldn’t be the first dungeon in the lineup anymore. I like AC but I am an experienced player, but this dungeon can be daunting for someone who just hit lvl 35. After the rework and the reaction from the community, (not just the dungeon community) it seems that dungeon reworks were put on hold indefinitely.
It just seems to me that they tried once, failed and gave up, then was disbanded. All efforts then went into maintaining a rigid bi weekly update schedule, which I feel takes away more from the game than it adds to it, unless you count bugs and lackluster content as a plus. That’s a completely different subject so I’ll stop there.
There seems to be some stealth updates here and there, such as missing way points and the changes made to Alphard. If they put patch notes in like that for better or worse we might find out that there could be a dungeon team somewhere testing some things out, but silence sure isn’t helping. The last time a dungeon dev posted here that I know of was over a year ago, that should say something, I am pretty sure no other subforum has gone that long without an actual developer comment.
This is why I am keeping my fingers crossed for an expansion, that may add all new dungeons to the game. I think that might be a better route to take that way you still have the old dungeons that players are comfortable with and you have new dungeons to experiment with. Once they get the dungeon construction down to a science they could then rework the old ones.
But I think that would require a tremendous amount of effort and may not be as profitable as other avenues they could pursue. Though I would pay gems, or rather money for new dungeons it they came in a box with the word expansion written on it. However I don’t think GW2 is ready for an expansion just yet, the game has been out for a little over a year, and the resources for preparing the game for an expansion seem to be allocated elsewhere.

I’m pretty sure a while ago a dev posted that they do not necessarily put fixed exploits, as they see them, in the patch notes. But I don’t think they said why. Wish I had that quote but it was quite a while ago. But yea it would be nice. Alphard was a rude awakening the first time we went into p2 after the “fix”.

This.
Oh no that totally new and revolutionary thread about the dredge fractal was already deleted.
I know that a few threads have been posted before about that topic, but that thread was going to be the one to get an Anet dev to come in here and commit improving upon the dungeons. I just know it.

That’s a community issue. People need to recognize what kind of audience this game caters to. You think devs are going to be more or less willing to work with a hostile community?
Good joke. Remember the Sacrx and GvG drama with WvW? The designers caved in, giving in to a community way more toxic and hostile than what you’re describing.
This is a good thread. We are having lots of constructive conversation here, that will definitely result in something other than infractions!
Seriously. Two brick walls trolling each other. Why.

And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
It’s fair to say that dungeon PvE does not have much attention from ANet as most of the focus has been shifted to “living story as new endgame” and fixing numerous issues in PvP and WvW.
You obviously don’t WvW. The devs actively dislike WvW (see: infamous GvG incident) and see it as a barrier to their precious sPvP esports.
The WvW forum and the dungeon forum compete for being most ignored.
Oh really? Thats why you see red posts in the WvW forum?

That’s also why they advertised that new area in the EBJP as ‘a place to GvG’, right? Seems like a lot of hate on GvG to me! Not to mention Edge of the mists; man that thing is so anti-WvW it’s not funny! WvW even has a dedicated team, there’s no competition. Closest thing we have to a dungeon team is Brazil uploading exploits to youtube.

The EBJP came about only because of a MASSIVE uproar after the infamous GvG incident where a dev called GvG a “violation of his game mode” (look it up it’s hilarious).
As for Edge of the Mists: take a look at it. It’s a ploy to get people into their failed sPvP (as are the ruins in the BLs) and it’s not something players asked for. Considering the numerous issues with the game mode right now, it’s a waste of dev time. But as long as we’re making comparisons, the dungone community did get the new TA path.
