Dungeon scaling for less than 5?
A lot of dungeons can be duo’d.
That’s not really the same though is it? – it relies on highly specific builds with highly specific tactics and in some cases exploiting bugs.
Unless I’m mistaken.
Well you wanted it to scale to allow people to do it as a duo but it would be über difficult. How is that not implying you’ll need specific strategies and certain builds? It being uber difficult with two people implying it would scale in difficulty the less people you have. It currently already does this.
There are many dungeons that can be duo’d the legit way.
So then, my question really is whether or not they want to make all dungeons and paths doable by two people, by design rather than by accident.
Dungeons scale with less people? I didn’t know that, I thought they were fixed at levels for five players.
Dungeons are designed for 5 players. Bringing less than 5 players in a dungeon you will still be able to complete it, but it will be harder. There is no “scaling” or anything going on, other than your effective level in lower than 80 dungeons.
Some dungeons can’t be completed by fewer than 5 because of boss design requiring a certain amount of players.
There should be gambits a la Queen’s Gauntlet where bringing in fewer than 5 gives you extra rewards.
Since Anet’s not going to ever truly improve the dungeons, this change (and adding other gambits) would be the best we can hope for — plus, Anet doesn’t have to put much work in to get this done so it fits their MO.
There are very few paths which have a hard requirement for 5. CoFp1 is one famous example. Swamp and dredge require 3.
It’ll be very hard— you’ll be missing 50% or more of your party dps! But hey, a party of 3 zerkers is basically as good as 3 zerkers and 2 PTV.
One option is to just get your small group together and pug the rest. Bonus: making fun of silly pugs with your friends.
